We make so much out of our weeks in Chatham and all the other villages around and hope you do too! We thoroughly enjoy the charm, great beaches, nice people, great antique nooks and shopping, but most of all, great clam chowder, New England seafood and homemade ice cream! We love to jump on the bikes and peddle a loop down over the marsh to Red River Beach, then up to the Old Colony Rail Trail Bike path, then peddle to down the bike path to Hangar B Eatery and order a big stack of Blueberry Pancakes or Eggs Benedict, and watch the small planes taxi and take off! And in the morning with a low tide, drive to the N.O.A.A., walk out to the spit, and check out seals and birds, and more. But don't linger because the tide will come in! We also love to take Jim's Water Taxi at the Pier and cruise over to North Beach Island and boogie board with the seals! It is so quiet out there, we always feel like we literally have the island to ourselves....even in July and August! We love walking around Nantucket's Village which is a short ferry ride from the dock that is about a five minute drive from the house...it is a beautiful boat ride and does not feel like a ferry at all. We venture a little further into town to the acclaimed Dune Restaurant for the best lobster rolls in town! And if we are maxed out on sun, we take a drive up to Provincetown for more great food and galleries. (No worries, we will burn it off biking and boogie boarding at Marconi Beach tomorrow! )
Why Kathie chose South Chatham
Chatham is so charming and this comfortable private home is an excellent way to enjoy it. There is nothing better than walking to dinner, then sitting on the beach until the sun goes down. This home affords the easy beach life. Two popular restaurants are within walking distance, and the Chatham Fish and Lobster Company is close by if you want to grill your own in the backyard. Birdwatch at the breakfast table, or walk to the Red River Marsh. Drive to Provincetown and stop at the Cape Cod National Seashore along the way. The Nantucket Fast Ferry is a five minute drive to the dock in HarwichPort, and Martha's Vineyard also makes a great day trip from the ferry in Hyannis. There are bike trails and walking trails close as well.
What makes this House unique
See the recent CAPE COD BRIDGE TRAFFIC article in the Boston Globe and you will see why this SUNDAY to SUNDAY turn-over schedule is the best way to rent on Cape Cod. It also allows you to enjoy a Friday night in town (great restaurants and music at the bandstand most Friday summer nights), and not have to rush home to pack. Also the majority of the turn-overs occur on Saturday, so you will miss the SATURDAY turn-over TRAFFIC. This house is close to two charming villages...downtown Chatham Village and Harwich Port Village. So many shops, restaurants, and things to do!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
What a nice property. Clean with many comforts.
We really like the patio area. It was great for our barbeque. I especially liked the outdoor shower! I also like the ability to use the washer for clothes. Another plus was beach chairs and towels which used for several trips down to the beach. The sea shell drive way was very nice as I had never seen this before. One of the best parts was easy communication with Kathie. I give this property an A+ rating and will be visiting again! Thank you Kathie!
Would definitely return
The house was very peaceful and cozy, and had everything we needed.
They thought of everything!
Our family had a great time at Kathie's house! The house is very clean and has all of the amenities you'd need for a vacation. We liked all the beach toys, beach chairs, and other toys in the garage for our kids to play with. Everything inside and outside of the house is labeled which was helpful. The location is quiet. Didn't even hear any of the neighbors. Close enough to walk to a few different beaches and a quick bike ride to the cape cod rail trail. Definitely recommend.
So glad you enjoyed your family vacation, and hope you come back and stay again!
We had such a wonderful week in Chatham. The house had everything you could imagine and the property is well maintained. We spent most days at Ridgevale Beach where our two year old felt very comfortable in and out of the shallow tide pools. There are many great restaurants in the area as well as shopping, beautiful walks and biking trails, ice cream shops and the ferry to Nantucket (which is a must). It was the perfect family vacation and we hope to return again next summer!
We are so glad to hear our home and the many amenities in the area worked out well for your vacation, and hope you return as well!
Vacation with the kids!
This home had everything we needed and then some! Great location, super clean, comfy beds, well equipped and organized. Beautiful home! The kids had an awesome time riding their bikes! We enjoyed our time here.
So glad you enjoyed your vacation and made use of everything we have at the house! Hope to see you return!
July 2018 vacation
My family enjoyed a truly relaxing vacation in this lovely home. The home owners are extremely detail-oriented and organized. The binders they left are full of a bevy of information and provide details on everything you could need or want. The house is close to two beaches and they have plenty of beach chairs and beach gear to help you relax and entertained. The secluded back yard provides a quiet area to sit, relax and enjoy. Located just a short drive from restaurants, grocery shopping or downtown was an added bonus. If we choose to return to the Cape for vacation again we would definitely stay at this lovely home again.
...and we would love to have you back! Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are so glad you enjoyed your vacation.
Chatham is a beautiful seaside town with all the New England charm you would expect including fabulous beaches, restaurants, boating and more. Watch a Chatham Anglers baseball game or work off those 'Lobsta' rolls and 'Chowda' biking for miles on the rail trail, or visit the Cape Cod National Seashore a short drive away. Ferry to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard for the day, or drive to Provincetown for the galleries and fresh taffy and fudge.
