About the Property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Lake Crescent Cottage is one of the last private houses inside Olympic National Park. It's a dazzling little place right on the water on the sunny side of Lake Crescent. The house has its own dock for swimming, boating and kayaking, and you can walk or bike from the back door to the Spruce Railroad Trail. This portion of Lake Crescent is in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains, so it is sunny even when of the rest of the West End is wet.

Filled with light and color, Lake Crescent Cottage is simple, graceful, and exceedingly comfortable. It is small, but it is no rustic cabin. The high beamed living room faces the Lake. Window seats float above the water. The three bedrooms all have views of Lake Crescent; each has a pillow top bed, high thread count sheets, light blocking shades, and good reading lamps.

There is a full bath downstairs with tub and shower and a powder room upstairs. We provide huge fluffy towels. You will need them. Outside, on the side deck facing the lake, is a two person soaking tub, an outdoor shower, and an enormous cedar deck directly in front of the lake has comfortable wicker furniture for dining and lake watching. Stargazing is spectacular.

Even in July, the nights are cool, so there is a wood stove, more for fun than for necessity, since the house is, of course, heated. The kitchen has stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, dishwasher, pots, pans, plates, and cutlery. There is a full laundry room in the basement.

For those guests who need to keep on top of their email, or who enjoy reading their home newspapers on line, we provide high speed internet access.

Lake Crescent Cottage's location is ideal as you can walk from the back door to trails and Olympic National Park facilities. You can drive directly to the back door of the house, which is not the case with all properties on Lake Crescent.

If you visit in the summer you'll see a few people, but you'll still feel secluded since Olympic National Park owns most of the small cluster of nearby houses. If you come in the off season, you will have total privacy, except for the kingfishers, the otters, the ducks, and the deer. The cottage is particularly lovely during winter; there is nothing like lazing in the hot tub as the snow falls around you.

Owner info

Year Purchased: 2003

Why the Owner Chose Port Angeles, WA, USA:
We had a unique opportunity to own waterfront property in a national park. We had been hiking at Lake Crescent for years, and when we saw Lake Crescent Cottage, we jumped at the chance to buy it and to share our love of the area.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The cottage is in the national park, right on the lake. It is in a perfect location for exploring the park and the region, but you can stay right at the cottage and enjoy spectacular views, swimming, hiking the Spruce Railroad Trail and other wonders of the park. We remodeled and furnished the cottage to be comfortable and even a touch luxurious. This is not a rustic cabin.
