About the property

1000 square foot Apartment, 2 Large Bedrooms, Sleeps Up to 6 Guests

Hi there!

So you’re planning your trip to Seattle, eh? Well, not to brag but you couldn't do much better than Bootleggers Hideaway. The large apartment has off-street parking and is also 2 blocks from all Seattle's public transportation you could possibly need with the advantage that you're still in a neighborhood. You can walk to Lake Washington in about 15 minutes by following Mt Baker Blvd to McClellan Park. Thanks to my wife, there is a drawing of the apartment in my photos so you can get an idea of the space.

I've tried to make my rental property what I look for in a place when traveling, clean, tidy, comfortable, reasonably priced, and fun.

I now only list on the VRBO partner sites because I like to be able to communicate with my guests directly before they pay and these websites are better to their hosts.

Bootleggers Hideaway is a 2 bedroom apartment. Here are the deets:

Sleeps up to 6 (could maybe accommodate extra kiddos if they shared beds)

2 Blocks from Link Light Rail-Mt Baker Station

1 Off-street parking spot (+street parking)

2 Bedrooms with Queen beds

For sleeping extra people: 1 Twin Bed, 1 Double Sleeper sofa, 2 shikibuton futon mattresses, a pack and play

1 Full Bathroom

High chair

Kitchen and Utensils

Laundry Available for $2/Wash and $2/Dry

Experience a wonderful historic Seattle neighborhood! (And in my humble opinion the best neighborhood in the city—what can I say I’m biased)

The apartment is spacious and airy and gets great daylight. I strive to create a home-like atmosphere.

The apartment is close to everything but it's quiet at night. The neighborhood of Mt. Baker is very diverse, both in the people who live here and the activities available to you. I wasn’t kidding when I said this is my favorite neighborhood in Seattle. You can walk to Lake Washington, cycle all over the city from the apartment, access public transportation to nearly all of the city, there are restaurants and adorable Columbia City about 1 mile south (a decent walk to build your appetite should you be so inclined). Bootleggers Hideaway is about 5 blocks from the Mount Baker Community Club, a popular wedding venue- and where Daphne and I got married- we walked to our wedding!

Also, another feature of the neighborhood is that you’re just south of downtown, which means less traffic both getting into, and away from downtown or more congested areas of Seattle.

Bootleggers Hideaway was named in honor of the first owners of the property in the 20s. The Gatt brothers were bootleggers and owned a jazz club called the Monte Carlo in Pioneer Square. There’s a house history in each unit detailing the history of the property, neighborhood, and house. You’ll be two blocks from the Mt. Baker light rail station (the main reason I purchased this property) which will get you downtown to the in about 12 minutes, and to the airport in less than 25 min. You wouldn't need a car, but in addition to the parking spot in the driveway there is regulated zoned street parking.

QFC, Safeway, Starbucks, and cute Italian eatery, Mio Posto are all in easy walking distance.

Gorgeous trails and swimming at Lake Washington (Mt. Baker beach) also within walking distance.

No smoking. Wireless internet included.

Check in is 4pm, check out is at 11am.

When you book you'll receive access to the mobile hospitality manager on VRBO/HomeAway.

I look forward to hosting you!

Why Emily Iverson chose Seattle

The location couldn't be better. Close to I-5, I-90, Mt. Baker Light Rail Station, Mt. Baker Transit Station, Close to your family in the south end of Seattle, off-street parking, Safeway, QFC, PCC. You can take Light Rail to the stadiums for games, restaurants, Columbia City is 1 mile south, shopping, tourist sights, Lake Washington, Perfect location! Also, the apartment is big.

What makes this apartment unique

Accessible by car or public transit, easy cycling to the north, east, west, and south, walking distance to Lake Washington, walk to Seafair festivities, urban hikes through Coleman Park. Seward Park, a more wild and woodsy Greenlake is nearby. No cleaning fees!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed at Bootleggers Hideaway for 4 nights so we could be close to our daughter and now daughter-in-law for their wedding. There were 4 adults and a toddler in the apt, it was perfect for us. Emily recently put a pack n play, and high chair in the apt as well as a television. We walked to the club house for the wedding and could easily walk to the QFC for groceries. One night we walked to Columbia City to catch a movie at the small theater there. The location is so convenient and Emily is a wonderful host. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

Met All Expectations

  • 5 of 5

Emily did a great job of describing the unit, and as such, met all of my expectations. She always responded to my questions within a few hours, and provided a thorough "how-to guide" on all matters concerning the unit. I felt the price of the stay was fair given the location, size and amenities, and highly recommend it!

An Excellent Choice!

  • 5 of 5

To quote the cousin who stayed with us..."cute, cute, cute!" This attractive apartment's amenities served our needs well. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen enabled us to cook breakfast each morning. There is plenty of room to sit and visit. We had dinner at a great Vietnamese restaurant one night and there are grocery stores close by.

The light rail is so close and convenient for trips downtown or to the airport. We were able to drive to the event at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with ease (though we could have taken the light rail). Something I read said there were stairs at the Mt. Baker Light Rail station. There are but, there is also an escalator and an elevator. The pedestrian bridge is all ramps. Wheeled luggage is not a problem. A vacation without a car would be quite possible.

We had a small issue with a toilet blockage but, several pots of boiling water resolved/dissolved it. We learned this trick at an old B and B. It really works and doesn't hurt old plumbing.

Emily was a gracious host before, during, and after our stay. Thanks Emily!!

Great use of the space. Decorated nicely and clean!

  • 4 of 5

Great place to stay. Two large bedrooms with comfortable beds. The 2nd bedroom has a double bed (or maybe queen) as well as a twin bed. The bathroom is huge! The driveway is very small like they say. I parked on the street and didn't have any problems. Nice neighborhood. The high school next door is impressive. My daughters took pictures with it in the background. The owner lives above so some walking around noise but nothing bad. Close to a transit station. We drove our car which I won't do again. Getting around Seattle was not fun and the parking is expensive. I suggest using their transit. Didn't get to really meet the owner, Emily but we said "Hi" one night after we got back. I meet Daphne and their dog, Silver when they were returning from a walk, they were both were very friendly. :)

Clean, convenient, and quiet

We enjoyed our stay at this property. Everything was in good shape, and the owners were responsive. The bed was comfortable, and the bedding was nice. It was a very easy walk from the light rail. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect accomodations!

  • 5 of 5

My trip was with my sister in law and 2 small children. Having the 2 bedrooms worked perfectly and the location was excellent and out of the way of the normal busy Seattle life! It was easy to get to anywhere we wanted to go from there. It was quiet and comfortable and I will definietly stay there again :) This location would work for anyone traveling to the Seattle area.
