Angler's Acre is a newly remodeled home on the Alsea River and great for those who love the outdoors. This home is within the tidal flow - the river flows both East and West depending on the tide and brings with it unique moments. There is a gas fire pit on the deck to roast marshmallows and strum guitars. See our link at the bottom to go to our website and view more information and pictures.
Relax on the deck at the patio table or chaise lounge and watch the wildlife at the waters edge. The resident bald eagle hunts the meadow across the river and four or five hummingbirds are known to 'fight' over the feeders at the windows. Seals ride the tide past the house when the Salmon and Steelhead are running. Otters are often seen playing in the river (easily viewed when in a canoe or kayak) and herds of Roosevelt Elk graze the meadow across the river.
Load and dock your boat right in the backyard or cast a line off the boat dock (the salmon in the picture was caught off the dock). There is abundant crabbing just a few miles downriver and plentiful clamming flats that can be accessed by car or more privately by boat. It is common to dig your limit in a short time. A crab cooker is available for use at the house. Take your boat up the mouth of drift creek and explore rarely seen wilderness.
The house is cozy and comfortable with roughly 1500 square feet of living space. The kitchen is open to the livingroom making cooking a fun and social event. There is a large diningroom table that seats six and an island that seats three. There are two bedrooms and a set of bunk beds in the utility room off the master. The master bedroom has a queen bed, private bathroom with 5 ft. walk-in shower, and television with cable. The smaller second bedroom has a queen bed. There is a bathtub in the other bathroom. There are ammenities for children as well, including, portable high-chair, toys for young children, a playpen, sandbox, and dvd player with childrens dvds. This is a cozy and calm place to relax.
Culinary delights are everywhere at the coast - there is a list of the best local restaurants at the house. Live entertainment can be found every night of the week.

Jeff and Denise bought the home ten years ago and have completed a full remodel of the home. They enjoy family time having large crab feeds, four-wheeling, mushroom hunting, and beachcombing. Now that our family is growing we cannot wait to share these times with our boys. We love this place and know you will too.
Denise purchased this house in 2007
The open green-space is refreshing and the crisp clean air right off the pacific calms the soul (napping is hard to resist). We love the outdoors and had always wanted a place on a river at the coast. We love to fish, crab, clam and have become obsessive (and successful) mushroom hunters. Waldport is a friendly community with miles of beach, bay and river locations. There is always something to do at the coast or just relax and take in the scenery.
Joe and Sherry are the only (close) neighbors. They are wonderful friendly people and have a dog named Anna.
*Drift Inn - Yachats (10 miles) - Entertainment every night. Great Food and Entertainment!
*Local Ocean Seafood - Old Town Newport - on the Bay
Salty Dawg - Waldport Bayfront - Full Service Bar in town
As veterans of staying in Oregon coast rental houses (mostly in the Florence area), we were wanting to try something new... and closer to Newport (our favorite place on the Coast). Waldport seemed like a pretty good compromise, and has its share of small coastal city amenities. And some four miles up the 34 is Angler's Acre... a place literally right off the highway. Be advised... cars/trucks are whipping by at high speed, but it wasn't that loud or anything most people couldn't get used to.
When we arrived, we were pleased that the VRBO pictures depicted the house as advertised - I swear that a few series of pictures of the countless vacation homes have been retouched.
First impression: a clean, older home that has been kept well by the owners. Kitchen served all of our needs (and contained nearly everything we needed); everything else we needed was available at Ray's in town.
The master bathroom looked renovated and was nice - great shower! The guest bath was a little older, but our kids found it clean & serviceable.
The washer/dryer is off the master bedroom sharing space with a pair of bunkbeds. The garage itself is locked (which is something the owners fully disclosed, having stayed at many houses which allowed for garage parking), but the carport kept our vehicle dry during the handful of days it rained.
The property itself is pretty cool - a huge lawn (which has to have served as a flood plain - the ground is soft) out back leads to the private dock on the river. The owners have a canoe, and fair warning - the river is moving faster than it looks! My kids were a bit too young to be of paddling service, but for an older crowd, canoeing up or down the river would be a real treat.
Owners had a gas BBQ in their carport - a great summer necessity. While speaking of the owners - they were very good about communicating everything. They answered every question I had via email, and were timely in doing so.
Overall, we enjoyed our time at Angler's Acre and would probably come back again. If I had a boat for crabbing or fishing, I would flat out come back in a heartbeat since their dock/slip setup on the river is so nice.
Their property is very competitively priced, and in today's economy, there's something to be said for a good value... and that's what this vacation rental was.
Two thumbs up; thanks for a good stay!
