It has a magnificent view of the lake stretching from the Mountains, (Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngaruahoe) to the Township of Taupo.

This sunny, three bedroom beautifully decorated house is down a right of way leading to a large private garden on two levels.

The master bedroom with queen bed, walk in wardrobe, computer desk and ensuite have large doors opening out to the garden and lake view.

The second bedroom has a queen bed, lake and garden view, a relaxing window seat, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

The third bedroom has two twin beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

The holiday home is fully furnished with a kitchen well set up with all you will need. Basics are supplied in the way of sugar, flour, tea, coffee, herbs and spices.

This warm and sunny house is open plan living with double glazing, a large, flued, Rinnai Gas Heater in the sitting room, and electric heating in all other rooms.

There are lovely sitting out door areas both front and back of the house providing sheltered outdoor living at all times. Barbecue provided.

The garden is well landscaped on two levels, with a very large lower level providing great space for games and added relaxation.

Within a few minutes walking to the lake at the bottom of the street, and excellent walking, biking, running facilities right beside the lake, with 'The Lions Walk' to the left, around the various picturesque bays, and all the way to the township to the right, where you can stop at the coffee cart or gelato cart en route!

It is a five minute drive to the very active township of Taupo with its multiple cafes, bars, restaurants and shops.

The Botanical Gardens are within easy walking up the top of the road, and Debretts outdoor Thermal Hot Pools are a few minutes drive away.

Taupo

Taupo has amazing activities on offer to enjoy and is the adventure capital of New Zealand.

Jet boat rides on the Waikato River right up to the magnificent Huka Falls Rapids, Paragliding, Sky Diving, Bungee Jumping, World famous Trout Fishing, Mountain Biking and unique Thermal Hot Pools.

It is a golfing mecca with four first class 18 hole golf courses, two of them being of international standard.

Taupo is a great lake for water-skiing, sailing and plenty of boat charters and cruises where the 'Maori Rock Carvings' can only be seen from the water, and one is promised a fresh trout for lunch or dinner!

Great Lake Taupo is centrally located in the middle of the North Island approximately three and a half hours drive from Auckland, and four and a half hours from Wellington.

It is a convenient base to exploring Tongariro National Park (11/2 hours) where there are two ski fields and the well-known Tongariro Crossing with its spectacular topography, stunning blue and green lakes and outstanding views.

Lake Taupo is also the setting for two famous sporting events: The Around Lake Taupo Cycling Event in November, and The Iron Man in March.

In addition, Taupo region offers, day trips to Rotorua, (1 hour), Tongariro National Park, (1 1/2 hours), Napier (11/2 hours), Waitomo Caves (1 1/2 hours) and Canoeing down the Whanganui River. (1 1/2 hours)

The Lake, from Tourism New Zealand.........

The beautiful Lake Taupo was created nearly two thousand years ago by a volcanic eruption which darkened the skies of Europe and China.

Visit the Craters of the Moon and you will see evidence of the Lake's fiery birth in geysers, steaming craters and boiling mud pools.

At some of Lake Taupo's beaches, swimmers and paddlers can enjoy warm geothermal water currents.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the whole property. We have a lock box with the front door key inside. Your code will be supplied to you when you book.

Guests enjoy free use of Wireless Internet.

Interaction with Guests

I have a very friendly approach to all enquiries and promptly answer all email enquiries and all follow up questions. Unfortunately, on most occasions, I will not be there to greet you as I live in Wellington.

I will provide you with the code for the lock box once the booking has been confirmed.

There will be very clear house instructions on the dining room table.

My sister lives in Taupo close by and her numbers are provided in the instruction sheet. I will be available by mobile (Phone Number Hidden) if you need me.

Please note that this is a quiet, safe neighbourhood and consideration for our neighbours is important.

Neighbourhood

We are a few minutes from the lake which has beautiful walks in both directions right beside the lake; around The Bays and into the Township.

Local shopping centre a couple of minutes away at Richmond Heights with good 4 Square Grocery Shop, liquor store, & great fish and chips

The airport is 2 K from our house.

Why Heather Mackintosh chose Waipahihi

My parents first holidayed at Lake Taupo in the 1970s. We continued the tradition with our own children and grandchildren. Our children became addicted to water skiing, boating, fishing, tramping and snow skiing.

What makes this house unique

The unique thing about this house, apart from the thermal hot mineral pool, is the magnificent view of the lake and mountains, and the two outdoor seating areas providing comfort in all weather.

There is a large, beautiful garden on the lower level which is great for kids games, or just to sit in tranquility and listen to the birds.

Great location and view with very clean , modern facilities

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Hot Pool Hideaway for two weeks, using it as our base for the 2018 Ironman. The location is very close to the lake and the Ironman run course, and is only a few minutes by car from the town centre. Everything was very much as advertised and we enjoyed our stay very much. The hot pool was a great bonus compared to other options and we liked that there are three different dining areas: outside facing the lake, inside and outside under cover. So whatever the weather and temperature, all the bases were covered .Lastly ,we appreciated that the house was well-equipped with all the basics (kitchen rolls, coffee, tea etc) when we arrived, so we didn't have to immediately go out and buy them.

Owner's Response: Hi Graham, Thank you very much for your thorough and practical review of our home. I especially liked the way you talk about the three separate eating areas and how well that works. Great to hear that you found the location so good, as from the map, some tenants believe that we are not as close to town as we are.

Gorgeous retreat!!

  • 5 of 5

Hot pool hideaway blew us all away with it's beauty, serenity, and stunning views of Lake Taupo. We immediately felt at home and ready to relax. We were traveling with dear friends, and there is plenty of space for everyone to have some privacy and downtime, or socialize with the group in common areas. The home is beautifully decorated, and one of our favorite features were little reading nooks in the windows where we could stretch out and enjoy a good book for a while. We loved sitting under the trellis on the deck -- and loved looking at the wonderful gardens on the property.

One of us used the Hot Pool in the house and was transported away into spa bliss....

We ended up spending an additional night at the property because we were so relaxed and did not want to leave.

Thank you, Heather, for having us at your beautiful home!

Owner's Response: I wanted to thank you for your wonderful review. I really appreciate your thoughtful comments and how beautifully you related to our home. It is music to the ears, as we put so much time and energy in to creating areas where people can find time to be alone and peaceful when they feel like it. Our family know the advantage in getting to the window seats first for quiet reading time in the sun! I am so pleased the weather was kind, and that you got to enjoy the terrace as well. Please come again one day Shelly.

A beautiful property with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully designed house with attention paid to every detail. Very comfortable with wonderful indoor outdoor flow on to a lovely patio and garden in the front and a sunny courtyard for breakfast in the back.

The views of the lake and mountains are amazing and the large lower garden beautifully landscaped and maintained.

The little hot pool is gorgeous at night before you go to bed, a real treat.

A superb property all round.

Perfect Home with beautiful views in quiet neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

This was absolutely the best rental experience we've ever had. Home is tasteful and functional and the views are extraordinary. The glass sliders really allow you to take advantage of those views. This was the perfect home base for exploring the Northern Island of New Zealand. The town of Taupo is very convenient and the Huka Falls must be on your list of things worth seeing. We were there for 2 weeks and totally enjoyed ourselves.

Owner's Response: Hello Judy and Ed, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It is just lovely when tenants enjoy the property as much as we do. I enjoyed all communication with you and thank you again for being so considerate, especially leaving the house in such good condition and attending to the various requests on the departure list. It does make such a difference. Best regards, Heather

Great accommodation in a good location

  • 5 of 5

The house is very well equipped, with everything you would need for your stay.

Superb views across Lake Taupo, and very convenient for the town.

If we are lucky enough to return to Taupo in the future, we would certainly consider staying here again.

A perfection of a house!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this house for a month. It had just been redone inside and was very tastefully done. It had everything you could possibly need and if there were any questions, the owner was always available. They left a very detailed information package with suggestions for restaurants, activities etc. The house is in a great location just outside of downtown and in a quiet neighborhood. There is ample space for parking your car. I can't say enough good things about this place. I would highly recommend this house for anyone travelling to this area. We were very sad to leave.
