Located on Pikes Peak at an elevation of 7200 feet (2200m) this unique creek side property has a year round mountain stream running through it so it is perfect for kids who like to explore and play in a cool mountain stream or as a romantic getaway where you can fall asleep to the sounds of the babbling brook a stone’s throw away.
You will be minutes from all the major attractions of the Pikes Peak region with numerous trails surrounding you. In fact the trail head for the Ute Pass Regional Trail, which serves as a component of the American Discovery trail, sits right outside our front door and is an easy trail leading to the quaint little mountain Town of Green Mountain Falls, and beyond.
The home is divided into three parts for rent. On the main level there are two sides for rent and each can be rented with 1 or 2 bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people or both can be combined and rented as a 4 bedroom sleeping up to 12. Each of the sides has a bathroom, fireplace, 50' HDTV with the HD TV channels package, and a super-fast 20MB high speed wireless internet package.
In the Area 1 master bedroom there is a queen size bed and in the second bedroom there is a European style bed which can be made into either two twin size beds or these can be made up together as a king size bed depending on your preference. This part has a fireplace and a queen size Lazy-z-Boy sofa sleeper in it which can sleep up to two additional people for a total of six. This unit has a full kitchen with an oven and dishwasher as well as a dining area.
Area 2 is set up as a suite with a king size bed and French doors between the bed and a sitting area with a queen size sofa sleeper futon and a wood burning stove. It is also possible to add an extra bedroom with a set of log bunk beds in the bedroom to this suite so it can accommodate from 2 to 6 people if you also use the queen size futon for sleeping. This part has a large deck with outdoor seating and dining areas. If rented by itself it does not have a full kitchen but has a hotel style refrigerator, microwave, and stainless steel thermal carafe coffee maker.
Area 1 and Area 2 are on the main level although since the house is built into the side of a hill both levels are accessable on ground level. There is a laundry room between Area 1 and 2 which separates the two units. If you rent Area 1 or Area 2 the doors remain locked and the two units are not connected in any way. Area 1 and 2 can also be rented together as one 4 bedroom unit which will sleep up to 12 if you include the queen size sofa in the living room of the first part and the queen size futon bed in the master suite sitting area. If you rent both Area 1 and 2 you also have access to the laundry room which keeps the two units separate. The laundry room has a large capacity, front loading, high efficiency washer and dryer.
Area 3 is on the lower level and is set up as a King Bed Jacuzzi Suite. This is not connected or connectable to Area 1 and 2 in any way but is possible to rent in addition to Area 1 or 2 for large groups.
Whether you like to star gaze at night, enjoy the cool mountain stream, or cuddle by the fire this is the perfect mountain getaway.
*****Post Fire Update*****
Assuming you have heard of the fire in our area of Colorado in June 2012 we wanted to provide you with an update on the fire and its impact. In fact that fire came very close to our property and on June 26th 2012 it was less than a mile away. However, we sit on the Pikes Peak side of Highway 24 and the fire fighters did a great job and were able to keep the fire from crossing the highway to the Pikes Peak side. As a result the Pikes Peak side where we sit is completely untouched by the fire. All the trails from our house up Pikes Peak and to the Falls in Green Mountain Falls and through Cascade are 100% untouched. The views from the deck, dining room window, and the picture windows are all green and beautiful. We have uploaded them here for you to see and enjoy.
*****Post Flash Flood Update*****
As mentioned we survived the fire well however we were shocked when the end of July there was a huge thunder storm that dumped over an inch of rain in less than an hour over the burn area a mile from our house. This massive amount of water over the burn area was more than the area could absorb after the burn and since our home sits where Sand Creek (a normally dry creek) joins the year round Fountain Creek our home was hit by a 2 foot high wall of water. No water entered Area 2 or 3 and Area 1 had water come in only a few inches under the door onto the entryway tile.
We have had many rainstorms that have dropped as much as several inches of water in a day and there has been no water at all however if another huge rainstorm comes over the burn area another flood is expected until the burn area vegetation has regrown.
Although the Colorado Flash Flood “Season” officially runs from April 1 to September 30th these floods can happen at any time. We have been advised that the peak months for possible flash floods are July and August.
We are in the process of putting into place a barrier to help divert water around the home which will help reduce the threat in the future. We have also installed NOAA emergency weather alert radios in each Area to warn you if there is a large rainstorm that could cause a flash flood. Should these go off you should vacate the house if there is not already water flowing toward the house. This probably goes without saying but you should not be outside near the creek if there is a heavy rain. Also, the main flood area is about 100 feet on either side of our house (the joys of living on two creeks) so if rain is forecast it is wise to park your cars on the road at least 100 feet East of our house as a foot of water can float a car away and although that would be a great vacation story down the road it may not be one you wish to tell.
We are located 15 minutes’ drive and 2000 feet above Colorado Springs in the mountain community of Cascade near the entrance to Pikes Peak highway. Cascade was established in 1886 and was named for the waterfalls in the area that “Cascade” down the side of Pikes Peak.
Many people love to get away from it all and just hang out by the mountain stream that runs through our back yard and relax and enjoy the mountain setting and the numerous wildlife that we share the area with which including deer, elk, black bear, foxes and raccoons all of which are known to cross our property from time to time, especially if you leave your windows down and food in your car at night!

We wanted a place that was not too far from the city for all the dining and entertainment options but we were tired of the heat and smog in the summer in Colorado Springs. We were so happy to find this place not only was the air cooler and clean and looking up at the tree covered hills refreshing each morning but we were blessed to have a mountain stream running through the backyard. This is a great small town friendly mountain community that we loved to call home for over 20 years.
We had a family group of 16 and rented the whole house. It was perfect for our large family meals and each section had places to retreat away from the chaos that such a large family is. Perfect house for us! Loved the hot tub and stream behind the house.
Generally, a good property VERY close to Pikes Peak. A single and two couples each had actual bedrooms; the kids had a room with twin beds. The kitchen had everything but coffee filters and hand soap, which the owner provided asap after I texted. We had a few minor concerns that individually are not much, but together were bothersome.
APP: The owner never used the VRBO app to post driving directions, info on check in/out, etc. Instead, I emailed the day before our arrival to ask for the property address, which I then received. Later, after 11 pm., the owner finally emailed with specifics about the location and property including how to run the water cooler, where to park, etc. Since we planned to start driving at 9am the next morning, it REALLY would have helped to have this info sooner and in one place rather than having to sort through emails. I downloaded this app for nothing.
HOT WATER: There may be an intermittent issue with hot water. I called the owner after waiting a fair amount of time for the water to heat up. Meanwhile, the water started working on its own and continued the rest of the stay.
LEAK: A good amount of water pooled on the floor in the downstairs bath from an upstairs leak. The owner sent someone to caulk it the next day and said he’d have someone look at it. The owner did bring extra towels without us asking.
HEAVY EQUIPMENT: We were surprised to find a bulldozer on property when we arrived. The next morning at 7:30, workers came to use it near where we parked, so we were awoken by a guy yelling at the house looking for someone to move the van.
KITCHEN: The very nice coffee carafe leaked terribly. There is no ice maker and only one tray for cubes.
ODD: I knew this property had multiple rental sections, but hoped our large group might get the whole property. We didn't. There was another couple in the back attached unit. They didn’t bother us, but it was weird. Because we weren’t the only ones there, we didn’t use the sauna and hot tub. The latter needed to be cleaned anyway. Also, there is a 2’ wide x 1.5’ high, ground level window in the downstairs bath that overlooks the shower. The glass is not frosted or obscured and at night, anybody could be looking right into the shower undetected.
Again, the property served its purpose and the owner responded quickly when we had issues. There are fixes needed and more upfront communication would be really great. We enjoyed the WiFi, common family space and TVs.
Tim is a great home owner to rent from. For the couple minor issues we had, he was responsive and had it taken care of immediately. The home accommodated our family well, it is well equipped and conveniently located with conveniences nearby.
We had a great time at this house. Made lots of memories with our family and took some day trips. It's a very nice area and the house was so nice to come "home" to. Thanks you so much!!!

This house was more that we expected. Nestled at 7200 ft of pure beauty. The entrance to Pikes Peak was just 5 minutes away with all the comforts of the city 5 minutes the other direction. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay.
