Chapelizod is a small, quiet village nestled in the Liffey Valley, it is bypassed by a motorway on one side and bordered by the Phoenix Park on the other. Chapelizod is proud of being the first settlement upriver of Dublin City, which was established in 988AD. It is more in keeping with quiet country life than the bustle of Dublin City life, yet its close proximity gives it its unique ambience.
Enter our house, the first of a red-brick, Victorian terrace of 11 houses (built by Lord Clayton, for his officers in 1899) from the imposing granite steps and arched porchway to the grand hallway on the ground floor.
Our restored, authentic period livingrooms lead into a second, modern entrance hallway, boasting a WC with Rain-head shower, a private gymnasium room and thence on to the new kitchen.
The sleek, clean lines of the kitchen and sumptuous lighting enhance the enjoyment of the quality fixtures - Rangemaster Cooker by Aga, integrated fridge and freezer with ice-maker, gas fire, HD media projector, Sony wireless sound system.
The spacious courtyard garden is the perfect place to come home to after a day’s sight-seeing. Relax with a glass of wine in the evenings, or have a luxurious soak in the spectacularly and lovingly renovated loft, in our free-standing cast-iron bath retreat (of spa standard).
Our period staircase leads to the mezzanine floor, where the Master bedroom (King) is found. The en-suite boasts beautiful twin basins and a luxurious rain-head shower.
The first floor houses 3 more bedrooms, 2 queen-size and one double/twin.
A further mezzanine level with bijou office leads to loft conversion with bath / shower / WC.

About Peter McDonnell
We have been living in and renovating this adored, period residence since 1995. We have enjoyed vacationing in Cape Ann, Massachusetts for the last nine summers and have been making our precious home available for rental for the last few summers. We have just completed a top-to-bottom renovation of the house, restoring many of the Victorian features such as wooden sash windows. We hope you love our home as much as we do!

Lovely Dublin home with all the amenities you need, a very quick bus ride to the city center.
Enjoyed our tea and wine on the lovely patio. Beautiful, thoughtful, gracious renovation of an old Dublin home. Loads of space, easy parking. Great restaurant nearby ("Anglers Rest") and so quick to downtown. I'd stay here again.
Great house close to bus stops
The house was very clean, comfortable and quite modern. All the comforts of home. Location is great for bus routes to Dublin. Not too long of a ride to city centre. A few nice pubs close to the house. Owner Peter was very quick to respond when ever I had a question. Hope to come back to Ireland in a few years will definately see if this is available.

Wonderful Home for Three Generations of Family Members
My father, brother, niece, nephew, my daughter, and I stayed in this beautiful home in August, 2014. The house had everything we needed and was full of charm. Peter was very easy to work with and very helpful with all of our questions. We loved the proximity to downtown and we enjoyed a lovely walk to the Guinness Storehouse. Much of the walk was through a beautiful park. The beds and common areas were lovely. The only issue we encountered is that the proximity of the toilets to the bedrooms (with the exception of the master bedroom) is not ideal for people who need to get up in the night to visit the restroom. We would stay here again and would recommend it to others.
Delighted you enjoyed the house and the location. Sorry to have missed your arrival all by a few hours, but I'm glad I was able to provide you with your essentials when you arrived. While it's true that not all rooms have ensuite WC, we do have WC facilities on 3 levels of the house, which should satisfy the needs of most families and groups. We hope to renovate in coming years to further improve this situation. Thank you for such kind sentiments.
Very comfortable and enjoyable
From start to finish we had a very good experience renting Peter's property. Our booking, payment, and security refund went without a hitch. The description and pictures were right on. All our questions were answered and needs attended to including a nice welcome package in the kitchen on arrival. We found it easy to get into Dublin using the bus service and the passes left in the kitchen were excellent. It was nice to have a home and not a hotel. I would highly recommend for a couple or family group . There were 7 of us all adults and we had lots of room. Thanks to Peter for all that he did for us. Loved Ireland, a must see for all travellers.
