About the Property
Villa, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)
The cabana is a private and secluded bedroom, just steps from the main house. It's completely screened with a new bed and a spectacular view. The 2nd bedroom is spacious and cool, located on the 2nd story of the main house. The ground floor is a large room with high ceilings, comfortable new futon couch, table, desk, kitchen. Internet/wifi.
An eco bathhouse is easily accessible from the cabana and main house. An eco toilet is a dry odorless toilet using sawdust. The waste material is recycled in our garden, after curing in s separate compartment . Many eco resorts in this area use this water conserving waste disposal system. Water conservation is VERY important on this coast. The shower is in the same building. There is no 'hot water" only tepid.
Dogs are welcome accompanied by responsible owners!
The house is tucked into the hill side with various levels which makes it a challenge to photograph. Ask us to send you more photos. Coming soon a video tour on U-tube. Ask us about our special offers.
Go to sleep and wake up to the sights and sounds of the Pacific Ocean. Watch swooping birds, breaching whales and dolphins from the front veranda. Curl up with a great book or take a siesta in one of five comfy hammocks in different locations. Sip a cold drink of your choice and watch the sunset over the mountain across the bay and the mother of pearl after glo of twilight on the waves.
A note about US and Canada government travel warnings for Mexico. Unfortunately most of these warnings are not area specific. The State of Oaxaca, Puebla and Chiapas are not part of many warnings. This community of Puerto Angel is quiet, and very very secure. I have never had a problem in 20 years.

The house icon is incorrect! But tell that to google map. The house icon is in the town of Puerto Angel sort of. The villa is outside the town in Colonia Punta Banada perched on a cliff over looking the ocean. Hidden in the garden, totally private with splendid views of the ocean 20 meters below....MoreCollapse
I have never seen it spelled that way but google knows best. Pronounced ESKAKAWEETEH. Small sheltered little beach. Great snorkling. Two excellent fish restaurants. Simple classic delicious. I always go to the first of the two and have the whole fried fish but they have other styles of fish and sometimes shrimp. Beer and soft drinks too. The other restaurant is also great. Good swimming. Never a lot of people. Ten minutes walk from the villa...MoreCollapse
Shopes and restaurant and bars and discos. Lots of artesanos selling interesting stuff. Zipolete has move on a little from it infamous hippy era. It's still a nude beach for some. Very eclectic vibe. A little of everything and three quite excellent restaurants. As well as lots of cheap and cheerful places. It's kind of the happening beach for night life. The actual playa can be quite dangerous for swimming due to currents and undertow but it's flagged and their are now life guards. Know as the Gay friendly beach in some circles. The best Sunsets.. ie sun sinking into the sea and the bar Baracuda serves the best margaritas on the coast. after 9PM A 8 minute cab ride from Puerto Angel or collectivo a little longer....MoreCollapse
Car: Not Necessary
The house is 20 minutes to Mazunte and the Turtle museum as well as various beaches where the sea turtles lay eggs. Excellent whale watching excursions. Swim with the dolphins. Snorkllng. The Sierra's are only 2 hours away. Hiking and exploring. Many varieties of rare birds. Two beautiful rivers nearby for fresh water swimming and hiking.

About the owner: I am a writer. I bought this land 19 years ago. A totally impulsive act that changed my life. Probably the best thing I have ever done for myself. I planted fruit trees and flowers and cactus every time I returned. I built the house very slowly. It's adobe and palm construction. I built what I needed to read and write and be in nature. It is not a luxury condo. It is a peaceful restorative spot with sea breezes and stairs down to the rocky coast below. My companion in the photo is Pancho, a Xolosquincle. He goes with me when I travel.
Why the Owner Chose Puerto Ángel, Oaxaca, Mexico:
I am Canadian. Winter delights have lost their charm. I came one horrible gray February to finish a project . It was love at first by the following Sept I owned this land. Relatively speaking the coast of Oaxaca from Huatulco to Pto Escondido still has abundant birds and wildlife . The pace is deliciously slow. An international airport in Huatulco Oaxaca is 45 minutes away. Excellent bus service from Oaxaca City and Mexico City.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Daily Yoga classes are just ten minutes away in various locations. Alternative medicine practitioners abound. Spectacular snorkeling, whale watching excursions, friendly helpful people. Laid back funky fishing town where fresh seafood is easy to get and inexpensive. Oaxaca is famous for it's cuisine. There are some great restaurants. My favorite ritual is walking one of the spectacular beaches at Sunset with Pancho or driving 20 minute to a secret River, walking and swimming in the pools all the way to Candaleria.
