Great location, loads of rustic charm!
We loved the location! Not only is it near lots of great state parks for hiking and outdoor fun, the creek behind the cabin, the fire pit, and the field in front provide lots of fresh air activities for us as well as our dogs. The cabin interior is charming with its wood floors, rough wood walls, and lean-to kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. Only one of the bedrooms had a door; it would have been nice to have doors on the other two as well. We did hear critters in the ceiling of the master bedroom at night...should have called the owner about this but were having too much fun during the day and just forgot. We made lots of great family memories here!
Perfect curl up by the fire weather
Weather wasn’t the best, so not much hiking but enjoyed relaxing at “The Shack” with the wood burning stove going.
The shack was the perfect setting to balance business and pleasure.
I attended a 5 day business seminar in Pickens. After a short 20 minute drive to the cabin, I was greeted by my 2 black labs, just like being home.
Kicking back sitting around the fire pit with my favorite beverage while enjoying the stars was the perfect nightcap
The cabin was really cute. Much bigger than it looked from outside.
We had a nice stay. The owner came down and showed us how to work all of the gas heaters and wood stove and once we got those going, it was much better. It was good to get the kids away from their electronics for a few days and let them play outside.
My sister and I rented this cabin over Christmas and brought our four kids. Tone and his wife were very accommodating and readily available if we needed them. They had the gas heaters on so the cabin was warm when we arrived and Mrs. Nichol's even spent about a half hour helping us figure out how to work the cable TV. We spent our time hiking at Table Rock State Park and just hanging out at the cabin playing board games watching Christmas movies. We were able to make smores and the kids and our dog had fun running around outside. The kitchen is really fully stocked and we didn't really need anything. The only issue we ran into was that both gas heaters stopped working our last night there. I'm not sure how 'gas' heat works but it's almost as if we ran out of gas. Because it took 2hrs to cook a pecan pie that night as well and we woke up the next morning with no hot water. Thankfully the electric heaters still worked and we had plenty of blankets to keep us warm. We didn't make a big deal because it was our last night, we just wanted to make sure we didn't break anything! lol. Now the cabin truly is rustic but we loved it! And yes you can hear critters at night but that's kind of what we were looking for in our getaway. This is no 'luxury' stay at the Hilton. All together it was very warm and cozy and we felt right at home. We can't wait to come back and visit during the summer. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during that time of year. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!! :)
Thank you for your review.
Yes you ran out of gas and didn't break anything. We had you on the spare tank because the gas company don't deliver on the weekend. Looking forward to your next visit.
It was such a good getaway. We had a lot of fun cooking and the smell of the cabin was great. Everything was great. It is a rustic cabin and it showed it. Which is not a bad thing because it was a whole lot of fun!
