My Glacier House
About My Glacier House
Your Hostess is a great lover of the wilderness, its animals, its weather, its preservation. I am a retired speech therapist of the Blackfoot Nation. I learned to skii and love the snow and adventures in Montana, 1970s. I'm an avid hiker, cross-country skiier, snowshoer, traveler. The trees, animals, mountains, rivers are my guardian. I have lived in 18 countries teaching English as a Second Language, Speech Therapy. I have a daughter who is horse crazy, a whitewater raft guide, and an artist of wire and water color. I hope travelers who wish to experience the wonders of nature, take adventures of self discovery, will make an inquiry with me.
My Glacier House purchased this House in 2004
Why My Glacier House chose Essex
This rustic home is nestled between the forests of the Great Bear Wilderness and Glacier International Peace Park. My community is called Pinnacle, 6 miles north of the village of Essex. MyGlacierHouse lies 20 miles south of W. Glacier, 36 miles south and west of E. Glacier, perfect for the adventurer. Guests can easily visit Waterton Park on the Canadian side. Easy access to dining and spirits of all flavors, on the East or West. Crystal clear sky viewing-milkyway! Amtrak arrival and car rental is 6 miles away.
What makes this House unique
The home is a two story log house, warm wood heat of winters and cool mountain breezes of summers. The house is naturally air conditioned by the cool nights of the summer which last all thru the 90 degrees of the summer day. Wild strawberries, june berries and infamous huckleberry picking is available. Stars, planets and milkyway viewing; dazzling moonlit nights. Wildlife come to visit frequently viewed through 4 southern exposure windows, with caution and respect due to them by all visitors/occupants. The hostess lives on the property in the apartment above the barn. Your privacy is greatly respected and undisturbed. Walking access to river beach and fishing.

Glacier House stay
This is our second stay a this property. Owner is a colorful personality who is interesting to chat with and the house is a rustic log cabin appropriate to the area. It is conveniently located between the West and East entrances to Glacier NP.
Other than weather related issues we enjoyed our stay...you can’t control the weather in the mountains!!
Much gratitude to these kind compassionate people who came back a second time! I thank all the guests who have come into my life in the past years. Safe journeys to you all.
Close to West Glacier!
We enjoyed our stay and were only a short 20 min drive from the West Glacier entrance. Penny was very helpful in helping us navigate the park.
Delightful experience with guests from all over the states. It’s important to me to assist guests in any way I can, especially changing road conditions and offering maps to guests. Love sharing my paradise.
Loved the house. Loved the hostess. If you want personal privacy at night, forget it. A little noise when the trains go through. The highway is not as noisy. Great location to see Glacier and the area.
The train had a part in the building of Glacier Park. It’s sorry that trains can be noisy. You can take the Amtrak to Essex, rent a car, stay at the house and experience GP. Nice review, thanks much.
Beautiful cabin, awesome location.
Loved our time there and enjoyed the cabin immensely....everything from the smell of the pines to watching the hummingbirds. Loved the cabin itself and all the work Penny has put into it....from her collection of home grown herbs to her scrapbook of Glacier history. Cabin has lots of room, especially in the loft. And the location is excellent being centrally located between both the east and west entrances to the park.
And Penny herself is a wonderful lady and very welcoming. If we do this trip again we will definitely plan on staying here again.
I’m humbled. Love my guests, such an interesting delightful slice of American pie. I truely love sharing my house. Please return.
Overall very enjoyable stay!
The property was lovely, comfortable, peaceful and quiet!
Penny was helpful and knew the area very well.
Satisfied guests are what it’s about. I’m always glad to be of assistance. Thanks for staying at my property
The cabin was was very nice. There was 10 of us and we had plenty of room.
We visited Glacier and the views and hiking were amazing. The overall experience worthwhile.
Guest comfort and satisfaction is most important to me. A great time to visit Glacier National Park, Great Bear Wilderness and don’t forget Glacier International Peace Park.
