About the property

Large house, Sleeps 12, Block and a half from Beach

The New Look is here at last. We re-painted the interior in bright, cheerful yellows and blues. Then we ripped up the ugly old carpeting upstairs and finished the wood floors. The rest is a brighter, lighter, cleaner looking house. Just beautiful. Comfortable, roomy and a block and a half from the beach, this home features three screened porches, parking for FOUR cars and all the amenities needed for a perfect beach vacation. Meet Me at IOP is lovingly furnished in beachy cottage style decor. A large living area and two dining areas downstairs give the guests plenty of options for socializing. With 6 bedrooms and three bathrooms, there is sleeping for 10 or more guests and includes one king-size bed, three queen-size beds and a two full-sized beds. Bring your dog. Book now!

relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

Paula was very accommodating after our long drive down from Philadelphia. Perfect location - 5 minute drive to Grocery store and local nightlife. Beach access less than a block away. We were part of a wedding party staying on the island and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Thanks so much for your little slice of paradise

Great roomy home, walking distance to beach

  • 5 of 5

This home is such a gem, it is older and has so much character. The neighborhood was quiet, park nearby and the beach only a little over a block away and absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of parking, the porches were shaded and spacious. The updates that have been completed to the home have been done well. There are some things that could make this home even better, the living room furniture could use replacing as they are dated and a bit low for the older folks to get out of. All of the bedrooms are so large, its is a shame that there aren't more king beds, especially on the first floor for those older folks again. The bathroom on the first floor needs a shower as well. The owner was great to work with, quick to respond from the moment I requested the reservation thru the entire stay. We had a cable issues, she not only arranged the fix, but continued to follow up to make sure it was taken care of. We loved our long weekend here, having space for everyone to come together for our first trip to IOP. Can't wait to come back.

Bumby Week

  • 2 of 5

Isle of Palms was a nice and convenient area to stay. The house had plenty of room for the seven us and our small dogs. The street doesn't have much traffic, which was nice. It is only a 2-3 minute walk to the beach. (The week was unusually cold, so we could only walk on the beach a few times.) Our favorite things about the week include Charleston city market, the haunted prison tour, the aquarium, Magnolia Plantation, Patriots Point and some great restaurants (R&B's, Page's Okra Grill and Rita's). The weather was a hindrance to many activities, but that can't be helped.

We did have some issues with the house (and some things that are good to know if you plan to stay there). I think some of them may be more of an issue with the cleaning service than the owners. The king size sheets had holes in them. There were minimal paper products on our arrival, so we had to go right to a store for toilet paper and Kleenex. The liquid hand soap at all of the sinks had < 1/2" of soap in the bottom and had water added to make it look half full. There were two dishwasher pods for the week. Add both of those to the shopping list! As mentioned in other posts, there isn't a broom or dust mop, so if you bring sand in from the beach, it's yours for the week. I tried to do two loads of laundry after a few days. After the second load was in the washer, I realized the towels were only tumbling, not drying. The owner told us to pull the dryer out because the vent hose sometimes kinks, but that didn't solve the problem. We were now off to the laundromat.

The neighbors on one side (owners not renters) played very loud music from 3 pm-2:30 am on one night and until 11:30 pm another night. Their patio is right outside the windows of three bedrooms. It was loud enough that it sounded like it was inside our house! Two of us had to move to another bedroom in order to sleep. We were only two nights into a seven night stay, so didn't report it, not knowing what may result.

We have rented beach houses for several years for vacations. Unfortunately, this was our most disappointing. We made the best of the weather and still enjoyed visiting the area.

Great house for family holiday

  • 4 of 5

My family of 8 plus a dog stayed here for five days over the holidays and it worked out really well. The house is really well appointed. The kitchen is quite large and well stocked with a variety of pots, pans, cutting boards, utensils, eating ware, etc. There were only a couple items we had to pick up at the grocery store on the way in. We loved the upstairs screen porch that two of the front bedrooms open up to. A great swing and some chairs for hanging out to catch some sun. We also used the charcoal grill one night and one of our guests used the outdoor shower twice. It was overall a cozy experience.

A couple things to pass along that that others may find helpful... the upstairs double bedroom is attached to the master bedroom so you have to walk through the master to get downstairs or get to the bathroom. There is, however, a small outdoor deck and stairs that you can use from that bedroom to get downstairs but you have to go outside and around to the front door. The outdoor shower is accessible via a door inside the downstairs double bedroom though you can go out the front door and around the side of the house as an alternative.

The bedroom door on the front middle queen bedroom was really tight and difficult to open and close which was somewhat troublesome when one person went to bed and got up earlier than the other. That's all I can think of regarding the issues. The cleaning service did an exceptional job as the house was spotless upon check-in. It was also really nice that linens and towels were included in the price b/c supplying those for a big house can be a real headache. All in all a great house, short walk to the public beach access, two blocks from the IOP rec area including expansive playground, tennis courts, and a basketball court. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into making this a practical, cozy house and we appreciated it.
