About Anne and Bob Fahning

We have always had an interest in history and older homes. When this house became available we were able to see past the years of neglect . It is an amazing home with 3 floors and is situated on 190 feet of waterfront on the Niagara River. A uniquely special property for all seasons! From golfing, fishing , swimming and sunbathing to hiking and skiing you'll find it all nearby!

Anne and Bob Fahning purchased this house in 2012

Why Anne and Bob Fahning chose Grand Island

This home is rich in history and happens to be only 1/4 mile from our home so it was the perfect fit for us.

It is a large enough home for everyone to be able to find space to meet their needs.

What makes this house unique

Year round our home is very special. We'll keep you cozy in the winter and outside and busy in the summer.

You'll have a unique opportunity to stay in a somewhat rural community while being only 10-15 minutes from both Buffalo and Niagara Falls. No hustle and bustle here. You can actually hear the birds chirping.

Perfect Location for Autumn Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5

Various members of my family met at this VRBO location for a long-overdue reunion. This is a beautiful piece of property that provided us nice space to relax and reacquaint with each other. All of the facilities are very well-maintained. The house was updated very well while keeping its colonial characteristics. Everything was extremely tidy and clean - not a speck of dust anywhere. The kitchen is well-appointed for cooking decent meals. The bedrooms were all quite comfortable with nice bedding. The Murphy bed in the front parlor is a nice feature for people with physical limitations for climbing stairs to the second -floor rooms. The towels and other linens provided were all of good quality.

As an air traveler, I appreciated the presence of shampoo and body wash in each bathroom.

The location of this house on Grand Island is really quite nice. As visitors to the area, we were able to easily access Niagara Falls and other tourist attractions, yet enjoy some peace away from the hubbub of the city. Grand Island itself is quite interesting and beautiful for a vacation destination. There are numerous parks around the island worth exploring.

It was nice to have lots of literature available in the house regarding the local attractions.

Anne is a very pleasant property owner/manager. My communications and transactions with her were all very positive. She is very knowledgeable about the area and offers appropriate suggestions for things such as dining and activities. She was prompt and detailed with all of her email communications.

If I should ever find myself in that part of the country again, I wouldn't hesitate to rent this property. It felt like home to all of us.

Family Game Getaway

  • 4 of 5

This spacious home with unique rooms was big enough to accommodate our party of 11 people. The owner was quick to respond to questions or requests regarding the property. The house is situated in an area which is conveniently located near Niagara Falls and Buffalo. House had everything you could possibly need. The neighbors were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this property to others. Anne thank you for everything .

Cute, with plenty of space for guests

  • 5 of 5

The property had everything we needed, from toys for my daughter, a well-laid out space, fans and a pack'n'play, clear instructions (and not too many!), private parking, easy drive to the falls. The owners have done this before!

More importantly, Anne was proactive with communicating from the date of the initial reservation. She checked in via phone at our arrival, and was nearby if we had any issues. Deposit return was prompt.

Wonderful accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at this lovely home when my daughter got married. Couldn't have worked out better. It's a lovely, spacious home. We made use of the whole house (and hot tub) and had a lovely dinner on the back deck. I would recommend this home to anyone!

Perfect Venue

  • 5 of 5

My daughter was celebrating her wedding in the Buffalo Area and since we are out of town we decided to rent a home. Great Choice. The house was the perfect venue for a Wedding base of operations. The house is easy to get to and conveniently close to the GI Bridge. The home is beautifully decorated (nicer than my own) with some rooms being early 20th century and others more modern. There are 4 bedroom upstairs and one parlor that serves as a bedroom. With 2 full baths and the aforementioned bedrooms you can easily sleep 10. There is a large dining room and a large back porch. The Kitchen is large and is well stocked. It seems previous guests left quite a few staples so it kept me from having to run right out to the store (be sure to pay it forward). There is a hot tub which we made use of, and a large lawn/dock area across the street (it is beautiful but time did not allow us to use). There is a large number of bikes and games in the basement, good wifi. There were many TV's and cable but we did not use.We made great use of the house for wedding pictures. Parking is ample, we easily parked 3-4 cars.We are very grateful to Anne and Bob for the use of their home. They were gracious hosts and available when needed.

A few minor items - the stove is small, I was able to use for a breakfast, but for dinner plan to use the gas grill provided; There are 10+ foot ceilings - that means there are a lot of stairs between floors (10-12), it was not a problem for us but if you had elderly or disabled it could be an issue; the road in front is relatively busy - children will need supervision.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review. We are so glad that the house was such a good fit for your family! I want to point out that the first floor bedroom and bath has been useful for folks with mobility issues. Also I'm sorry if I did not point out that there is a full size range and oven in the game room downstairs for those large family dinners. We hope to see you back again!

Lovely Family Time in a Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

We had many relatives coming from out of state to our son's wedding in Buffalo. This house was a beautiful and spacious setting for family members to stay and to visit with each other. Everything is very nicely decorated and all the kitchen utensils that we needed, were supplied, as well as towels, blankets, etc. The children's toys and games available, came in handy for the younger ones. We stayed 3 nights and filled up the house with 12 people! We would highly recommend it to anyone.
