About Debbie Nelson

I am retired and hope to some day enjoy this home full time. I love golfing, fishing, snowmobiling, and reading. My Golden Retriever would like to spend all of his time here. He can swim in the river or run to his hearts content. To us it is paradise.

Debbie Nelson purchased this house in 2008

Why Debbie Nelson chose Central Oregon

The area was chosen for the access and view of the river as well as the seclusion and quiet. My passion for fishing was however the biggest draw. The numerous lakes in the area make fishing a year round possibility. Mt Bachelor is just an hour drive away for some fantastic snow skiing.

What makes this house unique

If you enjoy a quiet and relaxing vacation, this is the place for you. A morning walk to Wickiup reservoir is a great way to start your day. It is just 3 miles round trip. Another option is to grab a cup of coffee and your favorite fishing rod and head to the dock. If fishing is not your thing, a good book with that cup of coffee works as well.

Relaxing & Comfort for a Family Gathering!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed grandparent time with our three young grandchildren, their parents and our other children this past week. They all live in Portland but wanted to have a forested weekend near Bend. The accommodations were plush, comfortable and well-stocked with everything one can imagine - not once did I hear someone remark, "I have to go into town ... for something." The lodge-style cabin was set on the river with views of snaking Deschutes River with abundant wildlife to keep all entertained. Some took day trips to enjoy premier mountain-biking trails as well as close-by lake resort amenities. It was truly a memorable family gathering and a time we could focus on grandchildren. The completely fenced deck with see-through style was a secure feature for us. All families spent time in the Jacuzzi and teaching young ones to fish! We loved it! Thanks Debbie in making Deschutes River lodge -an accommodating, comfortable experience. One suggestion I may add, Debbie, is is to provide directions form Hwy 97 both North & South directions as well as from Sunriver/Bend in addition to the ones provided from Hwy58. Thanks for a memorable time!

Relaxing Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had family visiting from out of state and this was the perfect vacation spot for us. When looking for a home we had a lot of requirements, because our group ranged in age from 18 months to 90 years of age and this location hit them all! The amazing deck overlooking the river was fantastic, yet practical for us. It allowed our toddler and chihuahua mix dog to have fun exploring and enjoying the sun without fear from the proximity to the river and predatory birds. The wildlife was incredible. Every morning and evening deer were in the yard eating and eagles were nesting right across the river. We took day trips to Bend, Crater Lake and the MacKenzie Loop and the home is a nice central location. All in all, very impressed with the home and the responsiveness of the owner. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Perfect for what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent five days at the Deschutes River Lodge to celebrate my father's birthday and Father's Day. The home was perfect and just what we were looking for. We went on daily raft drifts from the Wickiup Dam down to the property while trolling a fishing pole. We spent most days out boating or fishing any of the local lakes. We went on some hikes that were within a 20 min drive as well. Most importantly what my family was looking was a place to get away and relax. This home definitely fit the bill. The home is stocked with many things to do just around the home for everybody to enjoy. We really enjoyed the "Apples to Apples" game along with the dart board. We definitely highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful home to stay in while in the La Pine area.

P.S. Debbie was also very great to work with. She was very responsive and accommodating.

Quiet and Secluded River Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Very relaxing and memorable time for my family in this secluded and quiet picturesque river home. The property met all of our expectations for a family time on the river. The house was very comfortable, very well appointed, meeting our needs and expectations and beyond. The quiet of the night, the wind song of the pines, and the millions of stars in the night sky renewed each of us. The floor space and the safe porch made it exceptional for a couple of toddlers in our family. We enjoyed the Deschutes River Paradise!

Perfect for peaceful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home inside and out! Feels cozy and spacious at the same time. Great layout for a large group. Some can play darts while others play on the Wii, while others are fishing off the dock, while others are getting a campfire ready in the large pit stocked with ample firewood, while others relax on the comfortable deck chairs with a book, while others catch frogs, feed chipmunks and spot deer across the meandering river or in the front yard. Kitchen & laundry room are roomy with lots of storage. Beds are very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!
