About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

The home is located in Kure Beach although the mailing and GPS address are Carolina Beach.

Simple Pleasures was named after the remodel was complete. It's one of a few original beach cottages updated to ''you thought of everything' status.

*Two public beach accesses are across the street

*An enclosed private outside shower

*Backyard is all deck with room to play and dine. The grill is charcoal and lights with propane - the best of both worlds.

*Wash off the sand with the separate foot shower hang your beach towels on the outside drying rack

*There are bikes to ride and a bike lane to ride in

*4 Tommy Bahama Backpack Cooler Chairs with Storage Pouch and Towel Bar

*The front is a large parking area

*The covered front veranda is perfect for rocking and relaxing with a late afternoon beverage

*Low voltage lighting enhances the rear deck and the landscaping.

*Ceramic tile floor minimizes cleaning issues and wooden blinds allow personal sunshine and privacy control.

*The two bedrooms are separated by the new bathroom with a glass enclosed shower. The rear bedroom has a double bed, a closet, and wall storage. The front bedroom has two twin beds, a closet, and wall storage. Bed linens, towels, beach towels enough for six.

*A glass topped dining table with six comfortable chairs, two love seat convertible sofas that have been enhanced with memory foam for a more comfortable sleeping experience, an entire wall of storage, a flat screen television on a reticulating arm with a sound system and blu ray DVD, a stacked front loading washer and dryer, and a desk for your computer with the included WIFI broadband internet cable access are all open plan with......

*The new kitchen: granite countertops, a great deep sink, a new dishwasher, pull out trash and recycle bins, ample cupboard space, a new stove, a new microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, blender, dishes, pots and pans, glasses, utensils, linens.

*Short distance from the cottage is the Kure Beach Fishing Pier, restaurants, the North Carolina Aquarium, Fort Fisher, the ferry to Southport, and Carolina Beach

* Wilmington is approximately a half hour drive. Busy nightlife, antique stores, the Battleship North Carolina, a pretty historic district.

*We prefer no pets but exceptions are made case-by-case

*Definitely non-smoking, ashtrays are provided for use on the deck and the veranda.

About Karlene and Steve

Wife is Accountant; Husband is Electrical Contractor. We also buy old houses and remodel them; it's creative design for the Accountant and construction management for the Electrician. We love to travel and we love living at the beach

Karlene and Steve purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Karlene and Steve chose Southern Coast

The Town of Kure Beach is unique: no high rises, no dense commercial district, good food in a few favorite places.

What makes this cottage unique

The ocean is just across the street, its a single family house, the beach is not crowded, a true sense of cherishing life's simple pleasures in an otherwise frenetic world.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted to say thanks again. We've been bragging to everyone how

great Simple Pleasures was. I've never stayed anywhere that was so

well stocked with dishes, utensils and supplies. The house was

remodeled / updated beautifully and was very clean, but all of the

extras is what made it such a great place. The outdoor shower and

grill were my two favorite additions. I never took a shower inside,

the outside one was much more convenient. We didn't go to a restaurant

during the entire stay. We grilled, ate on the back deck, then would

go to the rocking chairs to watch the traffic jams. ...

We are already talking about two different trips later this year and

we hope to work Simple Pleasures into the budget for both.

Wonderfully located and very clean

  • 4 of 5

This little house was perfectly located right across from public beach access and was well kept and very clean. It had all the amenities we needed (coffee that was freshly ground for us on arrival, beach towels, laundry detergent and handmade lemongrass soaps). It was a nice neighborhood and we really enjoyed our stay. We would have liked a larger bed but otherwise everything was perfect and we would stay here again!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the review. As always, we strive to make Simple Pleasures just that - simple and pleasant. We agonized over the bed size for a long time and knew it would be an issue now and then. I finally decided there would be no room in the room if we chose a larger bed. When the cottage was built in the 1950's bedrooms tended to be small and larger bed sizes not so common. We appreciate our guests input and look forward to your next visit. Karlene

Lovely cottage! Everything available that one needs !!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time spend at this extremely well kept property! Really one only needs to bring clothes, toiletries & food - everything else provided . I needed assistance with the TV & Steve promptly came to the rescue! Will be back & hopefully make it a tradition in our family for our yearly " beach vacation "

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review. As we've said before, we try to keep Simple Pleasures like we would like our vacations. We couldn't do it if we didn't live in Kure Beach - Steve was working on the island that day. Looking forward to next summer. Karlene

A great place -- clean, close to beach, and a great back patio!

  • 5 of 5

My title sums it up. My kids and I enjoyed the location (a quick walk -- 100 yards tops -- to the water). The owners were especially accommodating and helpful. And the kitchen was stocked with simple things one might need -- spices and paper towels, for instance -- while staying at the beach. Beach bikes, some beach toys, were included as well. I'd definitely recommend this spot.

Wonderful Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

This house held 6 people perfectly. The owners really thought of everything in this gem, from the outdoor shower and footwash down to the buckets for making sandcastles! My family will definitely go back!
