Great home... with some room for improvement
This was our second year in a row staying at this home. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The home is centrally located, clean, and spacious. I'm posting some comments since I would have liked to have known these issues prior to arrival. I emailed the owners in advance of posting so they were aware of the issues and could response. Since the entire email doesn't fit, I'm posting highlights. It sounds like they plan to address the issues from Feb so hopefully some of these no longer apply. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. But want to make sure future renters are aware of these issues.
* the far bedroom downstairs received no heat. thank you for bringing the space heater. it saved our kids. but the first night was painfully cold for them. [owner response] It was very cold for all in Tahoe during theses times. The lows were in the single digits and the high was never above freezing. This is unusual for Tahoe. It tends to average about mid 30s in the winter. We have had a heating and plumbing company go out last year and replace the heating vents and ducts under the house to get better heat to the back bedroom.
* the BBQ needs to be replaced. the back end of the heating tubes is literally falling apart such that it sits 4 inches lower than where its supposed to be. the back of the bbq has a gaping hole making it impossible to even warm up the bbq in preparation for grilling. I had to use aluminum foil to cover up the gaping opening in the back so that our steaks would actually cook.
[response] The BBQ was in the garage, covered up to be thrown away since we do not use our BBQs in the winter. The guests that had checked out the day you arrived, moved it and used it. We had planned on are getting a new BBQ this spring.
* the hot water continues to be a problem. it would often take several minutes to get the warm water to reach our faucets. i recognize that this is a very costly change but want to call it out for you since it continued to be an issue. i recognize this may be difficult to fix. [response] Again it was so cold during your stay. The house has an ON Demand hot water system in the home which is why you never run out if hot water, but a Tahoe’s water is so extremely cold that even a machine that heats water instantly takes time. There is nothing more we can do to get the water hotter faster. Public utilities would have to heat the water in the ground then pipe it out. That won’t happen.
Honestly the best cabin my family stayed at so far. Everything was very clean and new. No complaints at all.
Great family location
Roomy And festive
The house fit perfectly for our little getaway. Very clean, had everything we needed, and the location was perfect. 0 cell service, but we were able to connect through the WiFi (plus, it was nice to disconnect). Would definitely stay again!
Beautiful house for our family of 8 and 2 dogs!
Plenty of room and lots to do...the grandkids didn't want to leave!
We stayed at the property for our family reunion and had a great time.
