About Carol/Russell Barr or Rebekah Barr

We hope you will consider staying in our home and enjoy this area as much as we do when we get to come for a visit. We grew up mid-westerners but have family in California so always came for trips never realizing we'd live here later in life. We love this community, the ocean and enjoy the artistic and relaxed atmosphere Santa Cruz and Capitola have to offer. We want to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable but not so cost prohibitive as other places are near the beach. We use our home away from home as a place to come when we need a respite from our work in France and that's exactly what it is.

Carol/Russell Barr or Rebekah Barr purchased this mobile home in 2008

Why Carol/Russell Barr or Rebekah Barr chose Central Coast

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Our home is on a main thoroughfare with easy access within a couple of miles to the freeway or .4 mi. right to the Pleasure Point beach for surfers. It's 1.4 mi. to Capitola beach. And only 1.4 mi. down the street & around to Twin Lakes beach Keep going around the bend towards the Boardwalk 3.7 mi. You can't beat it! The redwoods are 20 min. away and Monterey and Carmel just south of us. The ocean is calling.

What makes this mobile home unique

This area of the country has awesome weather. It rarely gets hot or extremely cold. It cools down in the evenings and doesn't require air conditioning. We have a nice furnace (8/15) if things get too chilly for you. Open the windows during the day and get a breeze and, if you wish, close them up at night. It usually gets cool. 70s, perfect weather in the summers and cooler 50s & 60s in the winters with cooler weather in the mornings and evenings. Don't forget to bring layers of clothing and jackets/scarves. Mornings are usually cool in the summer too.

Why go to a motel when you can stay in a home that offers so much more! 2 bedrooms, washer and dryer!, full kitchen with lots of amenities, dishes and cookware - spices, coffee and tea. The water pressure from the shower is so incredible. Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash in a convenient dispenser inside the shower. Hair Dryer & curling iron available. You won't find all those amenities in most vacation rentals.

Step outside in the backyard and enjoy the grill, sit out with friends in our cozy backyard hideaway.

There's plenty of space for your family. We have a DVD Blue-ray and also videos, DVDs and books for your family's pleasures for a relaxing day or evening. Have a baby? There is a Pak n Play you can use for sleeping or baby hang time.

We are in a wonderful surfing area! .4 of a mile no matter what time of year the surfers are here. And close to 2 great swimming beachs.

We love walking to shop and eat plus go to the nearby Dunlap's donut shop to buy apple fritters. It's a guilty pleasure. Right near by is a lovely restaurant, The Chop House. Wonderful food and other restaurants within walking distance. Or hop in the car to Ocean St. for an ice cream at Marianne's, a local hot spot. One can walk down the street to the beautifully designed Santa Cruz Library. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a short drive, bike ride or a longer walk. We have a lovely book in the home that has more detail

Great location; cozy spot

  • 5 of 5

We're just back from a wonderful long weekend. Carol could not have been more responsive in her emails or attentive to our having a great stay. The mobile home was very comfortable and made a perfect vacation spot for our family of four. The location is fantastic. It's a very short walk to wonderful shops and restaurants along Portola and on 41st Avenue. It's just a few minutes drive to markets--Lucky on one side, which worked great for us, and Whole Foods on the other--a little farther up 41st Avenue. And it's about a ten minute drive to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We went into downtown Santa Cruz for a concert at the Civic Center, and that was a very easy 15 minute drive, with easy street parting a block from the venue. A Netflix movie was our entertainment another night, and we really appreciated having such easy access to it. All in all a great place to stay!

Great location, great price

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 used Carol's place as our home base for our 4 day trip to Santa Cruz. The place was exactly as advertised and in a fantastic location! Everything was clean and in good working order. Carol and Rebecca were very responsive and good communicators. Their place is right next to a busy street and while you could hear street noise inside it didn't annoy us or keep us from sleeping. You really can't find a place with a kitchen in this area for this price. We'd come back!

Owner (Carol) was very prompt and detailed in her correspondence prior to our stay, making our arrival worry-free and departure smooth. For the convenient location you can't beat the price! We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it.

The Santa Cruz area is a great place to visit no matter what you enjoy doing. Location Location Location. We have a great one! The beaches are beautiful, and it's fun to go surfing, whale watching or see the seals lounging on top of each other on the Santa Cruz pier. It's south of San Francisco and north of Monterey and Carmel. Beautiful hills and tall redwoods. Take a train through the redwoods over to the Santa Cruz Amusement Park and Boardwalk on the beach. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is within 30 - 40 min. Santa Cruz is considered one of the best surfing areas in the world. From our place you walk 10 min. or less and you are at the beach. Watch the surfers getting in. Try your own surfing. Even if you don't surf it's fun to watch or you can get lessons. Great shopping and wonderful places to eat if you don't feel like cooking. It's an artist community who are very creative and diverse. There is something for everyone.
