The Upper East Side is known for being New York’s—possibly the country's—most elegant residential neighborhood, with streets near Park and Fifth Avenues conveying the hushed ambiance of the privileged and powerful. The majority of apartment buildings here were built between the turn of the century and the 1930s.
Fifth Avenue is entirely residential in this area except for the many cultural institutions along its 'Museum Mile,' home to the City's highest concentration of cultural institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the MoMA, Whitney, and Guggenheim museums, the Frick Collection and many smaller high-quality institutions. Also here are the elegant residential enclaves of Sutton and Beekman Place. Carnegie Hill is the City's most coveted neighborhood for families, and Yorkville toward the East River is a popular home to young professionals and singles who enjoy stunning river views and the added perk of Carl Schurz Park.
Central Park, on the western border of this area, makes a world-class front yard—with its zoo, tennis courts, formal gardens, bridle paths, running tracks and reservoir. Madison Avenue—possibly the world’s most famous retail address and famed center of the advertising industry in the mid-20th century—entices shoppers with boutiques like Chanel, Prada, Tiffany and fashion mecca Barney's New York, and a more commercial strip runs through the southeast corner, anchored by Bloomingdale’s at 59th Street and Lexington/Third Avenues.
World-class hotels in the neighborhood include the Carlyle, the Mark, the Lowell and the Plaza-Athene, and dozens of fine restaurants line side streets. Transportation includes a number of buses and Subway (runs 24/7) stations at 77th Street and Lexington Avenue (2 BLOCKS FROM the BUILDING!) as well as plenty of taxi that are running 24/7.

What a great spot!! Clean and cozy... Great location 5 blocks from Central Park and easy to get around. Local restaurants around the apartment are great also. The apartment is perfect for a single vacationer or a couple. I highly recommend this space and will stay again when I come to New York
The townhouse is lovely- well appointed, incredibly clean, and spacious- even by non- NYC city standards. While visiting NYC, chances are you are not sitting in your place... (if you are- you're not doing it right!). This is a perfectly comfortable place to rest up for more sight seeing and wandering the massive city. There are 3 flights of stairs and there is street noise- these are all to be expected- but prepare for these, just in case. There are amazing restaurants and cafes and shops in the area- centrally located to most anything you'd like to see. I've stayed in Hell's Kitchen and Chelsea and thought this area was terrific too!
The owner was kind and accommodating. I would definitely recommend to friends and family and I plan to return! Thanks, Rahima!
The location was excellent for us. Easy access to Central Park, the public transit system, and good restaurants. The paint is fresh and clean, the water is hot, and the kitchen is well stocked. We will definitely use this property again if we need to be in Manhattan again for an extended period of time.
A friend and I stayed here for 3 nights-- the apartment was plenty of space for just the two of us. At the time, when we stayed, it was not the connected "loft" it was just a studio/one room with a bathroom ( so I can't speak to what the loft/other room is like now that she rents out the whole top part) but we still thought just the one room had plenty of space. It was clean and as described in the listing. The bathroom is small, but as described and there was a mirror in the main room so two people had plenty of room to get ready. The owner was very punctual and nice to us. The rules of the "house" are very strict and the owner had a pretty lengthy explanation of what and where to recycle, how to lock all the doors ( you had to go through three to get into the building) and shutting off the lights, etc....we kind of felt like she treated us like young irresponsible children, despite being in our 30's ( and very responsible)-- but she was nice and we understood that she was just trying to keep her place nice. She did let us store our bags until 2p on our check out day which was nice so that we didn't have to drag them around until our flight. It is at the top of 5 flights of stairs so be aware of that/make sure you are capable of walking stairs. Overall, the apartment was quiet, clean and we really just slept there. We were able to walk to the subway station just a few blocks up, and there was plenty of restaurants/cafes nearby. We enjoyed Cafe Noi if you are looking for a nice little breakfast/coffee! If you're looking to stay in the upper east side, this place works well! Make sure to do your research though- as you will need to take the subway (its quite a walk) to get to midtown/ times square/ broadway/ the rock, etc.....however, it is close/walking distance to central park and the MET. Again, the subway isn't far though and you can easily get to those locations on the subway. Just be aware of your location and where is the best place to stay for your agenda! Overall, had no problems and we would stay here again!
Rahima is an excellent host and the place could not be better. I am already recommending it.
The owner is very accommodating. She even brought in a fan for my wife. She let us drop off our luggage early. It is decorated nice. She is available by email or text for questions. The apt is in a great location. Close to museums and Central Park. Subway access is close too. There are 4 flight of stairs to get to room. The neighborhood is safe. Definitely will come back again to this location. We had to stay 2 days at a hotel because location did not have all the days we needed. And we really liked the apt. Better than the hotel. Will recommend to friends.
