Our Second Stay at Casa Pirata

We just finished our second stay at Casa Pirata. We thoroughly enjoyed the house and the surroundings. As the pictures show, the views are amazing, Lucky enough to have some beautiful rainbows most every morning after a brief shower.

Laura was there to meet us well after midnight upon our arrival and had arranged transportation from Santo Domingo which worked well. During our stay we had some cable TV issues (fixed the next day), the pool was cleaned daily, our housekeeper was courteous and our meals (3 nights) were amazing. The chef came to cook fresh lobster, fresh mahi and some amazing dominican meals. The best way to communicate with Laura is WhatsApp as she is quick to respond.

The beach (which is awesome) is a couple of hundred yards down the hill, Solymar is a great lunch place right on the beach and if you are patronizing the restaurant they will take care of your beach loungers (tip Francois well, he's a good man!).

At some point we'll get back again!

lokated on the hillside overlooking the ocean...the problem with this house is that it will charme you, to the point where you will have to force yourself to get out...and this you really should do because it is only a very short walk to the magnificent beach...

After seeing the pictures and reading the reviews of what villa Pirata offered, it sounded perfect. After spending 10 nights there, we can say it was exactly what we were looking for and more.

House of Horrors

Wasps’ nests, bees, roaches, and an army of ants, around the kitchen are just the few horrible issues regarding this house. The most distressing problem was the awful, unpleasant, and disgusting sewer smell coming from my bathroom. It got so bad that we try spraying mosquito repellent to mask the smell of the sewage. On many occasions, we use the front entrance bathroom. In addition the dryer did not work. An alarming concern was that the house was not clean or “well maintained” as advertised on the HomeAway website. We tried contacting Olivia Moncarey, the owner and her assistant but were unable to communicate our concerns. (We did talk to Olivia’s assistant upon departure). Another unsettling issue is that the owner was aware of all these problems but did not correct them before we arrived. We definitely do not recommend this house to anybody.
