About Kurt Martin

A warm hello from Kurt and Tami! We consider ourselves truly blessed by God's gifts to us and that we can share them.

Both of us were born & raised in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Kurt operates a communications business and Tami is a school administrator.

Part of Kurt's upbringing was in the building trades. Being blessed with the abilty to learn and implement skills, Kurt designed and built much of the home himself. Being a bit of a perfectionist and a gadget lover, the attention to detail is obvious and the home has many, many extra features.

Kurt Martin purchased this house in 1999

Why Kurt Martin chose Central

Kurt's grandparents owned property on Round Lake when he was a boy, in the '60s. Since his boyhood, it was always his dream to own a Round Lake property.

What makes this house unique

A summer morning swim to the raft in water that is mirror smooth under a bright blue sky is simply awe inspiring. An evening pontoon boat ride for dinner at the Quarter Deck is a picture perfect close to a wonderful day on the lake.

Spacious Family Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Round Lake is a perfect lake for all ages when gathering a large family! There is plenty to do and enjoy at this location! The house is spacious and has plenty of options for individual needs! A large kitchen to prepare and serve food as well as a big island to play Tenzi! A sandy beach to build sand castles! There are plenty of swim toys, life jackets, and a slide and raft to venture on. The lake can be enjoyed for fishing or jet skiing. An enormous camp fire pit to enjoy. And if it does rain, there are indoor options of the incredible movie selection for all ages and genres. It is a beautiful place to make new memories. The local grocery store served our needs for our last minute items. The golf options were numerous for those interested. Our family enjoyed our week despite the record rainfall of 9+ inches. We discovered Tenzi, determination of puzzle completion, and had incredible moments in the grand open living room. Nisswa is close, so visiting the Chocolate Ox 4x was a treat for us and the kids. This place can be a spot for multiple occasions and gatherings. Thank you Kurt and Tami for a wonderful week.

Beautiful! Pictures don't do it justice!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the main house and boat house for 4 days while we were in the area for a family wedding. The house is huge! I looked it up on zillow and it's like 7000 sq ft. Immaculate condition. It was much nicer than we were expecting based on pictures. The master bedroom is amazing. They have two of anything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Yard is open and very clean. It was too cold for us to swim, but beach would be perfect for swimming with a nice sandy beach and shallow water for young children to play in. Owners must be super techs because every room has a nice TV set up. I give this 5 stars without hesitation. Frankly I think it's pricing is under the market value of what they could be charging for a place like this. The only cons were that there is a massive deck that is under construction. It's was still very "clean" looking outside even though deck was clearly being built. Also there was a square hole in the basement that had plywood over it in the basement. I think they might have removed an in ground hot tube or something. Anyway, it was the only thing that made the basement seem unfinished. I perceived it as dangerous to walk on because the boards seemed springy and I was a littled worried about someone falling through. Owners are very straight forward and business like in their interactions with you. Lastly, while they didn't charge us for anything, the owners wanted a credit card on file for unlimited damages rather than taking a traditional deposit. I thought this was obsessive, but the owners were very straight forward and responsive to deal with. They don't leave you to wonder about anything. You will know exactly what your responsibilities are and what theirs are. All in all a wonderful experience and beautiful property.

Finally found the one!

  • 5 of 5

We have been vacationing with our family of 14+ in the Minnesota area for 11 years now and we finally found a cabin that has it all. We had plenty of room in the cabin, the beach and lake are beautiful, it was great having a pontoon and jet skis available to us daily. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything we needed. The house was well-maintained and clean. It'll be even better once the deck gets on it. Thanks Kurt and Tami, we'll see you next year.

Lovely home, many hidden charges

  • 4 of 5

We rented this home for a family reunion at the end of June. The home was beautiful! Tons of space for 17 of us. Gorgeous view of the lake. The beach was great for the kids. It was nice to have the added convenience of the jet skis and boats to rent. My big complaint would be that the owner added many unexpected extra charges at the end of our stay. For example, we were charged $30 for additives to the gas tanks of the jet skis/pontoons, $45 for refueling of the boats even thought we added fuel on one occasion, and almost $50 for "labor" to screw in a handle on one of the jet skis that was broken while we were on it. In addition, we were charged for more gas than we used. Though the owner wasn't the most pleasant to deal with but we otherwise had a lovely vacation.

Owner's Response: This guest's complaint was in regards to the rental of power boats (jets skis x2 & pontoon) we offer exclusively to our guests. The power boat rental agreements states that they will be fully fueled at the commencement of the rental, which they were. The agreement also states that they must be returned filled to capacity, which they were not. Jet skis consume a significant amount of fuel in a full day, typically 15 gallons or more each. As a courtesy to this guest, we loaned them two 29 gallon gas caddies full of fuel, so they would not have to make numerous trips to the gas station with 5 gallon containers. When this guest departed, they had not refilled any of the power boats they utilized nor did they refill the gas caddies. As an extra service identified in our agreement, we will refill the power boats returned with fuel for a service fee of 15.00 each. The agreement specifically states returned powerboats, and not during the rental period. This guest consumed a total of 60 gallons of gasoline in the power boats. Emptying both of the 29 gallon gas caddies full of fuel that we loaned them and a portion of a third we used to refill the power boats after their departure. Yes, per our agreement we did charge this guest 15.00 per power boat (x3) to refill each with fuel (gasoline and 2-stroke oil). This re-fueling service not only included the refilling the power boats, but purchasing the required fuel at a gas station that was a 20+ mile round trip, loading the empty gas caddies, dispensing the Sea Foam additive at the required ratio, filling the caddies, purchasing 2-stroke oil, and unloading the two 190 pound gas caddies. We provided this guest copies of the dated and time stamped receipts for the fuel (dated two days after they departed, it was too windy, big white caps, to re-fuel the day they departed.) We did not take any markup on the fuel, simply passing our cost to the guest. We did not charge this guest any fee for use of our gas caddies. The fuel we loaned this guest, in the caddies, was treated with additive. All we asked was to have returned what we loaned, fuel treated with Sea Foam additive. It took 30.00 worth of Sea Foam to treat 60 gallons of gasoline. The handle they broke was not screwed on but riveted, so it was not "simply screwing it on" as we had detailed to this guest. Considering we had over 2 hours into sourcing the parts and the repair process, $47.50 for repair labor is very reasonable. There was no "hidden charges".

Annual Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 14 stayed in this beautiful home for our week long vacation. We rented both this main house and the Beach House. We could not have been more pleased with our entire experience. Upon arrival, the homes were spotless. Initially, we were concerned about all of us being under the same roof, but there is enough space for "private time" when needed. The beach is perfect for all ages and the water is crystal clear. There is easy access to Gull Lake for additional options. On the one rainy day we had, there was plenty to do in the Baxter/Brainerd/Nisswa area. Access to a washer/dryer was ideal for our group as there are 5 "tweens"- think towels! The owner/s were extremely helpful before and even during our stay if we had questions. Loved the jet skis! We would highly recommend this property and we are booked for 2014!

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family absolutely loved staying at this place. The house and beach house were beautiful and perfect for our family of 15-20. The sandy beach area and lake made this vacation all the more enjoyable. We had incredible fishing and the weather over 4th of July week couldn't have been more perfect. We already booked this for next year and can't wait to return!
