About Minnette LeBlanc, Owner, Miu Wong, Bookkeeper

Developing and brokering new restaurant, club and music venues in Williamsburg, and retail and commercial real estate in Brooklyn; classical singer, fine art dealer; knowledge of German language and culture; frequent traveler to California and Europe.

Minnette LeBlanc, Owner, Miu Wong, Bookkeeper purchased this apartment in 1988

Why Minnette LeBlanc, Owner, Miu Wong, Bookkeeper chose Brooklyn

This is a large house for the City, but the sun, nearby East River air and gardens make it feel like the country. After living in Tribeca, Manhattan, I felt as though I bought the gardens and the house came with them. I live and work in the building and one floor is often available for guests. It is quiet for New York, restful, out of the way and private - and 2 blocks away from everything!

What makes this apartment unique

Fresh breeze drifts in from the river - there are actually windows on all 4 sides! The garden is full of the scent of roses, lilies, honeysuckle, violets, lavender and herbs just outside the windows. ....It's great to walk around the corner early in the morning for newspapers, cappuccino and home made croissants, and sit at sidewalk cafe tables and meet the locals!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Minnette,

Thank you for letting us stay at your apartment. It was as you described. Very quiet, spacious and perfectly close to restaurants, shops and most especially our new grandson!

Clean and convenient

  • 3 of 5

This apartment is conveniently located to many attractions in Brooklyn/Williamsburg. The location is on a street with mixed industrial and residential use and very near the train (noisy, but with earplugs I slept ok). There is a lot of new construction going on in Williamsburg and you are sure to see a transformation of this area in the near future. The apartment was clean and safe. We didn't have time to spend in the back garden but it could have used some landscape maintenance. We had a nice view of it from our kitchen window. Bedding in any accommodation is of major interest to me. The sheets were thin and the comforter and blankets dated. They were clean but needed to be replaced with new. The management was very accommodating and easy to work with.

Owner's Response: Thanks for coming to stay with us in Williamsburg, and yes, it is changing - many modern new buildings, but still, many remain with "old world" charm. You caught us at the height of the season change in November, with the changing colors, and our trees and 30 foot high wall of ivy and roses was shedding leaves - so the rear garden may have looked a little messy, with the falling leavers. But we do have a wonderful gardener who keeps it well tended. The beds have all Ralph Lauren comforters and linens, with extra Scottish and Irish natural woolen blankets, as they reflect the period of the building, and are of the highest quality. But we do have a large stock of other options, so just ask, and we are happy to accommodate every taste.

Wonderful accomodations in Williamsburg right by the East River

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed at this listing and found it to be a wonderful experience. We stayed on the second floor and that unit is the entire front to back of the house. There is a great amount of room to stretch out with a large bedroom behind French doors that open to the living area. In that generous room there is a twin bed in a nook that has curtain for privacy during the night. A full kitchen is available at the back with a table and five chairs. You are nestled right by the Williamsburg Bridge and a few blocks and a short walk up from the subway station. There is a full grocery store one block away by the river. Joggers and bikers use a nearby street and there are lots of nearby restaurants. A great place to stay for visiting Manhattan and seeing some of the best spots in Brooklyn.

Charming apartment

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the apartment for 3 days in early October and loved being there. Our arrival was early and departure quite late and Minnette was nice enough to allow us to fit into those times at no extra charge. The apartment is very roomy with a large eat-in kitchen which we loved. Great restaurants are close by, the East River ferry just a couple of blocks away. There fabulous is a grocery store at the end of the street, Urban Market of Williamsburg. Highly recommend this apartment and the price is certainly right. The area is arty and fun to walk around.

Great home base away from home

  • 5 of 5

My 17 yo and I visited NYC for college visits. We loved living in the neighborhood, and spending time in a place not overrun with suburban chain stores. We worked with Miu & Maria, and they were wonderful. We explored the area, and then relaxed in the very comfortable and spacious apartment. I would definitely stay there again in the future.

Notes:
One of the great things about this apartment is its ':walk-ability'. It sits in the middle of a vibrant, international village, and you can go anywhere or get anything - on foot, or with a car that will affordably pick you up in 5 minutes and take you anywhere. But when you are at home, it is quiet and restful, and feels like the country - at least, to a New Yorker!
