This distinctive ground-floor apartment is situated in the vibrant district of Cannaregio, near the magnificent Madonna dell’Orto church (and its handy vaporetto stop, offering a 20-min Alilaguna boat ride direct from the airport).

Handy, yet well-off the battered main tourist track, one can live amongst the locals as a local. Grab a caffè in a bustling pasticceria, shop in the open markets, or dine in one of the many colorful seafood restaurants lining the nearby Misericordia canal; check e-mail before heading out to explore the city over tea in your private garden.

The iconic, eponymous church of Madonna dell’Orto with its world famous collection of Tintoretto works is literally around the corner, as is the artist’s home where he lived for most of his life.

This is a ground-floor apartment that is *never* affected by high-water (although we supply boots in case it shows up outside). Draw screens down over open windows and mosquitoes will never be a problem.

This is the quintessential Venetian neighborhood, 'ben servito,' which means you can find anything from supermarkets, fresh markets, and shops for vino “al sfuso” and finer fare, to butchers to pasticcerie, from clothing and shoe to hardware stores, to bars and bàcari to notions and pharmacies. This area of the Cannaregio sestiere also boasts some of the best and most reasonably options for dining in Venice, with a host of cafes and eateries in the city. Of course, you’ll receive our insider’s list on arrival!

This cozy, airy apartment is handy to the Orto vaporetto stop serving Lines 4 and 5, and also to San Marcuola and the Grand Canal. Saunter to the San Sofia traghetto to be ferried to the Rialto Markets and all of San Polo, or hop the Ca d'Oro vaporetto instead.

For the actively inclined, just down the fondamenta Gasparini is the starting point for RowVenice.org Venetian rowing lessons.

Wonderful place to stay in Venice

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was clean and very safe. We were able to understand the neighborhood very quickly. We really felt at home in the apartment.

Live Like a Local

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is in a fantastic, off-the-beaten-path location! There are picturesque canals within a 2 minute walk from the apartment and your neighbors will be mostly local people. The neighborhood is quiet, the Orto vaporetti stop is a 2 minute walk away, and the apartment is especially well suited for traveling to Murano & Burano.

The kitchen is well stocked w/ plates, cutlery, etc, the sprawling couches are ginormous, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. Prior to our arrival, Nan e-mailed us a map showing locations of supermarkets, restaurants, bars, etc. This map was extremely helpful as the closest supermarket was at the far end of an alley about 2 meters wide! We never would have thought a fairly large supermarket was at the end of such a narrow alley! Nan very kindly offered to help us with dinner plans the first evening we were in the apartment.

While the outdoor area sounded appealing, we found it (as well as all other landscaped areas in Venice such as Giardini Publicci & the Cemetery) very buggy. We ended up using the outdoor area only for drying our laundry.

With the apartment being on the ground floor, there was only 1 step to carry our luggage up. :-) If we visit Venice again, we would definitely stay in this apartment again!

Great location and everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

We loved arriving by the Aliaguna from the airport, getting off at Orto and only having a short stroll to the apartment. An added bonus was the outside area with a washing line. The garden is not quite the oasis of colour portrayed in the website photos but it is still wonderful to have an outdoor space in Venice. The bathroom was spotless, the furnishings comfortable, especially the two couches for two tall Australians. The bedroom was very cool to sleep in and we slept with the windows open and felt perfectly safe.

We liked being away from the borders of tourists and would happily stay in the apartment again (if available) when next we are in Venice. Thanks Nan for meeting us and showing us around the apartment.

Great neighborhood!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this place! It was a quiet and cool refuge from the heat. The neighborhood is great with lots of nice restaurants and shops. We could walk all over and the water taxis are really close by too. Nan (the apartment manager) made sure we got settled in okay and was very helpful with tips and ideas on places to eat and things to see. We would highly recommend this apartment and would definitely stay here again!

Sweet apartment with best location in Cannaregio

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely extended stay at this sweet apartment in the wonderful Cannaregio neighborhood. The location of the apartment is ideal - just a few minutes walk to the Madonna dell' Orto line and a 10min walk to S.Macuola vaporetto line. The apartment was very comfortable and complete, and the pretty garden made the stay even more pleasant. We look forward to returning to Casa Corinna for our future visits to Venice.

Beautiful garden oasis.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quiet, charming oasis away from the energy of Venice. We could walk (mostly we walked) or water taxi everywhere easily and then be able to come home to a comfortable bed and quiet neighborhood. It was clean and accurately described. An issue the first day was immediately attended to and kindly corrected.
