Great 10 Days - House is amazing

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful 10 days in Ireland last week. It was October we had wind rain and even a hurricane not that it bothered us we were staying in a lovely spacious house with an open fire. There were 4 large double bedrooms, the mattresses, feathered duvets and pillows were very comfy had great sleeps. Spent most days travelling around the area then chilled most nights in the house - the kitchen is huge. The WIFI works great we were able to link Netflix up to TV from laptop which entertained us on the cosy nights in. We dined out 3 nights at keanes, Moran’s and paddy Burke’s - for this we used the local taxi company who were very helpful. The shop/petrol station at end of road is a 15 min walk, along the way you could feed horses. Rindell is a great park 5 mins away in car. Perfect October week.

Very nice!

Lovely reception when we arrived at the house. The house is spacious and well equipped, definitely big enough for 6 people. The amenities were all great. I think that some parts of the house are still in development as there are some cables that are still exposed. It is a beautiful and well appointed house and I think in due course it will be finished completely. Margaret was extremely helpful on our check in and explained everything about the house. The value you get for the weekly rent is fantastic, especially when sharing the house with 6 (or even 4) people. The photos on the websites don't do the house full credit as it is bigger and more impressive than can be taken from the pictures. There are not a lot of tv channels that are available so we were happy to have brought tablets using the Wi-Fi to get online. The kitchen is great and can really be the center of the house during the evenings. Oranmore is close and has a pretty good Tesco and petrol station. Would recommend for groups visiting the area.

Owner's Response: Thanks Thomas for the lovely review, just to let you know those wires are for an alarm system . Some day I may put one in, but the area is very safe so I am not too concerned about it at the moment. Hope you visit again!

Our Dream Irish Country House

  • 5 of 5

We'd had a long drive south after a family wedding in Donegal, but when we turned into the drive way, we knew that the house would be something special - First impressions count, and ours was "tasteful", and we weren't disappointed. In case I don't have time at the end of the review, I cannot express enough how tasteful the whole house is set out and decorated, topping all of our expectations.

For us adults, the highlight downstairs was the "landhaus" style kitchen and dining area, it's exactly what we are looking at having put in at home, and it has all of the necessary appliances, together with a massive American style fridge and wash/dryers in a utility room.

For the kids, the highlight it was natuarlly the TV room with (for our teenies) WiFi.

Upstairs, each of the four double rooms is - just like every other room in the house - individually and tastefully decorated, one of the bedrooms has an ensuite with, what our kids immediately christened the "Star Wars Shower", a total hit !! At the other end of the upper floor, a large separate bathroom contains a bath with jacuzzi (a hit with us oldies). Each of the bathrooms (there is also a shower/toilet downstairs) being provided with a surfeit of hand and bath towels.

One thing I should mention is the House Manager - Margaret - and her husband Fintan, who are exceptionally helpful and are always reachable if you have any questions or problems.

Speaking of which, if we were to have had a problem with the house, it was simply that we couldn't fold it up and take it back to Germany in our suitcase....

That's enough about the house, but it is also perfect locationwise - views back and front are great, and Galway City is only a 15-20 minute drive away. On top of this Oranmore/Maree is within a reasonable distance of many of the tourist attractions of Galway and the West (Ennis, Moher, Athenry etc etc) and is thus a perfect base for touring.

I suppose the best compliment I can give the owners is that within a few hours it had ceased being referred to as "the house" and for the rest of the week was "home" and the question from the kids as they realised that we had to pack the cases and head to the airport: "When are we coming back?"

Well, as long as the house is available, the answer is Summer 2019........

The scenic property is located in the quiet countryside with water views of an open bay in front of the home, and expansive green fields framed by hills behind the house. It is only a 20 minute drive to Galway City where you will find great restaurants, lively pubs, and unique shops, and all types of entertainment. The house is located about a 10 minute drive from Oranmore where you can taste some delicious local food, hear traditional Irish music. Banks and food markets are also located in the village of Oranmore. Clarenbridge is another village located about 10 min away from the house . Here you can find exceptional restaurants featuring exquisite sea food dishes and light shopping. There is also a church, community center (which has a bar for a few social drinks at night), petrol station, and convenience shop within walking distance from the house. Tawin Island's breathtaking views are around the corner. Take a walk or bike into Tawin island and experience a refreshing afternoon of breathtaking views, bird watching, and enjoy the seals floating along the coast. It is a great enriching experience for all to enjoy. Rinville has a golf course, sailing club, an a fantastic park for kids - and this is all located close to the house! If you feel like a drive, take a trip to the cliffs of Moher, Connemara, or the Burren.

Galway city of the Tribes, is the west of Ireland, a great county to bring the family, or a loved one, a group of friends, or to just go by yourself. The city has retained all of its small old town charm and beauty, cultural , and historical heritage . Take a walk through its busy narrow streets and admire its medieval buildings tastefully mingled with modern structures, visit Galway Cathedral, the Spanish Arch, Lynch's Castle, the Salmon Weir bridge, or wander through the cobbled streets of the Quays area and the Claddagh, enjoy shopping , or just stop for a coffee or a drink in the many , restaurants , bars and coffee shops. Galway has some of the best gourmet products in the country . Galway now has an annual food festival which provides demostrations, and a wide variety of gourmet food. Try and plan your visit around one of the many festivals in the city – Arts week, Galway races( ladies day is a must, but wear your Sunday best) , Salthill Airshow, the volvo ocean race or the Oyster festival.

Travel west into Connemara an unspoilt bog land , and still fresh lakes.Travel to the Twelve Bens. Visit Clifden, the Connemara Capital. From Clifden you can drive north to visit Kylemore Abbey and Connemara National Park or South to visit Ballyconneelly, Roundstone and continue east to Ballinahinch Castle.

A few miles south of Galway, visit the Burren area. Start your tour in the beautiful seaside town of Kinvara with a visit to Dunguaire Castle and continue your drive through the Burren. The Burren is a limestone plateau which has been inhabited since the Stone Age. The Burren has unique flora and you may see some wild goats during your visit. Take a nice drive to the Cliffs of Moher, Aillwee Caves, these are great activites for kids . Other areas to visit , the Aran islands take the boat from Rossaveal. The Aran islands is great if you love bike riding, you can see most of the island by bike I would defiantly recommended it . For additional on most of these activities visit
