Cozy lake cottage

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was a weekend getaway for us and this home was a great place to come back to and relax after exploring the area during the day. We loved how we could hear the waves as we sat inside and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake even from the bed in the loft. For being late October, the weather was pretty good; but, it would be nice to come back in the summer and be able to enjoy more of the outdoor amenities as well (fire pit, boat, deck).

The cottage is in a great location. We made our way around Seneca Lake and enjoyed going to wineries, a cheese barn, and Watkins Glen. We also liked how close the cottage is to Geneva (groceries, restaurants, church).

Positive AND Negatives

  • 3 of 5

POSITIVES:

- RIGHT ON THE LAKE which is amazing

- Fun paddle boat to ride on

-Close to many wineries

-Close to Geneva

-Tons of blankets and towels

- Great WIFI

- Has essentials like salt, pepper, pots, pans, classes...etc.

- Many candles :)

NEGATIVES:

-Water heater issue. I was only in the shower for roughly 2-3 minutes before the water went FREEZING and I had to hop out... I'm not really sure if this is an everyday thing when it comes to tiny homes but man was it really hard to shower in cold water.

- Heat- either we were freezing cold from lack of heat or too hot..

- Cups, pots, pans seemed to still be dirty from previous customers who must of "washed" their things and then put them away.

Overall, I did enjoy the fact that the house was right on the lake because that was just gorgeous to wake up to. I also did enjoy the total experience of the tiny home but perhaps it's just not for me if it means possibly showering in cold water.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your positive and negative reviews of the cottage. The best part of it is the fact that you really are right on the water. That is what drew us to the place to begin with. And I do try to keep all the essentials there that someone might need. It's hard to remember all the little things to pack when travelling. As for the water heater, I've had one complaint about it in all the years we've owned it. There were four people staying there trying to shower one after the other and not allowing the water to heat back up. I also wonder if you realize the hot water tap was on the right and the cold is on the left? For some reason whoever put the plumbing in put them in opposite to what is normal in both the shower and the bathroom sink. I do label the sink but perhaps I need to label the shower handles as well. I sometimes forget and make the same mistake. As for the heat, we have a gas heater that heats the place up beautifully and a ceiling fan that can blow it down when it rises to the top. We also have an electric fireplace and space heater in the bathroom. One thing that has always been positive on our reviews is how well insulated the cottage is and nice and toasty in the colder months so I'm not quite sure what happened. I have my phone numbers of the fridge and always encourage renters to call me at any time if there is a problem so I am very sorry you didn't call about these things. I would have been very happy to have helped you with it. My hope is always that everyone enjoy it there as much as my family and I do. Judy

Perfect little cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed with our entire stay. The only times you feel too big for it is when you shower in the half shower, and sleeping upstairs but it is TINY LIVING. The cottage is utterly cozy and the heater works wonders. Judy provides many small items that can cover anything you've might've forgot.

There is train tracks behind the cottage, in 4 days we only noticed 2 trains. They were quiet as trains go and quick to pass.

I highly recommend this rental.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful time in the cute little cottage! We had everything we needed for a stress-free few days! The weather was spectacular, and we decided to use the pedal boat that was there for our use! Since our stay was during the week, we practically had the whole lake to ourselves! We enjoyed fishing from that fun little boat and just took in the beautiful lake! We saw some amazing sun rises while there! The location can't be beat! Judy was the best! Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!

Beautiful lakefront tiny house :)

  • 5 of 5

This place was just what we needed! We loved relaxing by the fire pit listening to the sounds of the lakes and nature. The house was in a great location and we were central to all of the wineries and restaurants we wanted to go to. The cottage provided us with exactly what we needed - comfortable little getaway! Judy was very easy to work with and the cottage was kept clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend away!
