A charming well appointed house in a beautiful location. The house has a large fenced backyard with BBQ, fire pit, and seating. In the back, you can walk up a sand berm to a breathtaking view of the water. There are plenty of beach accessories provided: beach chairs, boogie boards, children's sand toys. The location is a brief walk to the beach or a 2 minute drive to the public beach, pool, golf, tennis, and restaurant.

I found the place by accident escaping hurricane Irma, but Pat (the owner) could not have been kinder or more accommodating. Our pets were at home and relaxed at the house. They also enjoyed the dog friendly beach. It was all a wonderful surprise.

I plan on coming back for a family reunion next year.

The property is excellent!

The island is mediocre at best. Paying for beach access and parking is one way to keep tourist down to a minimum.

Great location, no crowded beaches, equipped kitchen, fair price

  • 5 of 5

This house was a great fit for our family of 7, 2 adults and 5 boys (ages 10,8,5,5,4) we stayed in July where it stormed almost every night and early morning but was great sunny hot all day. House has great access to bay where we spent hours swimming, you can walk way far out into the more shallow calm water. We also caught fish and crabs to cook for dinner! Public beaches were not crowded at All! Public beach by school has a long walk to get to the water, no shells on beach, great showers and price. Public beach at west end is a shorter walk, more shells, bigger waves, food truck, umbrella rentals and really nice bathroom. Both, pay once, get all day access come and go. House is well equipped with beach toys, chairs, and wave boards. Things you do need to grab for your stay that are not provided... toilet paper, dish washer soap, trash bags, paper products, salt and pepper, laundry soap. House had plenty of towels! But you have to bring your own beach towels. The walk to the bay is fun over the sand dunes, but be cautious of the sand spurs. They are painful, flip flops or shoes are a must. Outside shower was very apprecited after comimg back from the bay. A.C. works great in house and Florida room! House had its rough spots, cosmetic, but overall was the perfect place for a large family to get away and make memories together! The owner was super responsive, quickly answering any questions we had by text. Places to see, Fort Gaines, Ride the ferry, USS Alabama, National Air museum (FREE), places to eat, JTs Sunset Grill on the dock, Rainbow ice cream and snow cones.

Owner's Response: Thank you for this great review. It covers about everything. I do put in my check in instructions to bring additional paper products and soaps, so that renters can come prepared, since I know that everyone is coming a great distance to the island. We try to make your vacation as pleasant as possible.

Wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay!! House was awesome, well stocked, even had extra beach chairs. Even though it was warm outside, we built a fire in fire pit every night. It was a very relaxing stay! Will book again!!
