Located on thirty acres of privately owned land shared with a family house and immediately adjacent to 300 plus acres of the newly created Great Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, this charming cottage fronts directly on Buzzard's Bay. The ocean waters here are warm and provide wonderful swimming opportunities for all.
The cottage and a large sloping lawn in front are situated on a bluff featuring spectacular views looking south across the expanse of the Bay toward the Elizabeth Islands. To the east is the entrance to the Cape Cod Canal with its interesting array of ship traffic while to the west, beautiful summer sunsets appear over Marion. The property includes its own private beach protected by a breakwater that is home to a variety of fish just waiting to be caught.
For those who enjoy walking/biking, there is ample opportunity on the well-marked paths of the Wildlife Sanctuary and local back roads. A public golf course is located within a short distance from the property and there are numerous restaurants, shopping opportunities and other recreational facilities close by. Baseball enthusiasts can take in Wareham Gatemen games of the Cape Cod League, seeing young talent as they progress to the major leagues. For history buffs, the famous whaling city of New Bedford and Plimouth Plantation are each approximately twenty minutes away.

The cottage was perfectly equipped and very comfortable but the environment is what makes this property amazing. Sweeping lawn down to the water's edge and though on bayside many nights fell asleep to the sound of waves. Long walks through the pine wood trials (with lots of bug spray!) also made this vacation memorable. The owners were exceptionally fair and kind. The caretakers, Harriet and MaryJane made us feel like family.
What's not to like? We had a wonderful week even with lousy weather sometimes. Cloudy days, threats of rain? Sure beats going to work! We adapted and overcame the poor weather during our week. Quiet, quiet, oh what a lovely sound. I could imagine living there....ahhh. The housekeepers that take care of the main house next door were an absolute joy, Harriet and Mary Ann were more than anxious to tell us about the historic home next door and we felt we should have shared contact info when we left. Thanks Harriet! :( We also met the landlord./co owners, lovely people. If you appreciate privacy, this is the place to go. Stores, restaurants are all a short drive away. Cape Cod, next door. The pics for this rental are not as good as they could be, we were pleasantly surprised. Note to owner, need better photos of cottage, lovely place. P.S. our goldendoodle dog thought it was wonderful.
