wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

This summer we made our second trip to stay at the Shadtle's place in VT. As before, it was wonderful. The house is big, clean, airy, and has all of the amenities my family needed. The grounds are lovely and the location is spectacular. We especially love the fire pit, the lake access, and the views from the deck. My daughters love the loft upstairs.

Bob and Mary are very attentive to their guests' needs, and couldn't be better hosts.

We find the house to be a terrific value and expect to return again. I can't wait!

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights here as we had a wedding to attending at the Lake Morey Resort. The photos of the house really do not do it justice. The home and the views are stunning! The house was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. It is very close to the resort, which was a plus for us! We enjoyed spending time out on the deck soaking in the amazing views and fall foliage. We especially loved that our dog could join us. She loved lounging and sunbathing on the deck. We spent an afternoon hiking up near Glen Falls, which was gorgeous, and basically in the back yard of this property. Mary was so helpful and was available to answer any questions we had. Check in and check out were a breeze. We plan to come back with our friends who got married on their one year anniversary weekend!

Can't wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time here and can't wait to come again. Frankly, it was even nicer than the photos indicate. The views, the property itself, and the location were absolutely wonderful for our family. The house sits way up on a hill, providing great privacy, peace and quiet. At the bottom of the hill is a set of stairs that lead to a private dock and lake access, where they had kayaks for us to use. We loved the nice big fire pit in the yard, and toasted marshmallows every night. The house itself is very nicely designed and well-maintained. Everything was clean and comfortable, and Mary, the owner, was incredibly responsive and helpful. Highly recommended.

Spacious and comfortable vacation home.

  • 5 of 5

We had 5 adults and three teen-aged boys here for two weeks and never got in each others way. The house was spacious, clean and modern. Appliances were as listed and in working order, it was nice to have a vacation home at a lake with washer and dryer. The home is situated with wonderful views of lake and surrounding mountains and the deck provided a great place to gather for card games, happy hour, etc. We ran, biked and walked the road around the lake and swam, paddled and kayaked in the lake. We also took day trips to a couple of the nearby mountains as well as to the new Hanafords grocery in Bradford. The house has a nice gas grill in addition to the modern kitchen and we ate most meals in and then went to Whippy Dip for ice cream. The owners could not have been easier to work with. This was our sixth year renting on the lake and this was by far the most comfortable place we have been to.

great for groups

  • 5 of 5

We've rented this house for two years for our large, two-generation group (20s and 50s) and have been very satisfied. The Great Room with open kitchen is a great space for cooking and eating together. The cooks found the kitchen well equipped and spacious. There was ample room for all 10 of us at the expandable dining room table and in the seating area (brought some of those Adirondack chairs in from the deck). When the weather permitted us to move outdoors, we enjoyed the spacious decks and the view of the lake. Right behind the house are trails which lead up into the woods and down to the waterfalls. The owners are very responsive and eager to provide information and recommendations. The walk around the lake was a good expedition for some of our group while others biked and kayaked (they have both though some of us brought our own). We look forward to next year; we've already booked our time.

Perfect Home for a Large Family

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful mountain home was just perfect for my large family. We were in Fairlee for a family wedding which was held just down the street. The location for us was awesome! We had 7 adults and 5 children (ages 3-12) in the home and never once did we feel like we did not have enough space. The home has 3 floors and very large, open rooms and wrap around decks that give added bonus space. The first floor has two bedrooms one of which accommodated my parents. This bedroom has it's own bathroom. On the next level you find a spacious Great Room that we just loved. There was plenty of seating and it was so bright and homey. The home has a very nice kitchen and large dining room table. Outside the Great Room was a large deck that we just loved to sit out on, both in the mornings and in the evenings. This level has a full bathroom and a third bedroom. Then there is the loft!! My niece and four nephews just loved this space. They could go up there to play, or read. They enjoyed using many of the games that are there for guests to use. There were so many beds in this loft that I'm not even sure we used them all. This house was everything and more for my family and we will be back for sure whether it is during the winter to ski or in the summer to swim. We swam in nearby Lake Morey and a few of my brothers golfed at the golf course which was only a few miles away. Owners constantly had the lines of communication open prior to us arriving and we felt very at home here. Everything was pristine and orderly. I would highly recommend this property to anyone with a large group looking for a nice family space.
