Thank you for a wonderful weekend! Upon arriving to the house we were not sure if this was the house because it was so big and beautiful. Once inside we were even more amazed at the beauty of it all. The floors and decor are gorgeous and so many great amenities. We imagined ourselves living here!
We have come to love Pacific Grove and can not wait to return again in the near future.
We have stayed here twice and loved every aspect of it. We are a family of 6 adults (2 couples and 2 single guys), and this year, we included a super-well-behaved dog. There were couch quilts laid out to protect the furniture from the dog.
The kitchen is VERY well stocked, though I would have appreciated perhaps a jar of mayo in the fridge.
Once we got the tv working, we tried to record Warriors basketball games...but there didn't seem to be a way to do it, so it would have been nice to have that service connected.
Location is everything. Pacific Grove is one of our favorite places on the planet. This house is at the end, maybe 1/4-1/2 mile beyond Lover's Point. The street is QUIET and the neighbors are wonderful. I needed an onion on 12/25 for scalloped potatoes, but all stores were closed. My son took some homemade cookies and went knocking on doors...and returned w an onion and a smile.
We spent a day at the aquarium, a day at Pt. Lobos, evenings playing silly games and watching movies...and doing LOTS of cooking, including deep frying a turkey on the patio.
We will return, for sure. Master bedroom and huge bathroom and balcony are dynamite.
We just got back from a lovely trip to Pacific Grove. Otter's Rest was a great house for our multi-generational family. The bedrooms upstairs are huge, plenty of room to spread out. We used the hot tub, BBQ, and fire pit, all while listening to the crashing waves. We walked down to the beach often (and all around town). It's such a wonderful town for strolling. The kids played in the park across the street. It is such a quiet, peaceful area. We loved the heated floors downstairs. So cozy! One rainy afternoon, we lit the fireplace and snuggled up on the couches. We liked the pet coverings on the couches. We didn't have pets with us, but nice to know they can wash the coverings in between visits. The kitchen was very well-appointed. We have stayed at many VRBO rentals and this kitchen had just about everything. We will be back!
The property had a nice view of the ocean from the Master Bedroom, we could even hear the waves at night. The hot tub and remodeled kitchen are a plus. Unfortunately, there were several issues that negatively impacted our stay. The carpet in the house is stained and looks to need a good cleaning. Several walls were marked up and in need of paint. The couches were covered in pet-type throws and we were not traveling with pets! The furniture in the master bedroom and second bedroom was not as pictured on the site. The beds were just mattresses on frames, not the furniture pieces as pictured and the side tables looked like they were from a garage sale. Overall, not as expected at this price point.
Beautiful home and garden- we enjoyed the view and was such a relaxing time. Great attention to detail. Loved going to Sea Harvest for fish for dinner to cook on the BBQ and in the glorious kitchen!
What a beautiful home to spend time in while exploring Pacific Grove and the Monterey Peninsula! Three senior couples couldn't have been more pleased. The home is lovely and kept clean, including windows, by the home manager, Julia. The kitchen was perfect for preparing meals to enjoy in the lovely dining room. You can walk to the shore and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific. Walk as far as you wish. One unique attraction, very close to the home, is the Point Pinos Lighthouse which dates from 1855. It is a delightful, historic lighthouse. The village, or old downtown Pacific Grove is also worth a visit. You can't go wrong with staying here. We also enjoyed a drive to Carmel and Carmel Valley, the Aquarium and Monterey State Historic Park.
Beautiful / comfortable and well equipped home in a nice quiet location of Pacific Grove. The house is immaculate and we enjoyed hanging out as a family with easy walk to both the water as well as various shops / restaurants in PG. We used the outdoor amenities quite a bit and our boys enjoyed climbing on the rocks near the water and trees at the small park on the street. We would definitely return for a stay at this home the next time we are in PG.
The Monterey Peninsula is unique in its combination of breathtaking natural resources and a multiplicity of cultural and entertainment possibilities. You can find something for every possible taste. For nature lovers, there is the diversity of mountain and sea, for picnicking, surfing, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, beach combing, bird-watching, kayaking, scuba diving, tide pooling, biking and more. If you want a man-made excitement, we have art galleries galore, excellent fine-art museums, local theater, outstanding restaurants, boutiques, a natural history and a children's museum, a world-class aquarium, and that's just for starters. History buffs will have a field day exploring the adobes of Monterey. There's so much to do that you cannot possibly do it all in one visit, which means you will have to come back.
