We were born and raised in New Orleans and moved to Ocean Springs in 1994 to raise our children in a small-town environment. Ocean Springs was a perfect location for us, being right in the middle of family in New Orleans to the west, and family in Fairhope, AL to the east. Over the years, we have come to feel very at home in Ocean Springs, but New Orleans and Fairhope will always be in our hearts.
Dara Smith purchased this house in 2006
I guess you can say that Fairhope chose us. My family found Fairhope in 1981, fell in love with the town, and several family members moved there since that time. Over the years we visited family in Fairhope, found the town peaceful and uniquely beautiful, and we would like to permanently live there when we retire.
Kensington is our family/vacation home that we ourselves visit every chance we can. We take pride in personally maintaining our property to preserve it and the furnishings for our comfort as well as for our guests. When you come to Fairhope for an extended vacation at Kensington, you will feel like you are truly at 'home away from home.' We are confident that you will be so pleased with your stay in Kensington that you will want to return as often as you can get away from your own town.
Just move in with your suitcase, make yourself at home, and enjoy the town and surrounding area. My local management team at Roberts Brothers, Inc. -- Marilyn Taylor and Genie Davis -- are always available should there be any problems that require immediate attention.
We relocated to the area and had the pleasure of staying at Kensington Court for six months during our transition. (8/15-1/16) This is a home, not a rental house. With three children, we cook! The kitchen had every imaginable item you would need to cook any meal, including a holiday meal. We spent Christmas in the home. The Location on Fairhope Avenue is extremely convenient to everything downtown, as well as the grocery store, schools, sports fields & Post Office. It's located on a quiet cul-da-sac in a safe neighborhood. We were fortunate to find it! We enjoyed our stay and it made for an easy transition to this quaint town.
We have rented this lovely home for three years now and have already renewed for next year. The house has a great layout with the master suite on one side of the living/dining room and the guest wing on the other. The kitchen and laundry appliances are all up to date. The large garage makes a protected entry on rainy days, and the enclosed patio is a lovely spot on sunny ones. The furnishings give the feel of someone's home, not a hotel, and add to the warmth and comfort. The neighborhood is quiet and level, ideal for walking, and close to a large variety of grocery, drug and discount stores. Fairhope has a public beach and park on Mobile Bay two miles away, and many activities throughout the year.
The Kensington House is located in beautiful Fairhope, AL, a quaint town on the Mobile Bay. The house location is within walking distance of several strip malls with grocery stores, pharmacy, various restaurants, and other shopping, as well as a public transportation terminal if you would like to venture further without driving.
The center of town is located just 1 mile down Fairhope Avenue. Fairhope has interesting shops, dining for all occasions, a beautiful public pier and park grounds along the bay perfect for walking, biking, or just sitting to watch sunsets. Book lovers will not want to miss The Fairhope Library and Page & Palette bookstore and cafe.
While you stay in Fairhope, you may want to tour historic Mobile, AL, or try your luck at the Mobile Greyhound Park, just a short drive across the bayway. A little further west, is the MS Gulf Coast where you will find outlet shopping in Gulfport, the quaint artsy towns of Ocean Springs, Bay St. Louis and Pass Christian as well as exciting casino action in Biloxi and Gulfport.
If the beach beckons you, the beautiful white sand and salty wave action is just a day trip away in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, and you can stop to shop at the outlet mall in Foley, AL on your way.
Outdoor enthusiasts will also find golfing, fishing, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding and many other activities in the AL and MS Gulf Coast area.
