Abaco consists of two main islands connected together (Great Abaco and Little Abaco). The Great Abaco Island extends some 90 miles long, but is not more than four miles wide on average.

The Great and Little Abaco islands are accompanied by a long chain of smaller islands (Cays pronounced Keys) ringing the eastern side of Abaco. All of these islands together are often referred to as 'The Abacos.' The Abacos are part of the 'Bahamas Out Islands' or the 'Family Islands.'

Some of the more notable Abaco islands include Elbow Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Man O War Cay, Great Guana Cay, and Lubbers Quarters. There are 100 plus Cays and small islands in all!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Shared the 3 bedroom Villa set with two other of couples who are friends. Beautiful beach here and the snorkeling on the backside of the "Turtle Rocks" just offshore was excellent. Very secluded and romantic, but great restaurants in nearby Marsh Harbour.

Breath taking view, a few hiccups

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our time at Sea Glass however there were a few issues. The house was perfect, cracker style that fit perfectly for our group of seven. Could not beat the beach and view! The pool however needed to be vacuumed and several of the tiles were falling off from the sides. The lower bedroom area had no hot water at all, but the outside shower did so we managed. In the upstairs, kitchen was well equipped, but fridge took 3 days to actually get cold! Also keurig did not work at all (i even cleaned it). Had to borrow a coffee pot from next door. Beds were all very comfortable with plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Could not access property from main entrance, keypad had no power, so had to call for directions on how to access our house a different way. Directions were also difficult to follow, at least for us. Overall had a good time. If you are not into the water-diving, swimming, fishing- this is not the place for you!!! Will likely try to stay on another cay if we decide to come back.

Amazing Property-Highly Recommend!!

  • 5 of 5

My fiance' and I had an amazing time at this property. The private beach is extremely secluded and the pool is equally as amazing. We were able to snorkel at Turtle Rock(visible from the property) and saw an abundance of marine life right off of the private beach. The location is also perfect as it is right between Treasure Cay and Marsh Harbour. A rental car is definitely necessary, but they are very affordable on the island. I highly suggest staying at this property whether it's a romantic get away or a family vacation. Lots of stuff to do!!!

Quiet family vacation in a lovely spot

  • 4 of 5

our stay at the villas at palmetto was great. The sea glass villa was comfortable with amble room for our family of four. The beach and pool area make it hard to go farther afield and there were many days we just stayed at the house.

We saw lots of sea turtles and fish on our walk out to the rocks at low tide.

Our second day we had Justin from local boy fishing charters take us off shore and caught dinner for 6 nights! Justin was a great guide on all things Abaco and I would highly recommend him and his mate JR.

We rented a boat in marsh harbor for 5 days which was the low point of our trip. The winds were blowing at 22mph and the sea was very choppy. This made visibility difficult and two hours out the engine hit a submerged rock.

The folks at CJ dorado abaco charged us 5,200.00 for the damage and left us feeling like we had just been hustled. We hired a guide for the two other days we could take the boat out and visited no name cay with the pigs then up to the shark and ray beach. The last day we did a tour of hope town, snorkeling and lounging at Tahiti beach then lunch at pg crackers. Our guide Fritz from the boat rental company was great and I wish we had just hired him day one.

Maxwells is a good supermarket in marsh harbor and two trips there plus our fish kept us happy for our whole trip.

Treasure sands beach club in treasure cay is a nice spot for lunch. Really beautiful beach!

Total relaxation

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience renting a home in the Bahamas. After years of resort vacations in Nassau, we chose to relax, and my choice was perfect. I carefully chose Palmetto Beach Villas from the many options available, and the whole trip was so smooth. The amenities in the home made the transition to vacation time seamless! On the way from the airport we stopped at Maxwells and then easily found the home. The roads are very nice! We grilled burgers the first day, and they left a filled propane tank for the grill. Tons of dishes and utensils, great gas stove, oven, keurig, dishwasher, microwave. Also, an assortment of sunscreens and all cleaning and paper products. We only ate out twice the entire week as the beach and ocean and the house provided all we needed. The islands offshore look far away, but at low tide you can actually walk to them because the sandbars are so shallow. We saw turtles and rays and fishes. Lots of fun and we would return. The island property managers checked in on us a few times, but we didn't even need them for anything. We saw only 6 other people the entire week walking along the beach. Delta flights to Marsh Harbor on Tues and Sat make this an affordable, quick trip!

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently rented the "Palmetto house" at Villas at Palmetto Beach on Abaco island in the Bahamas. We LOVED it! Very private, secluded white sand beach, and all the comforts of home. Besides snorkeling, we beachcombed, and explored the several acres of rich Tropicale foliage that the villas are situated on. The place is covered with all kinds of fruit trees, and coconut palms, we had fresh key limes and tangelos in our nightly cocktails. I think I even saw grape vines. There is a great pool and large hot tub patio area with a tiki bar and a pool house that has a bathroom and separate changing room, as well as a place where all the water toys, float mats, kayaks etc are kept. The amenities are top notch, and the place looks even better than the pictures in their ad.

Sun, Sand and Sea - Villas at Palmetto Beach are a Stunning Getaway Value!

  • 5 of 5

We just rented the SeaGlass house at the Villas at Palmetto Beach, and couldn't have loved it more!! It sits on the edge of a private, sugary beach only steps away from the blue and green waters of the gorgeous Sea of Abaco. The house is clean, bright and beautifully furnished, so welcoming and comfortable! The kitchen is modern, open and has everything we needed, with a grill on the deck. We did our grocery shopping in town, and were set for the week. It was incredible to have a private hot tub and pool right outside the door, and you could step out right onto the beach and into the surf. We saw sea turtles and sting rays while we snorkeled right out in front of the house! It is quiet, private, and peaceful. There's a separate bathroom and changing room by the pool so we didn't have to track wet swimsuits and sand into the house - a smart detail. The air conditioning works great, but it was nice some days to just open the windows and have a great cross breeze. The view of the Sea and Turtle Rocks is amazing. My husband and I love it here, and highly recommend this rental.
