Even better than represented!!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I chose to rent this property mainly due to the location, but when we stepped inside we realized it was truly perfect. It's better than the pictures could ever tell you. Read a few entries of the visitor log and you'll see what I mean. We're not ones for the golf course resort kind of places. The owner is very nice and the place is filled with all kinds of nice accents. Great feel to it. And the books of waterfalls and great hiking in the area was really handy. We didn't count on having that local info. We'll be back for sure!

The cabin was really cute. Much bigger than it looked from outside.

We had a nice stay. The owner came down and showed us how to work all of the gas heaters and wood stove and once we got those going, it was much better. It was good to get the kids away from their electronics for a few days and let them play outside.

Awesome Getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I rented this cabin over Christmas and brought our four kids. Tone and his wife were very accommodating and readily available if we needed them. They had the gas heaters on so the cabin was warm when we arrived and Mrs. Nichol's even spent about a half hour helping us figure out how to work the cable TV. We spent our time hiking at Table Rock State Park and just hanging out at the cabin playing board games watching Christmas movies. We were able to make smores and the kids and our dog had fun running around outside. The kitchen is really fully stocked and we didn't really need anything. The only issue we ran into was that both gas heaters stopped working our last night there. I'm not sure how 'gas' heat works but it's almost as if we ran out of gas. Because it took 2hrs to cook a pecan pie that night as well and we woke up the next morning with no hot water. Thankfully the electric heaters still worked and we had plenty of blankets to keep us warm. We didn't make a big deal because it was our last night, we just wanted to make sure we didn't break anything! lol. Now the cabin truly is rustic but we loved it! And yes you can hear critters at night but that's kind of what we were looking for in our getaway. This is no 'luxury' stay at the Hilton. All together it was very warm and cozy and we felt right at home. We can't wait to come back and visit during the summer. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during that time of year. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!! :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Yes you ran out of gas and didn't break anything. We had you on the spare tank because the gas company don't deliver on the weekend. Looking forward to your next visit. Thanks again.

It was such a good getaway. We had a lot of fun cooking and the smell of the cabin was great. Everything was great. It is a rustic cabin and it showed it. Which is not a bad thing because it was a whole lot of fun!

Rustic - Out of the Way Spot

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is very rustic and good if you want a nice quiet getaway. We were a little surprised at how rustic the cabin was when we pulled up and were not sure if we were in the right location, it looked run down from the road. The cabin was in pretty good shape though. The gas fireplace worked like a charm and kept the place warm. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with necessities.

The fact that there is no Wifi and our cell reception was not very good in the area, made it a little difficult. We were trying to look up local restaurants/stores and had to leave the area to get good reception. Wifi would have been a big help.

The campfire was a lot of fun and my family enjoyed that each evening. We were able to bring the dogs, so that was a plus. The dogs loved running around, but we ended up bringing fleas back home with us unfortunately.

Rustic little cabin right near a running creek.

  • 3 of 5

While not a luxury cabin, it had all the basic amenities needed for cabin life. It had recently been refurbished because of flooding this past week. Very clean and cozy. Offered gas heat but, also had a wood stove and wood if you wanted to build a fire. The owner and caretaker were extremely nice and worked tirelessly to get the cabin up and running after the recent flooding. If you're looking for basic accommodations with a rustic/cabin feel this is the place for you. We were in the area to hike and visit the state parks.

Unfortunately, we left a night early because of bad weather (consistent rain) and we were unsure if the creek would flood again as it did earlier in the week. There hasn't been flooding in ten years but, we didn't want to take the chance and we didn't know the area well.
