Located a few miles from South Congress, South Lamar, and downtown, this spacious South Austin home is designed for entertaining visitors of all ages as well as their beloved four-legged friends. The property is located near the South Austin intersection of William Cannon and Manchaca which is a short drive away from downtown along with many uniquely Austin restaurants, food trailers, shops, parks, and more. It allows visitors to experience Austin's creative and 'weird' landscape while maintaining a feeling of coziness that makes everyone feel welcome.
The one story home has 3 bedrooms including a comfy king bed in the master and a queen bed in both spare rooms. There are 2 full baths and double vanities in the master. The master suite is recently renovated providing a modern and tranquil escape that wouldn't be complete without a bubble bath in the new large soaking tub. The kitchen is fully furnished and great for amateur or wannabe chefs who want to save a few dollars and make meals at home. Most importantly the large back yard provides a private oasis perfect for a cup of joe on the patio, reading a book in the hammock, playing a game of horse shoes, or enjoying time with family and pets. Whether you're coming to Austin for a long weekend or for work, you'll find everything you need to feel right at home!
We are a young and energetic couple with big dreams to make an impact in the world. We are originally from the Dallas area but moved back to our old college stomping grounds a few years after graduating from UT and TX State. We take great pride in our first home and hope all who visit find it cozy, clean, and fun!!!
Chelsea Fribourg purchased this house in 2008
Austin is the kind of place that grabs your heart and soul and never lets go. It's where we first met in college and fell in love with all the outdoor activities, live music, good food, beautiful art, and friendly/talented/open-minded people. We knew this was the place we wanted to call home and hopefully raise a family one day and now we are expecting our first little one in January 2017!
Take one step out the back door and you'll quickly see why this property stole our hearts. As outdoor and pet lovers we saw an oasis in the back yard filled with lots of trees and space, including a hammock and horseshoe pit. Sit on the patio and enjoy a cup of joe while you watch the big Texas sky turn colors morning and night. Keep a watchful eye for doves, blue jays, cardinals, and playful squirrels in the morning and listen closely for owls that sometimes visit under the starry night sky. The back yard is our favorite 'room' in the house and provides a peaceful place for relaxing or fun including horse shoes, hula hoops, frisbees, croquet, and catch (all game equipment included in the garage).
We also love the open layout of the living and kitchen areas that allow us to talk and laugh with friends without anyone feeling secluded or left out. All the natural light that comes in from the back yard windows leaves us with a feeling of warmth and happiness.
We stayed here as part of a family reunion over the holidays. It was such a comfortable, nice space to spend together. The kids loved the backyard, TV options, and games available. And the adults appreciated the well-stocked kitchen and comfortable beds! Chelsea made everything super easy and was very responsive throughout the whole process. We would definitely stay here again!
I reserved this home for my parents and sisters for my niece's graduation. We were so pleased with the fully stocked kitchen which we utilized when making a family dinner. There are TWO fridges. The beds were super comfy. The soft couches were great for watching TV and lounging around. We didn't get to enjoy the beautiful back yard due to the rain but it was a nice view out the window. We could not have been more pleased with our stay. One of the few drawbacks was the tall height of the front steps since we had a wheelchair to maneuver. We were able to enter through the garage. The master bath also has a deep soaking tub which looked beautiful but again was not accessible for my disabled dad. The front bathtub was low enough to enter. These really aren't criticisms, but just a comment that the property isn't as accessible as it could be. We loved the house and would stay again. Chelsea and Jay made it so easy to check in with the keyless entry. The 12 noon checkout time was a big plus. Thanks again for your gracious hospitality!
Our Mother's family has a traditional reunion every Thanksgiving in Austin. In year's past my immediate family has reserved 3 hotel rooms, at various hotels along I-35 S. This year, our Mother turned 92 and wanted to make the trip. We felt having a 'Home Away' would be a better setting for her and all of our family. We found a perfect home (#3522481) in South Austin for 6 adults and two small children. We had just as much fun staying at the house as we did at the reunion! Chelsea and Jay were very helpful with information before and during our stay. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed. I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a quiet neighborhood and a comfortable home in south Austin.
Loved our stay and would highly recommend it for anyone!
We loved staying at Chelsea's home in south Austin. The house is very comfortable and clean and easily accessible to major roads to get around Austin. We loved the large back yard and it proved to be a great spot to entertain friends and catch up. We found a grocery store nearby, as well as coffee shops and restaurants. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to share some great meals at home too. Beds were comfortable as well. All around a great place to stay, and a great trip to Austin!
Chelsea was a great host with fast, clear, and friendly communication. Highly recommended.
Good location south of Austin. Every thing with in easy reach using mopac. Great house and yard.
What's not to love about Austin?!?! The music is abundant, the food is delicious, the scenery is beautiful, the art is unique, and most of all the people are welcoming! Known as the live music capital of the world, you can find events like SXSW (March) and ACL (October) only 15 minutes away. Don't waste your time on chain stores or restaurants... there are many uniquely Austin shops, eats, and treats right at your fingertips.
