Through the custom mahogany and stained glass double entry doors, lies the living area with its 33 foot high ceiling and wall of glass, overlooking the magnificent view of the valley below extending to the nearby beaches. Modern furnishings throughout the living area reflect space and light as the forefront of its design. Original art enhances the hand troweled plaster walls. The sunken living room offers ambiance and conversation. The travertine tiled dining area is open plan.

The kitchen is equipped with black galaxy granite counters, double stainless sinks, a deep fryer, convection oven, trash compactor, microwave and a stainless extractor over the range. All of the kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, as well as the curved staircase handrail, are custom made of Honduran mahogany with Peruvian walnut inlay.

Off of the kitchen, is the laundry room with washer/dryer and pantry. The stained glass back door leads to an outdoor deck, overlooking rolling hills dotted with oak trees and a tree topped view to the sea. The park sized outdoor play area is found down the steps under the oaks, but viewed from the house so as to be able to easily monitor the children.

On the ground floor is a large master bedroom with cedar walk in closet and en suite, finished in Turkish travertine tile and Indian rainforest marble with a sunken double tub with jets. A separate office and powder bath is also located on this floor. On the upper floor there are two double bedrooms and a full bathroom. The landing lounge is comfortably spacious with a stunning horizon view of the ocean to the west.

About Michael Laprade

Michael and Janice live in California and spend the winter there in their primary residence on the Central Coast. Since retiring, they live at their private island home, Honey Bee Island, in Canada’s 1,000 Islands during the summer months and then fly to their home on the Riviera in France in the spring. They love to travel!

Janice was a dental hygienist while Michael’s vocation was to spend 30 years in prison…eh, in administration. Their avocation was to develop and perform a full evening magic stage show in a theater built for it. They retired after raising their children but instead of downsizing, they chose to 'up size' and experience as many adventures as they could. Michael tackles any household DIY task that his bride thinks up and so their homes are rich in detail and in character to the region they are living in. He loves to play with his amphibious airplane while Janice prefers to paint and read on terra firma.

Their 5 children and 8 grandchildren are scattered from Seattle Washington to Los Angeles California to Munich Germany and parts in between.

Perfect for our family reunion of 5.

Vista Seas was the perfect place for our family reunion of 5. Lots of space and beautiful views inside (unique artwork) and out (mountains, green valleys,). The house was stocked with everything we needed for the weekend. Only one little suggestion - invest in a good cleaning. Overall a great stay.

Great for the family

We loved our "Magic Geodome"! Comfortable, well appointed, and also kid friendly. Close enough to town and beaches, quiet mountain feel. Recommend for most ages although there are stairs to climb to 2 of the 3 bedrooms. Very adequate for cooking meals also. Five stars!

Interesting and fun!

This house is definitely one of a kind, from its unique shape to its eclectic artwork display. The owners are definitely big fans of Houdini:) The house is very spacious and allows for a lot of people to stay in it and feel comfortable. Outdoor deck is also a really nice touch. Loved the fact that it has a washer and dryer which came in handy when we experienced a few wine spills.

The house was not as clean as we would have liked, but overall I think this house is a great place for outdoorsy people and the views cannot be beat. You feel like you are in the country, yet are not that far from town to get just about anything you need. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

Stunning House!

It was a very unique and great experience! We just absolutely loved staying here over the weekend. Everything in this house was stunning and thoughtful. We were in awe! Whether is was the sitting area next to the fireplace or deck outside of it, everything has its charm. Everything was really classy.

Without a doubt we would certainly come back to stay here. This is by far one of the best places we've stayed. We highly recommend this place.

Michael was very responsive and accommodating to all our requests. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your lovely property.

Check in is 4PM, check out is 10 AM. No unregistered guests permitted on the property without the owners written consent. No overnight guests. No smoking in the house or animals of any kind due to owners severe allergies. Reasonable quiet and respect for our neighbors is expected. The house should be left in a reasonable tidy state.

We go to great lengths to be welcoming and want all our guests to make themselves at home and enjoy their stay. House rule violations will incur the following fees: $50 per unregistered guest on the property without owners written consent, $75. per undeclared guest staying overnight or smoking in the house, $150. per pet. $50. / hour for late check out due to the limited time available to clean the property for the next guests.
Do note that you may use any payment method you choose for the price of the convenience fee they charge the owner. The required deposit is non refundable and will secure your dates.
This home is on two levels and less suited for those with mobility difficulties. Children are welcome. No renters under 25. 6 person limit
