About the property

2 Story House, 2 Bedrooms + Recreation Room, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Just a quarter mile from the front gate, we are close to everything! Scenic Pine Mountain Lake is a half a mile or so from our front door. Sit on the grass under the trees and enjoy the lake environment.

The 18 hole Pine Mountain Lake championship golf course is a mile away. Visit the Country Club for dinner or The Iron Door Saloon, the oldest continually running saloon in California, which is right uptown, just outside the gate.

Reach Yosemite floor in less than an hour. Unparalleled beauty by day and an easy ride home at its end. Visit Jamestown, Sonora, and the quaint town of Murphy's with its well-known wineries, restaurants, day spas, concerts, and live events. Tuolumne's Black Oak Casino is a half hour away.

Our 1600 square foot two-story house gives you plenty of room to spread out. With two queen-sized beds, one full futon, one twin bunk, and a pull-out sofabed, you can fit everyone. TV on both floors and a ping-pong table for activity. We have a huge backyard area for all sorts of ball playing.

Relax out on the porch to watch the sun go down and look for the deer. Bar-b-que or pick up some great Mexican food in town. Use the kitchen to cook dinner or mix drinks.

One note: renters have been surprised to discover that Pine Mountain Lake Association charges a per car one time fee of $25, recently increased. This fee does not get paid through this site, but is remitted at the gate upon entrance

About Martina Lawlor

I teach middle school and love to be around kids that age. But I also love to get away to the mountains for the weekend to relax.

My kids are in their thirties, and I look forward to the day when I can look off the deck and see little ones playing horseshoes and swinging from the rope on the old oak tree out back.

Martina Lawlor purchased this house in 2001

Why Martina Lawlor chose Yosemite Area

The location of a lake property in a gated community less than three hours from Silicon Valley with our home's location so close to the gate, the lake, and the golf course made it an intoxicatingly easy decision to buy into Pine Mountain Lake. Knowing others could enjoy a home we can't use full time seemed to enhance its attractiveness.

What makes this house unique

To be in a community yet feel as alone as one wishes, to walk outside at night in the dark and see a sky filled with all the stars one can't see at home, to walk alongside deer and not have to listen to the sound of freeway noise...what a life. What a joy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I had a great time with my grandkids here at your house. It's so large, the kids loved the space and the ping-pong table and running around out back. You have a beautiful home and it made our time away really enjoyable and comfortable! Thanks you.

Lovely comfortable house in gated community

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time in the spacious house with its cozy fireplace and lounge and enjoyed the gated community with stunning golf course and lake. Everything worked so well in the house and the town was quaint and not too far from Yosemite. An unforgettable family vacation. I highly recommend you staying here and Martina was a super host.

Beautiful lake area

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the house. We have two young boys who had a great time with the room upstairs, bunk bed, and ping pong table. The lake and surrounding area was beautiful. We took a one hour drive to enjoy the beauty and snow of Yosemite. The only negative thing we found was the $25 fee to enter the lake area properties, kind of unexpected. We would definitely recommend the house for a fun and peaceful time away.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

Martina's place was perfect for us (2 couples looking to do Thanksgiving in Yosemite). Here are a few facts that may be useful:

-There is a full and fully equipped kitchen (pots, pans, multiple crockpots, knives, cutting boards, etc)-- we cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner, including a 15 lb turkey, and the only equipment we brought was a disposable turkey pan, tin foil, and paper towels.

-It takes about 45 minutes to get to the Yosemite Park gate, and 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to Yosemite Valley from the house.

-The property is only a couple of minutes (driving) to businesses in Groveland-- grocery store, liquor store, pizza place, etc.

-There is a bedroom upstairs and a bedroom downstairs, providing plenty of privacy between the two areas. Beds are super comfortable and we slept like rocks after a day of hiking in the park.

-The place is *super* clean!

All in all, a great trip. Martina was super helpful and provided us with all the info we needed to enjoy our stay. Would definitely recommend.

Great location to explore Yosemite and enjoy the quiet lake side atmosphere.

Comfortable house. Clean tidy good beds. Overall positive experience. Fun to have a beer at iron door and swim at lake beach would be a nice place to spend 4 or 5 days relaxing and exploring Yosemite.

Great place in a very good location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 3 days during the labor day weekend. Our family completely enjoyed the vacation. Martina was very helpful and answered all our questions (there were a lot of questions). She sent us documents about what to do and how to get there. I disregarded this early as I thought google maps would be sufficient. But there is no network coverage for ATT or T-Mobile in Yosemite area. So finally these documents helped us get there safer.

About the place: The cabin is in a great location. About hour and half from Yosemite valley, 1 mile from pine mountain lake and 20 mins away from rainbow pools. These are the places we visited. The house itself was very clean and we were able to cook great food and enjoy it all 3 days. The kitchen was stocked with good supplies of spices and basic cooking needs. We also enjoyed playing ping pong or pool in the evenings.

I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great family vacation.

Mountain cottage near Yosemite

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for three nights and had a lovely stay. Although the house decor is outdated, everything was very clean, neat and comfortable. The towels and bedding were just like at home, if not better, and the kitchen was well stocked -- much better than other homes I have rented. The house provided a lot of room, so we never felt crowded. It was great having activities such as horseshoe, ping pong and the porch swing. The porch was one of my favorite parts -- so quiet and relaxing. We went to Yosemite from the cottage. The drive was beautiful and not that far. Pine Mountain Lake was nice, but we preferred the national park. Martina was a joy to work with. I felt like I was communicating with a friend -- very responsive and full of good advice.
