Adam purchased this Farmhouse in 2005
Why Adam chose Rawsonville
This house was originally built in 1940 for Henry Diers who owned all of the surrounding lands. Many renovations later, it was a famous ski house for the Stratton, called "The Chicken Ranch House" and is still fondly in the memories of skiers from Stratton's early days. After purchasing the property in 2005, I did a complete renovation of the entire property (only two rooms in the structure have their original geometry), opening up the kitchen to the greenroom, installing giant beams in the ceiling, opening the space to the vaulted roof pitch, continuing the fireplace stone all the way up with stone harvested on site, artistic details from local artisans (stain glass windows, stone farmers sink and Vermont green slate counters, hand wrought fire screen, etc.), adding additional bathrooms, screened porch, outdoor patio looking out to the preexisting apple orchard (20 apple trees of various types), stone surround fire pit at top of hill, and outdoor lighting for terrain park to just give you a sampling of the initial upgrades.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
With only an 8 minute drive to Stratton's base lodge and walking distance to the Rawsonville Roost, with it's restaurants, craft beer shop, coffee shop, marketplace, this house is truly a gem and a pleasure to call your winter getaway.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
We love this house!!
Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) rented Adam's for two ski seasons. We loved our time there! While the house is old and quirky, it is warm and homey, and clean. Adam is close by to handle any surprises, if any, in a timely manner. Adam is a great guy, whom we enjoyed spending time with :) We all have the fondest memories of our time spent here. We miss our days there since moving to CA.

Ski: Being a supervisor at Stratton has its perks.
Did you know that there are trails not on the trail map? It's true, new trails and glades are cut every summer by Stratton employees and local friends. Some are posted to the map, others are known only to people on the inside track.
Also, it can be hard to get your kids in ski or snowboard school when the classes are all booked up. I am one of the few who make the final decisions to add more kids right before the groups go out.
Ever get Terrain Park Fever? The lifts are closed and you (or your kids) are still pumped up to hit the terrain parks for many more hours. Now you can come home to a private, after-hours terrain park with lighting for when the sun goes down!
