Cross Timbers was a wonderful cabin! It was very clean and had all the amenities of home. We could have never left the cabin and had a wonderful time. Would definitely love to return!

The cabin was nice but didn't love the area

  • 3 of 5

The cabin was very nice and it has all the amenities you would need for a getaway. The issue I had was how difficult it was to get to the cabin. We hauled a boat and nearly got stuck several times due to some very tight corners and steep hills. If you don't have 4 wheel drive, I wouldnt try it. I'm surprised there was not a warning about this.

HORRIBLE!!! Cabin has bed bugs !!! Poor management. Unresponsive management. Wasted money!!!

Our stay at this cabin was bitter sweet. The initial impression of the place was awesome. Beautiful cabin at an absolutely amazing location. Although during our 3 day stay on Father's Day weekend in June our stay there got worse. On our arrival the cabin, the hot tub smelled of fish. I notified management and they responded and got it cleaned out. Sheila, the manager ADMITTED that they accidentally forgot to clean it out. Then we noticed after each night we slept there in the beds, everyone ended up getting bites on our bodies. Each night we slept, more and more bites. We mainly stayed inside the cabin and didn't hardly go outside much. These bites itched so bad caused much pain and inflammation. My sweet children (2 year olds) even had bites near there eyes among another various parts of their body. It was horrible. I notified Sheila the manager about the bites and that each of us, 8 people, all had bites. And all fresh bites occurred upon wakening. I also sent her images of the bites. She did not offer any other cabin to stay in or did not even refund ANY amount of the 1100+ dollars we spent to stay there. I inspected the beds in the cabin and found bed bug excrement in the guest and master beds as well as bug larvae and took pictures and even sent them to Shelia Wallis the manager. I also notified VRBO about the bed bug problem. What was suppose to be a wonderful vacation turned out to be hell and misery to us. After anxiety while sleeping on the final night with new fresh bug bites, Sheila finally messaged us an hour before our departure that she had notified the health department to investigate. She said she couldn't refund our money until she got a report back from the Health Department. She also said she would meet us that day at 11am and we waited almost 45 min and she never showed up. Since over a month ago, I have messaged Sheila Wallis manager of these cabins twice to inquire what the health department found out. Both times she ignored me and didn't respond. I have given this company over a month to respond and they have failed at any attempt to make it right with us. I also was inconvenienced of having to thoroughly clean all our luggage to make sure we wouldn't take these bed bugs home. I am very very disappointed with this manager and company. I would not recommend this place unless you want to be inconvenienced by filth and bug bites. You will waste your money. And management could care less to even give customers any response.

Owner's Response: Bed Bugs are a very serious problem and very hard to get rid of. As of today 08/25/2017 we have not had bed bugs in any of our properties. We did have the property inspected after guests checked out and there was absolutely no bed bugs. Guest sent pics of bites on her and her guests. They appear to be chigger bites. Chiggers are too small to see, but they leave marks exactly like the pics that our guest sent us. Guests that left reviews of this property before and after this stay left great reviews and did not have a problem with bites. I'm very sorry that this guest had such terrible experience, however I do not believe it was due to our negligence.I responded to every call and text that was sent to me, even the ones at 2:00 a.m.

My family and I, really enjoyed our stay. The only thing I would request is, provide additional linen, for beds.
