About the property

Apartment, 1 bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

'Strike me God if I could find a better place! ' To quote one guest comment. This historic building (Nathaniel Hawthorne lived next door in 1836) boasts old Beacon Hill charm, exemplified in this apartment. The space is so well apportioned, you'll feel completely at home. In this small space, you'll find a breakfast room, office, living room, dining room and bedroom/bath. With the original marble fireplace with grand mirror above, the floor to ceiling windows, crown molding and ceiling medallion, this apartment is elegant. The lighting is designed to create whatever atmosphere you desire with dimmers on most lights, adjustable reading lamps over the bed, chandelier in the bedroom nook and under-counter and over-cabinet lights in the kitchen. The decorating is classic and comfortable.

There are many incredible restaurants within minutes by foot. Whole Foods is 2 blocks away - you can cook or pick up excellent healthy prepared foods if you just want to stay home and watch a movie.

Architectural designer/Owner has painstakingly considered every detail to make staying here a memorable and unique experience. Brand new bathroom was renovated winter 2017. Every apartment surface has been scrubbed and painted recently. This lovely 2nd Fl studio was the formal parlor for 1800s Brownstone. All new appliances including Miele dishwasher. Fully equipped kitchen. Quality linens and towels. Romantic curtained-off bedroom nook. Fresh, cozy and comfortable.

Directly behind the State House, within blocks of the Freedom and Black Heritage Trails. Skirt the State house and you're at the Boston Commons. Walk through the Commons and the Boston Gardens and you're strolling down Boston's own Champs Elysees, Newbury Street. 10 minute walk to the historic North End, the Aquarium and more shopping and dining at Faneuil Hall. Truly in the center of everything. Red, blue and green 'T' subway stops are all within a 5-10 minute walk.

Free WiFi and use of a laptop computer, a Hi-Fi radio with an iPod / MP3 player attachment, queen size pull out couch with memory foam mattress, 40 inch adjustable flat screen TV and DVD player with DVD collection, custom built-in cabinets for clothing storage, large closet including shelving to store coats, belongings, suitcases, clothes, bathroom with shower and cabinets for toiletries.

About The Owner

We are an architectural designer and social services counselor who live and work on Nantucket Island. In our spare time, we like to create 'homes away from home' and share them with friends and renting guests. We actually take a lot of pleasure anticipating one's every need in order to make each environment exceedingly comfortable and tasteful. Our children find it annoying to go to restaurants or hotels with us because we constantly deconstruct the design and reconstruct an ambiance that we would enjoy being in. An intimate, calm and comfortable ambiance is the key component to our success. We have no doubt you will feel that way in the spaces we have created on Beacon Hill. We have another apartment on Charles St. as well.

Why The Owner chose Beacon Hill

Location, Location, Location!

It's in historic Beacon Hill which is safe and has a great neighborhood feel. It's within walking distance of all the Boston must-see sites.

What makes this apartment unique

Nathaniel Hawthorne lived next door in 1836. Located directly behind the State House, within blocks of the Freedom and Black Heritage Trails. Skirt the State house and you're at the Boston Commons. Walk through the Commons and the Boston Gardens and you're strolling down Boston's own Champs Elysees, Newbury Street and Back Bay. 10 minute walk to the historic North End, the Aquarium and more shopping and dining at Faneuil Hall. Whole Foods 2 blocks away. Charles street, a 5 minute walk, is loaded with great restaurants and shops. Cambridge Street, 2 minutes away, also has lots of restaurants with all kinds of ethnic flavors. The North End, 10 minutes away, is famous for it's Italian eateries and bakeries. Truly in the center of everything.

Several parking garages nearby. Red, blue and green 'T' subway stops are all within a 5-10 minute walk.

Be at the heart of historic Boston where those feisty first Americans grumbled about taxes to the crown and then plotted the American Revolution.

Lovely and quiet Beacon Hill apartment

  • 5 of 5

Robin's apartment is beautifully appointed, and so convenient to the sights on Beacon Hill. It's an easy 10 or 15-minute walk to the Park Street Red Line "T" station, or through the Public Garden to the Green Line Arlington station. There are plenty of restaurants along Charles Street (loved Toscano, and Finagel-a-Bagel has a great selection of them for breakfasts).

While the apartment faces the street, it was amazingly quiet. The street is narrow and one-way, anyway, so there's virtually no traffic noise. The kitchen was nicely equipped with the essentials, and I found a small market on Charles Street to get some food items.

Robin was a very responsive owner, quickly answering my questions. I would unhesitatingly recommend her apartment!

Everything we could possibly need

  • 5 of 5

From start to finish, I could not have asked for anything more - from the apartment in Boston to all contact I had with Robin leading up to our visit. For starters, the location is truly amazing. In the charming Beacon Hill neighborhood, two blocks from the Charles/MGH subway station, three or four blocks from a Whole Foods grocery store, near restaurants and shops, and walking distance to so much of central Boston. The apartment itself is also amazing. Recently renovated and you can tell. It's a lovely apartment, and the owners have seemingly thought of everything you might need - I mean everything. The kitchen is well appointed. The bed is comfortable (slightly softer than the TempurPedic I'm used to sleeping on, but that's altogether a personal preference). The closet is huge and allowed us to stash all of our luggage out of sight. The shower had great water pressure. Charles St. is a fairly busy street, but the apartment is on the back side of the building, facing the alley that runs behind, so we found the apartment to be extremely quiet - both from street noise as well as neighbors. Two large windows allow a lot of natural light into the space. And I marveled at all the light sources available throughout the apartment, including two wall-mounted dimmable reading spotlights on either side of the bed. We absolutely loved Boston, and we loved this apartment. We hope to visit again, and this will be our lodging of preference.

Perfect Boston stay

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is perfect for visiting Boston. Everything you need is in the apartment and it is in a great location. It was raining one night and we had a short walk to a restaurant. I told my wife I wished we had umbrellas and she opened the closet and there were two umbrellas. The owner has thought of everything needed to make it a comfortable stay.

Lovely spacious studio with great kitchen area and comfy bed

  • 5 of 5

This studio has a great layout and felt spacious for a studio. The kitchen area with the little island and the raised area for the bed are especially nice. My stay there was very enjoyable. The location was fantastic and it was easy to walk everywhere - downtown, the Harbor, Boston Commons, Newbury Street, and the Charles River esplanade. It is also so convenient to have Whole Foods so close. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
