About The Owner

Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.

My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.

Lovely property!

The location of the apartment was good, including its proximity to the Mazzini garage for parking the car. The property was very attractively decorated and met our cooking needs. Its location on what in the U.S. we would designate as the 5th floor meant incredible views of the city from all windows of the apartment. These views changed as the light changed. Note that although the property description says "elevator", there is one to the 4th floor. You walk up to the 5th floor.

Hi Sonia we certainly want everyone to know about your wonderful apartment in beautiful Lucca! We had such a great time. From the beginning, when you met us and explained everything, until the end when you kindly arranged for our taxi to the airport, our stay was perfect. The apartment is lovely - well furnished, light and airy, with views of Lucca's rooftops from every window. We had everything we needed, including an elevator, which was so welcome after hours of walking! The location of the apartment is ideal- close to restaurants, groceries and shopping ( and the fine Lucca Italian School), yet there was no noise. We especially loved Nonna Clara, the little trattoria nearby, where the food was delicious and the owner and staff were so friendly. Another thing we loved was our cooking class with Giuseppe. It was one of the highlights of our stay and we thank you for the recommendation. Lucca is such a magical place - seemingly spared from modernization and development. Other than a few very hot days, we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful week. 5 stars! Best regards, Helen and Abby

Great location - beautiful apartment

  • 5 of 5

Loved this apartment. Large and great layout. Nice kitchen. Amazing View.

The only negative would be that the elevator only goes to the third floor and the apartment is on the 4th. This means you need to drag your suitcases up one steep flight. Could use screens on bedroom windows.

A home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place to stay in Lucca if you are there for five days or more (and it is certainly a city worth spending time in). It is perfect for those with mobility issues because there is an elevator to reach the apartment door. The flat itself has everything you could want - a fully equipped kitchen including all the basic provisions to make a meal, such as olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bathroom is new and recently done as Sonia told us and has a an excellent shower and is well lit. The living room is very comfortable, with quality couches. There is useful reading material in English about Lucca. And importantly, the bed, in a separate bedroom with good cupboard space is also very comfortable. The highlight for us was the view and the interiors - relaxing for having lunch or a glass of wine at the table, and being able to gaze around at Lucca's architectural wonders. There is a high quality grocery/delicatessen/wine shop practically next door (to the right from the front door) selling the best of Tuscan produce, and a very large supermarket tucked away downstairs in an arcade to the left just a minute's walk away. We tried a variety of local restaurants. We had several outstanding culinary experiences, and preferred the unpretentious osteria which offer limited menus of good home style Tuscan cooking and decent house wine for very reasonable prices. Lucca is a small city, and all its major attractions are within an easy stroll of the apartment. It also makes a good base to explore the Tuscan countryside or for a day trip to Florence. Not having a car we booked a day trip with local guide, to visit some wineries to try the famous red wines of Montecarlo. This was a great day out with a very engaging and knowledgeable guide. We highly recommend a stay in this Tuscan flat. Jane & Mat NY USA

Bellissima Lucca

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 3 stayed in this wonderful apartment for a week in January 2015. It is exactly as described with the most spectacular views of both Lucca and beyond. It is large, warm, comfortable and very tastefully decorated and given the age of the palazzo is very modern. The inclusion of faultless and unrestricted wireless internet is a must. Sonia was an absolute pleasure to deal with - prompt with communication both prior to and during our stay. I agree that the bathroom is quirky, and whilst the shower is small the bathroom appears to be fairly new and is totally acceptable and the inclusion of a washer/dryer is again a must. We would thoroughly recommend this apartment and a visit to the wonderful town of Lucca - this was our second visit and won't be our last.

Car: not necessary

Lucca, beautiful city, famous for its monumental 15th century fortified wall. But dig a little deeper and you find that its winding medieval streets actually follow the plan laid out by the Romans in 180BC. And before the Romans, Lucca was one of the major centres of Etruria, the ancient country of central Italy that more or less corresponds to modern Tuscany. Unsurprisingly then, Lucca is steeped in history. Your twelfth century building is just a small part of that. There are museums and churches, and the magnificent cathedral, the Duomo di San Martino, is the town’s finest Romanesque building, its impressive façade a triumph of sculpture, carving and inlay work – at just five minutes’ walk from the apartment. Modern delights include terrific restaurants, bars and shops, all within a few minutes’ walk. In Lucca’s winding streets, the pedestrian comes before the car, so you can move at your own pace. In fact wandering the streets is one of the great pleasures of the city.
