Historic Neighborhood - 1 Lg Bedroom(Queen), 1 Sm Bedroom(Trundle), Loft(Futon)
Spacious apartment available for rent on upper level of historic 1879 home. We are located in one of Brunswick’s most desirable neighborhoods: two blocks from the center of town, a 10 minute walk from Bowdoin campus, a 20 minute walk to the riverfront and a short drive to several ocean access points. Our renovated apartment features vaulted ceilings in the living room, one large bedroom, one smaller bedroom/study, a loft, full bathroom and washer/dryer off the kitchen. The rental is fully equipped with furniture, linens, kitchenware and WiFi.
In the heart of historic downtown Brunswick, we are a short walk to Maine Street with more than 48 stores and restaurants. In the summer, the town “Green” provides evening Music in the Park performances, twice-weekly Farmers’ Markets, Artwalk and 'Taste of Brunswick.' Bowdoin College offers its well-known Art Museum and each summer hosts an International Music Festival, as well as the famous Maine State Music Theater. Just a few miles’ drive will take you to the many picnic coves and sandy beaches in Harpswell, Bailey Island, Orr’s Island, Bath and Freeport. Brunswick is considered the gateway to Mid-Coast Maine; it is a perfect starting point for many short day trips to lighthouses and other coastal attractions like Lands End, Cundy's Harbor, Wiscasset, Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, Georgetown Island, and Pemaquid....
We love it here and will happily share the secret places most people drive by on their way to overcrowded and oversold locations. We look forward to introducing guests to our beautiful area and hope they will return summer after summer. Our historic neighborhood is a tight knit community filled with professors, actors, artists, chefs and writers. You will love it here.
Please note that there is a set of stairs up to the apartment and a set of stairs up to the 3rd floor master bedroom. So if you have a difficult time with stairs this may not be the best apartment for you. It is on the two upper levels of an 1879 historic home as mentioned above.

About Jason Albaugh
Originally from California we have taken an educational tour of the country for my wife to receive her Masters from Tufts and PhD from Duke and now she is currently a professor at Bowdoin College. I am a CPA working in Brunswick. Though we will never be seen as real 'Mainers,' we have adopted Maine as our favorite state. We want to help those not from here to experience Maine as if you had a family member or friend living here.
Jason Albaugh purchased this Apartment in 2009
Why Jason Albaugh chose Brunswick
We bought our historic 1879 home on School Street to be within walking distance of Bowdoin College and all that downtown Brunswick has to offer. School Street is a special neighborhood of professors, artists and writers that we fell in love with. It has beautiful brick sidewalks and neighbors that pride themselves on their gardens. We wanted to have an apartment that we could rent out to other visiting faculty or international musicians traveling to the Bowdoin International Music Festival. We would like to open up our apartment to Summer guests to enjoy Maine the way we do.
What makes this Apartment unique
We love our proximity to all the shops and restaurants on Maine Street. In the morning, you can enjoy Wild Oats bakery at the end of our street for some yummy baked goods or a cappuccino, and in the evening take in a movie at the one- screen Evening Star Theater in the quaint down-town 'mall'. We have a beautiful yard where we grow our own blueberries, blackberries and roses. I love the tree lined street of Park Row with the huge Captain Houses. I love that we are so close to the ocean and many amazing coves and harbors and yet still in the center of a college town that is thriving with shops, restaurants and things to do and see. Join in on some of our neighborhood events or let us point you in the right direction for an adventure off the beaten path.

Beautiful New England home
We had a wonderful stay here. Our hosts were very welcoming and thoughtfully provided everything we needed. The house is beautiful, spacious, well maintained and decorated, and very clean. The kitchen is stocked with cooking pans and utensils. Despite being close to the main house, it's very quiet inside. It's the perfect New England getaway!
This was the first time using and staying with a Home Away from Home. We had a wonderful first time experience. This property and the owners were perfect! I can't say enough positive things about our stay. This property had more than enough room, and was quiet and cozy. Just what we were looking for! Thank you!
Thank you guys. You were super guests. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Next time you are in the area you are welcome back.
Best host ever!
First of all, the house itself was fantastic! Jason didn't miss a thing! Everything you could ever need is right there including an entire album full of pointers and reviews and things to do. It's a beautiful place. But, even more than being a terrific host, he went above and beyond to help us when my husband broke his foot at Acadia our second day there. Jason led us to the hospital, and he even offered to let my husband sleep in their extra room downstairs so he wouldn't have to climb the steps. His whole family was just wonderful. There aren't enough words to say how thankful we are for their help and hospitality. The house is within walking distance to the restaurants and shops in town. It's quiet and peaceful and safe. I would stay here over and over if we were to return. Thank you for everything!
You guys were great. So sorry for the broken foot on your vacation. If you are ever in Maine you are welcome to stay in our apartment again.
This rental provided a great location for visiting sites from Portland to the Boothbay area.
The property is just as described and provided our family of three a very pleasant place from which to viisit mid-coast Maine between Portland and the Boothbay area. Jason was very friendly and provided a lot of useful information regarding local attractiions. The apartment was furnished with everything needed for a stress free stay. We found Brunswick to be a very nice small city. The apartment is located on a quiet street within easy walking distance of Maine Street with its numerous places to eat and nice shops. Bowdoin College is also just a few minutes walk away. The art gallery/museum on campus is worth a visit. Other highlights included walking around "old" Portland with our son who is spending the summer there, and visiting Portland Head Lighthouse and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. We also visited Reid State Park and Popham Beach Park. Popam Beach, while very busy, was great. It has an extensive sand beach and when the tide is out it is possible to walk an exposed sand bar to a small island located some distance from shore.
You were great guests and always welcome back. I am glad you enjoyed your walk out to the island at Popham during low tide and visit with your son in Portland.
Location, location, and location
This home is steps away from the heart of downtown Brunswick. You can easily walk to all the great restaurants, boutiques, cafe and bakery, grocery stores, and antique shops nearby. The hosting family welcomes you with warm hospitality and is ready to answer any questions or requests. We especially loved lounging out on their perfectly groomed and manicured garden and beautiful outdoor space! The rental unit has plenty room and all the amenities you may need to feel right at home, even washer and dryer. We highly recommend this place and will return again, hopefully soon!
You were great guests and we would love to have you back again.
Brunswick in June
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! We were absolutely amazed by the spaciousness of your apartment, and the great attention to detail throughout - from guest umbrellas, the decorative lighting in the living room, instructions on how to cook lobster, to a beautiful bouquet of fresh lilacs on the kitchen table! While the stairs up to the apartment and the third-floor bedroom were quite steep to manage with luggage (even for reasonably young knees), we really enjoyed ourselves, and were delighted by our weekend in Brunswick.
Thank you. It was a pleasure to have you stay with us for Bowdoin Alumni Weekend. I am glad you enjoyed the apartment and stay in Brunswick. Think of us in the future as you come back to visit Bowdoin or the Mid-Coast Maine area.
This is the way I would want to vacation in Maine and you are in luck that we live here year-round and can direct you to the hidden gems of coastal Maine. You will love our little town and coastal communities!
