About Karen & David
This house was built by my grandparents in the 60's to retire in the peace and serenity of the Adirondacks. My grandfather loved to fish and hunt. My grandmother loved how the mountains looked different every time she looked out the window. The house was passed down to my parents and now to me. I named the 2 maple trees out front Grandma and Grandpa! We are dedicated to making this house a comfortable and affordable gettaway.
Karen & David purchased this Cottage in 1969
Why Karen & David chose Jay
We have lots of windows to enjoy the 180 degree views of the mountains, including Jay Mountain wilderness and Whiteface Mountain. There are no visible neighbors. Quiet gettaway. Enjoy the 4 large Maple trees in the fall. Enjoy the trails all year around. Clean and well-maintained home. Rustic decor.
What makes this Cottage unique
Seclusion! Not another house in site. 18 acres with walking trails.
100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
Amazing location and cozy home that comes with everything!
Great place! Quiet and homelike feel.
Would come back for sure.
Cozy, comfortable and peaceful with plenty of trails to enjoy.
Overall this was a very positive stay.
Great value for the money.
It was nice that we could bring our 2 Golden Retrievers with us.
Heat and hot water worked very well.
Plenty of plates, cups and kitchen utensils. The only thing missing was a set of kitchen tongs.
We suggest that you bring your own bed linens and towels as we did.
We were aware that there was no TV reception and brought some movies to watch. Don’t make the same mistake we made and pack your Blu Rays as they were not compatible with the DVD player.
Would definitely recommend this property to others.
We are looking forward to our next stay.
Cozy cottage with nice mountain views. Great base for hiking and skiing. Superb stargazing from the porch.
Restful stay in the Adirondacks!
The family had another great winter vacation at the Maples! Everything we needed for our Christmas vacation was available and the house was nice and toasty on those cold winter nights. Thanks Karen!
Peaceful as promised. Less open land than I thought, but plenty of wooded land to wander around in.
The cottage was exactly as advertised. All the amenities needed to get away without worrying about what might not be available. This was the perfect place to just relax and unwind. Close to a lot of Adirondack mountain trails but pretty easy to find, even in the dark.
High temps only got into the 30s with a strong wind (and really cold windchill) on one day but the Monitor heater in the living room was enough.
The instructions on the dining room table were very helpful and the journal is a nice touch.
Would love to have had more time but will definitely consider this again.
FYI for others
We do have enough land out front for a ball or frisbee game. Enough of a long hill out back for sledding and to not block views.
Hope to have u back!
Great all year round.
Amazing skiing for downhill and cross-country lovers.
Mountain biking and snowmobile on Lincoln Hill Road across from property.
Covered bridge and waterfall in Jay with a natural rock slide to plunge into the pool below.
Summer concerts on the green in Jay village.
Farmer's markets, especially in Keene Valley at Marcy Field.
Local farms for fresh meats, cheeses, beers, vegetables.
Another great swim hole along 9N on way to Upper Jay.
High Falls Gorge.
Rock climbing and ice climbing close by.
Visit the shaggy longhorned Highland cattle and Elk and reindeer farms nearby.
Drive up Whiteface Mountain and take elevator to summit.
Santa's Workshop - North Pole.
Stroll through Lake Placid for shopping, restaurants, and more. Kayak Mirror Lake in the summer and sled across it by dog-sled or toboggan in the winter.
Many more tourist ideas at the house.
