About Marija Chandler

Hi, I am Marija, and your emails do come directly to me! I am loving life, doing lots of traveling between here in Laguna Beach, CA, and other cool destinations along the coast. As you can see, I love the beach and the ocean, traveling in addition to warm weather! I am a booking agent and specialize in Ocean close properties, primarily in Laguna, and also the booking agent of this property. If I cannot accommodate you here at our beach house, I would love to hear from you anyway. There are other properties here in Laguna Beach to choose from, North San Diego or Kauai, Hawaii! Most are here on VRBO, so send me an email to find out what is available for your vacation!

Marija Chandler purchased this villa in 1990

Why Marija Chandler chose Laguna Beach

The owners fell in love with Laguna Beach, especially between Los Angeles and Malibu! The owners originally bought this property as their private beach house for family and friends and as an investment but found the vacation rental business was better and easier to care for the property as well as to have use of it themselves. This location is incredible, so central to Orange County and Los Angeles and and an easy drive to San Diego when the occasion is required. You can get to so many places in a reasonable amount of time from the Laguna Beach, South Orange County area.

What makes this villa unique

This property has a really great floor-plan with plenty of room to stretch out and lots of privacy. It is so relaxing to be able to kick your shoes off, pour yourself a glass of wine or fresh ice tea, make yourself lunch, and and watch everything happening from the convenience of your balcony. No need to go out to brunch over the waves, you are there! Safe and secure, very private, and anywhere you want to go, it is probably found within 2 minutes to an hour. We take walks along Coast Highway for dining at the local restaurants. Or, we might just have our dinner in the courtyard with the gentle breezes! The dining table and slate patio table are large for family and guests, and if it is cool outside, we 'dine in' watching and listening to the waves! A huge fireplace for cozy nights too! We love it, and so do all of our many guests. For those who like to cook, the kitchen has everything, stainless appliances, large gas range. For beach goers, supplies are provided; boogie boards, umbrella, a few wet-suits, beach chairs etc.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This is a great vacation spot. My family and I spent a wonderful holiday here. A huge courtyard that backs up to the downtown.Gorgeous and spacious. My wife and I stayed with my parents and we never got in the way of each other. Beach is close and there is some great hiking close by. Home was clean and has everything you need. Even has a private garden for the kids on sunny lazy days!

What a perfect place for a large family retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We only wish we could have stayed longer! The three living spaces in this house gave everyone enough privacy yet everyone was still so close together. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect location. Right in the middle of the action yet beautiful beach views from the deck/patio area. The beach is an easy one block away and the house offered so many beach amenities (beach chairs, sand toys, plenty of beach towels, umbrella, etc). Tons of restaurants nearby but ended up ordering take out as it was so much easier (and less expensive) with the kids. There is a large outdoor patio table where we ate each night.

No negatives- the parking space in the garage fit our SUV and there's an additional space available as well.

Thank you and we'll be back!

A wonderful spot!

  • 5 of 5

Celebrated mom's 80th birthday here. It was great to have a place where we were together but with private rooms. The patio area was a nice gathering area where we ate, danced, talked and laughed. We squeezed two small cars in the garage but don't expect to fit two medium sized cars. Ralph's grocery store was so convenient.

Good, needed more time.....

Good experience, could use some updating, but it worked. Parking for more than 1 car was an issue... The family were great and very helpful. All in all was fun for us all.

Amazing Southern California Rental on PCH

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this home for our wedding party during our wedding weekend in Laguna Beach. Our experience was great! The rental is in great condition and rental expectations were clear and fair. The house is beautifully and centrally located in Laguna and getting around town is easy. The house itself is equipped with everything you'd need for a weekend away: cooking equipment, laundry, in-home entertainment system and an amazing amount of natural light! We loved staying here and hope to have a reason to stay again in the future!

Good for large groups

  • 4 of 5

Loud from the traffic on Coast Hwy, we could not have had a better location for our large group. Rented all 3 suites, it was perfect having a kitchen, living area in the penthouse suite. The parking shown on the listing was a little deceptive. Garage was definitely not enough for 2 average size cars - maybe able to get 2 compact cars in there. Courtyard was great for gathering while the babies napped. Ralph's Grocery Store right next door which was so convenient. Beach access close by. Suites were well equipped with cooking utensils pans and towels. Restaurants within walking distance.

The only negative we found was that the carpets were pretty dirty. 2 crawling babies got legs and feet very dirty.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review! I will take your recommendation and specifically tell guests, the only way two cars can fit into the garage is if they are compact sized and if you have a "large" vehicle, only one can fit in and if you have a giant vehicle, it will not fit in the garage and you'll need to park in the business parking lot onsite. I did send the information about the additional parking around the corner on St. Ann's drive. Also, good news! The owner is taking out the carpet and putting in hard wood floors. Hopefully, you will visit us again and see the new flooring. Kind regards, Marija

The scenic beauty of the isolated coastline and hills attracted plein-air painters in the early 1900s. William Wendt, Frank Cuprien, and Edgar Payne among others settled there and formed the Laguna Beach Art Association. The first art gallery opened in 1918 and later became the Laguna Beach Art Museum. Precursors to The Festival of the Arts and the Pageant of the Masters began in 1921, and were eventually established in their present day form by Roy Ropp in 1936. Due to its proximity to Hollywood, Laguna also became a favorite filming location. Starting in 1913, dozens of silent films were made at local coves with Harold Lloyd, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. and others. Actors and film crews stayed during long production shoots at the Arch Beach Tavern on the hillside above Moss Street. A must see is Heisler Park and all the many beaches along the coast. My favorite beach is 9th street beach, in South Laguna. There are many stairs to the sand but it is worth it as you walk to the South side of the two coves and see the grand cave. Have fun!
