About the property

3+ Bedrooms, 2 Full Baths, Sleeps up to 8

Light and airy contemporary home welcomes you. This house is nestled among lush gardens and protected forest borders on a quiet dead-end street. Yet, it is only a 5 minute drive to the City Center, Pearl and NW Alphabet District, Zoo, Washington Park and Forest Park. From here, you also have easy access to the Nike Campus, St. Vincent Hospital and the western Metro area.

Another bonus, the house is now outfitted with all Tempur Pedic Supreme medium firm mattresses.

The house is filled with art, reflecting our international travel interest, and is full of visual treats for everyone.

I built this house 25+ years ago. It was designed by an architect who favors the Northwest Style of light, airy, open to nature, but compact and simple in its execution. It is a joy to be in this space.

Beautiful park like setting, quiet and peaceful. Amazingly close to downtown and the favorite places in the Portland area. We constantly receive nice feedback about the ambiance and cleanliness.

NOTE RE: FIREPLACE. The fireplace is available for use. I prefer using the packaged logs and will provide one for your stay. The Birch is only decorative. Please make sure the flu is open and burn only 1 log at a time.

NOTE RE: BEDROOMS and BATHROOMS: All the bedrooms nad bathrooms are on the lower level requiring steps (14).

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Very much enjoyed the amenities, furnishings, and tasteful decor in your house nestled in the hills outside Portland. Our 30th wedding anniversary was very well served by a week in the tranquil atmosphere the house embodied. Set between Beaverton and Portland, the house is the perfect location for peace and quiet in the midst of everything Portland has to offer. We shared the house with one other couple for one weekend, and it had plenty of space for us all to spread out. We enjoyed the open floorplan, which made preparing meals a fun group event. Hot water, mood lighting, and lots of windows--would love to have a house like this for ourselves. Literally 10 minutes to downtown Portland (outside rush hour admittedly) and 5 minutes to the Hoyt Arboretum and Oregon Zoo. Close to Max light rail and all the shopping and restaurants of Beaverton. Ideal location. Again, thanks for letting us share your house. Mark and Elizabeth - Williamsburg Virginia"

Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable.

Children are very welcome, however, I want to stress that the house is not childproof. There is a high deck off the livingroom which could be quite dangerous if not used properly. I used to watch my kids like a hawk on it when they were little, and I would ask that you do the same.

Lovely and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at this lovely and comfortable home. There is ample room in the kitchen/dining area and living room for our family to enjoy each other's company. The kitchen is well stocked with pans etc. for cooking. There is a nice deck which in clear weather is just right for relaxing. The neighborhood is quiet, and convenient for getting to restaurants in the Beaverton area (highly recommend the gastro pub The Wine and Growl which is less than 10 minutes away), the Beaverton Saturday morning Farmer's market in downtown Beaverton, New Season's grocery which is a great place to shop, as well as all that Portland has to offer (Powell's Books, the food trucks, restaurants and coffee places, the Rose Garden), and also the Ponzi Winery which is about 30 minutes outside of Beaverton...beautiful tasting room with lovely views of the vineyard and excellent wines!

Beautiful setting, comfortable home, convenient location

  • 5 of 5

The house had everything we needed. It is a lovely home in a forest setting & it is an easy drive to Portland. Fred Meyer & Trader Joe’s are close by. (What else do uou need?) We met up with family members from out of the country, visited familiar sights & discovered new ones. Don’t miss the Japanese garden in Washinton Park.

Quiet, Cozy, Comfortable, and a Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Loved the house. Excellent Location. Beautiful park like setting. Very quiet. My wife and 3 children stayed here for 8 days. The house is an excellent launch point to tour the Portland area. We had one of our best vacations ever. The house is near everything though it is nice and tucked away on a private drive. Easy to get to downtown Portland or anywhere in Beaverton. The house had everything we needed. The landscape is well kept and looks great. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because I had to kill a very large spider 1 night. We are from Southern California and I guess the spiders don't get as big in So Cal as they do in Northern Oregon. It was just a common harmless lycosa wolf spiders, but my wife is terrified of spiders so....., let's just say she was a little on edge for a couple nights after that. Otherwise no complaints. We loved it and had a great time and the house is a great place to relax after wearing yourself-out hiking the waterfalls, or whitewater river rafting, or just eating too much good food in Portland.
