Colorful, spacious home away from home.
Two friends and I decided to rent a home for our Maine vacation and we couldn't have made a better choice than Meadowsedge. The pictures don't really do the house justice. The kitchen is very large and one of my friends who loved to cook was in her glory in the kitchen. All the appliances were high end.
We used the dining room every morning for breakfast and evenings for dinner. We would open the sliding doors to get a breeze (it was still a bit warm when we were there and any breeze was welcome). We not only had deer in the yard but a large flock (20-25) of wild turkeys!
We made excellent use of the screened-in porch with the fireplace. We had a fire 6 of the 7 nights we were there. It was very relaxing to sit there at night and talk about our adventures that day and plan for the next day or to simply listen to the fire crackling.
There were a few negatives - one was that you sink into all of the furniture when you sit down. While some enjoy that, we didn't. It was a bit tough on the knees to get out of a chair or the couch (even the couch on the porch was like this).
The third bedroom was downstairs and that area was very damp and musty smelling. A dehumidifier was running the entire time we were there, but unfortunately didn't make the area more livable. We had no interest in watching TV during our stay so it didn't effect us that way, but I was forced to bunk with one of my friends instead of each of us having our own bedrooms. Maine did have some unusually warm weather this summer which probably contributed some to this issue. But overall, we couldn't have been happier with this home. A short ride to Acadia, not too far from the markets for shopping. And owners that were responsive and easy to work with.
I'd definitely rent here again if I have the chance to go back to Mount Desert. Thank you Katy and Daniel.
