About the Property
The Creek House At Timberwolf Creek 3BR/2.5BA 3 Fireplaces And A Creek. Sleeps 8
Accommodates up to 8 in two kings, one queen, and one queen sleeper.
The Creek House at Timberwolf Creek serves as the main house of our B&B, and is offered as a 'whole house rental'. So many people asked, 'How can I have this entire place?' that we decided back in 2002 to offer it as a vacation rental, and it's been very popular ever since. Because it is furnished as a luxury B&B, you'll find the furnishing and amenities to be on a scale unusual in vacation rentals. Beds are triple-sheeted with 600 thread count linens and topped with hand-stitched quilts. Extra feather pillows are in the closets. Bath amenities are over-the-top. Award winning coffee beans await you in the burr grinder in the kitchen, which is outfitted to suit anyone with a love of cooking. Towels are Turkish cotton. There are mini-fridges in each suite. Things like that.
The house is built on the side of a mountain, so the upstream end is one story, but it's on the same level as the second floor of the downstream end. (There are lots of photos and even floor plans on our website that help make that less confusing.) On the downstream end of the house, there is a two-story gazebo porch.
So. The downstairs level on the downstream end of the house has an entry via the lower gazebo porch, into a living room furnished with double-recliner leather sofa, two wing-back recliners, flat-screen TV, wet bar, and fireplace with a 15-foot long stone hearth. There is also a king master bedroom with a Jacuzzi bathtub-for-two and french doors from both the living and bedrooms lead out onto the porch. There's also a shower bath. (If you're looking at the B&B website, the photos are of the Curve of the Creek Suite -our best.) There is a bonus room, off the living room, which houses laundry, extra linens, and has a queen sleeper sofa, should you need it.
Upstairs, the king master suite (Timberwolf Retreat on the website) has a king bed, nice sized sitting area with a chair-and-a-half and a recliner, little dining table, TV armoire, and french doors leading to the upstairs gazebo porch which is shared with the queen bedroom. The bath is spacious! It has an oversized Jacuzzi bathtub-for-two under a skylight set in vaulted red oak ceilings with massive redwood beams. Separate shower. Double vanity. The queen bedroom also has french doors leading out onto the same balcony.
Down the hall, you'll find the central entrance and then the dining room. The little covered front porch has rocking chairs that enjoy a great view of the mountainside and creek and sunsets. The dining room table seats eight, with plenty of room. There are a pair of skylights over the table. The country kitchen is fully outfitted. Patio doors from the kitchen open onto the South Porch, which sits in a bend of the creek and boasts a stone fire/barbeque pit.
There is high speed wireless internet. Basic cable TV. DVD players. And an extra iPod speaker in the kitchen. (It's a nice little JBL that will fill the place with sound.)
We can offer a shopping service to get you set up with groceries to get you through the first couple of days, and the grocery store is only about ten or fifteen minutes away. There are convenience stores much closer. And there are two places that deliver. :) We've put all our favorite restaurant, attraction, map, hiking, etc., into an information book in each suite, but are happy to answer any questions you may have.
While we do have one other cabin on the property, it's isolated from the Creek House so the house and grounds will very much be yours, and yours alone. Our own house is also nearby, but secluded. (The entire property is eight wooded acres, all together.) It's the perfect combination of private and accessible. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do.

Things to enjoy near Timberwolf Creek... Bluegrass music, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, antiques, hiking, whitewater rafting and kayaking, day trips to Asheville and Gatlinburg, waterfall hunting, and my own personal favorite: porch sitting. When the porch has a great stone fire pit and sits right next to a mountain creek, why would I want to go anywhere else?
We're less than a mile off the main road, but a hundred years from anywhere. Come enjoy the old-growth forest and the creek's cascades, and sleep to the soothing sounds of the tumbling stream.
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: I'm Sandee, the 'Inngineer' at Timberwolf Creek B&B, and the Wedding Fairygodmother. I'm the one who'll see to it that the Creek House is perfect and ready for your arrival, and answer any questions you may have. Ok, I have help with this magic. MWHL (My Wonderful Husband Larry) and Letitia the House Fairy (and wedding fairy, but that's another story). What can I say. I can't make all this magic myself. Larry and I came to Maggie Valley on vacation in 1995 and fell in love with the area. It didn't take long to figure out that we were spelling engineer wrong (at Lockheed Martin in Orlando FL) and move to Maggie Valley. Larry's still surprised that we opened for business here in 1998, but he's pretty happy about it. We haven't started missing our corporate jobs, yet. Maybe one day. ;)
Why the Owner Chose Crocketts Meadow, Maggie Valley, NC, USA:
We searched for two and a half years for the Perfect Property. When we saw this one, we both knew it was The One. Renovations have taken place over the years, and she's now truly inviting - a Southern lady with a lighthearted mountain personality. But it's the creek that made it all come together. Parking is just off the mountain lane and then you come down stone steps -under an arch of wolf laurel- to cross the wooden footbridge above the little waterfalls, and come on in. It's magical. It's spiritual. It's breathtaking. It's peaceful. It's like stepping into a dream. It's amazing what you leave behind when you step down onto that bridge. Stress is water-soluble.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
Active folks can hike and mountain-bike and golf and snow ski and whitewater raft. People like me (with a serious and heartfelt commitment to the sedentary lifestyle) will love all the different porches, each with its own unique perspective of mountain, forest, and stream.
