Historic District House Rental Photos and Description

Historic Home (1896), 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Welcome to the O'Connor House, featured in the 2011 Secret Garden Tour and the 2012 Azalea Festival Home Tour. The home was completely renovated with all the modern conveniences and upscale decor. The perfect location for wedding visitors and vacationers. Centrally located in town (truly walking distance to downtown restaurants and activities) makes it convenient to churches and reception facilities and after the wedding take a walking tour of historic downtown Wilmington right from our front door; or take a horse drawn carriage ride and learn about the history of this city; or take a trolley tour past the mansions and restored homes dating back to the American Revolution and Civil War; or just sit back and enjoy the visitors passing your front porch on their way to the farmer's market, Azalea Parade or Fourth of July fireworks. And for our wedding guests, the horse drawn carriage and trolley rides are popular means of transportation to the church or reception location

Wilmington has so much to offer and the O'Connor House is so convenient! So, spend a vacation in town. Save a little money and enjoy the city. And if you like to get away to the beach, it is only a short 15 minute ride to the beautiful beaches of Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach or Kure Beach. And golfers, there are numerous courses in town or just a short ride away.

The O'Connor house has 4 bedrooms: Master with full bath, a large porch, a fireplace and king size bed. 1 Queen bedroom with a rear private porch overlooking the patio and gardens, 1 large queen bedroom with a fireplace and a bedroom with a twin bed and a twin trundle. The upstairs also has an additional bathroom.

The downstairs has a large living room with fireplace and a HD tv, a dining room with a fireplace and seating for 8, a large fully equipped kitchen with new ss appliances, dishwasher and breakfast area. There is a den off the kitchen with an HD tv and wireless internet service. There is also a powder room.

There is parking in the rear for 2 cars off a private driveway, a patio and rear covered porch with a gas grill. Our housekeeper and gardener make sure the house is spotless and the garden is always in bloom!!

What makes this house unique

The O'Connor House is one of the few rental homes truly in the downtown Historic District of Wilmington. Our town is a beautiful, small historic city and the Hollywood of the East. The hit series REVOLUTION is filmed in Wilmington as well as film hits: IRON MAN 3, WE'RE THE MILLERS, and THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND. It has so much charm from its' walking tours, horse drawn carriage rides and trolleys to its' magnificent mansions, historic district and wooden river walk. The river walk is over a mile in length and has many shops, restaurants, and parks along its' path. It is less than two blocks from the O'Connor House. At the Riverfront Park along the path there is the annual Downtown Sundown Concert Series beginning in May and running through September 2nd. Every Friday evening there is a concert with beer, wine, and food available. For a schedule of the concert line-up and event information see WilmingtonDowntown dot com.

What a gem!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a wedding weekend in this fabulous home! The house was full of charm and catered to the needs of children, adults, and the elderly. It was close to downtown allowing us the ability to walk to restaurants and the wedding events.

Mystery girls trip

  • 5 of 5

I was a planner for our sixth mystery girls trip. Two planners, no one else (6) knew where we were going. Lots of pressure on the planners and the O'Connor house did not disappoint! What a beautifully restored house with everything we could need to be comfortable. Easy walking distance to downtown with a beautiful front porch that we enjoyed morning and night. I cannot say enough about the O'Connor house. Rent it, you will not be sorry.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at the O'Connor house October 9 - 16, 2016. We booked it for our daughter's wedding in Wilmington on October 14. Hurricane Matthew was an uninvited guest and made for some exciting stories!! The house was absolutely beautiful, better than our already high expectations from viewing the web-site. Spacious and comfortable and oh so pretty - we made use of every room and both the front porch and rear garden. Everything we could possibly need was available, right at our fingertips - now that makes for a true vacation!

Angie, the property manager, was a pleasure to deal with in every way - from booking the reservation and answering questions, to our delayed arrival due to the storm, to questions we had once we arrived - she was quick to respond and very gracious. We knew we were in good hands and had no worries whatsoever.

We hope to return to this wonderful home for another week when we do not have a wedding to host, and can just relax and enjoy beautiful Wilmington. The location is an easy walk through a beautiful historic neighborhood to downtown and all that Wilmington has to offer.

It was really perfect in every way!

Wonderful house!

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed staying at the O'Connor house during our daughter's wedding. It was the perfect gathering place for both friends and family members. Everyone loved the space, including the great front porch. The kitchen was perfect for several meals there and we had plenty of room upstairs too. The house was just three blocks from the wedding venue so it was extremely convenient for everyone. The bridesmaids came to the house for makeup and to dress before the wedding. I know the photographer got some wonderful pictures there too. Angie was great to work with and returned my calls/emails immediately. We all hope to return to the house for our annual "beach" vacation next summer! Thanks so much!

Wonderful well appointed home with EVERYTHING you need to enjoy a wonderful Wilmington Experience

  • 5 of 5

This home is lovely, while it is a historic home, it has all modern features so you enjoy a large well stocked kitchen, nice modern baths and laundry facilities, yet all the charm associated with the period. Two of the bedrooms are very large and spacious, the other two were a very nice size - all have comfy mattresses and beautiful linens. The Location is EXCELLENT - you can walk two blocks and be on Water Street downtown Wilmington. The downtown area is full of wonderful restaurants, galleries and rich variety of boutique shops - all along the scenic Cape Fear River. Lots of outside dining opportunitys. It can be difficult to find parking downtown so being walking distance makes this a great location. The property manager let me know she was just a phone call a way if we needed anything - of course we did not...., prior to arriving she answered every question and made me feel that our stay was very important to her.... we were in town for my daughters wedding and the stay at this beautiful home suited us all perfectly. The VRBO site cannot adequately display how lovely this home is....We plan to return and will definately stay at the O'Connor House again. I highly recommend this home and the management. I would be happy to answer any questions a potential visitor may have. Thank you for a wonderful experience! Donna Moore
