About The Owner

Raised at Sunset Beach. I am now retired from Pearl Harbor. My hobby is woodworking which enabled me to recreate a truly hawaiian home of the past.

Why The Owner chose North Shore Oahu

This home was aquired by our family upon the passing of our mom. We loved the many treasured memories that we had as children living on the North Shore. As children we roamed the empty lots & neighborhood & spent countless hours in the pristine waters that were only steps away. Although Sunset Beach has grown in size & population, the precious ALOHA SPIRIT remains. Spending days at this wonderful home gives us time to reconnect to our past, to enjoy the present, and to dream of the many tomorrows that we hope to have. This is what we would like to offer to you. We decided to keep this jewel in our family so that our children could share in the 'wonderful life' that we knew as children. There was no need for toys, as the beauty of the universe lay at our doorstep. This was our playground! It can be yours too. While simple in style, the home has been completely redone and is a tribute to the life that once was. We are not the biggest house on the block. We are simply the loveliest! We can promise you that you will be in the most relaxing atmosphere possible. There are days when the sea turtles choose to swim only a few feet from shore, and will not be intimidated by your swimming along side them. Sometimes, even the Hawaiian Monk Seal will choose to come to shore to bask in the warmth of the beautiful sun & sand. The turtles & the monk seals are protected by law. Because of this they are now more plentiful and do not see us a predators - just co-inhabitants who choose to co-exsist.

While set away from the big hotels, just a short drive takes you to Turtle Bay Hotel & its dining facilities & outdoor activities that include horseback riding. Haleiwa Town is only 10 minutes away where you will find wonderful shops, eating places, stand-up paddleboarding, surfing lessons, and the most wonderful shave ice in the the world. We can put you in contact with one of the best surfing teachers & stand-up paddle boarding instructors on the North Shore.

What makes this house unique

We fall asleep with the soft sound of the surf. Upon waking & making our coffee, we sit in our front garden where we hear the soft music of the birds blending with the sound of the surf hitting the shoreline. Life becomes a moment of thoughtful steps. The smell of the salt air and the whisper of tradewinds brings all of our senses to its maximum potential. Peace fills the many chambers of thought, and we take in each moment with awe as to the beauty of this place. A stroll on the sand often leads to the discovery of beautful shells that have washed ashore. Collecting them for a jar of treasures or to make your own shell jewelry is limited only by your imagination.

Across the street on the mountain side is Ted's Bakery, home of the famous Chocolate Haupia Pie. Ted's also has an extensive plate lunch menu for the days that you would rather not cook.

The house was exactly what we were after! A little beach house near the beach!

  • 5 of 5

The house was meters from sunset beach, and only a drive away from the food trucks up at sharks cove. There were also lots of little food places in between to check out.

The house was fully stocked and ready for us with everything you need on a holiday (kitchen condiments and appliances, beach towels, BBQ, a great coffee machine etc)

The house was extremely clean and had a beautiful Hawaiian feel to it. The backyard is huge and our little 1 year had a ball running around in it, playing in the baby pool!

We can't wait to come back and stay here!

Thank you Steve and Pat for our beautiful stay

Maholo

Great place; Great location

  • 4 of 5

Family of 5 (including 3 teenagers) recently stayed, visiting from Sydney Australia. Being summer and outside of big swell season, a perfect spot for a quiet getaway. Neat, clean with all the necessary amenities - no dishwasher though. Walk straight across the Street to Sunset Beach and 5 min walk to Ted's Bakery - a north shore institution. Definitely need a car to get around locally - 5 to 10 min drive to closest supermarket, plus visiting all the local food trucks / stalls - Easy parking on the property. The owner was really helpful and prompt to answer any questions.

Owner's Response: We are happy that you found our home the perfect spot for a quiet getaway. As you mentioned we do recommend that our guest have cars. We are in a quiet location at Sunset Point which means we are not right next to the supermarkets or the busy shopping area. However, we are just minutes away. Our aim is to provide a peaceful, old Hawaii experience for our guest, one that is helping to perpetuate the Aloha found in our islands!

Lovely house in great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautifully presented holiday home. The front deck with its comfortable wicker armchairs was a perfect spot to watch the world go by. The kitchen was well equipped and in a new condition ( no dishwasher if that bothers you.) Although not actually on the beach it is a 30 second walk so you can hear the ocean from the deck.

The only criticism is the beach chairs provided were old and rusty..and no boogie boards etc were provided. We rented 3 different houses while we were in Hawaii and this was the only one which didn't provide beach stuff ( just beach towels). Not a deal breaker as the house was gorgeous and comfortable but would have been the icing on the cake. It is possible to rent all this stuff but we only had a short stay so it didn't seem worth it.

The owners responded quickly and let us go in early which was great. I would definitely recommend this place to friends, it was beautiful and relaxing. Don't miss a visit to Ted's Bakery only a 5 min walk away...the doughnuts are delicious!

Tasteful, clean, wonderful veranda, quiet location in cul de sac with beach access

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cottage. Spend many evening as on the veranda and one on the beach having a beer with couple of the neighbours. So much better than staying on a hotel or condo. Foodland about 5 minutes drive away, sunset beach practically at door step- just a 1 minute walk down beach path opposite the house. Stephen and Pat both very helpful and honest. Would stay again.

The Jewel of Sunset point is in a fantastic position and the house is really well appointed. But the best part of the house is the outdoor lanai we spent many hours watching the world go by

Lovely home near beach

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying in this house. It is truly right across the street from Sunset Beach so you can see the sunset everyday. The house was well equipped and even had paper towels and a sponge. It was so nice having the laundry so we did not have to over pack. My favorite spot was the front porch for morning tea and reading throughout the day.

I could not tell from the photos, but the layout has the two bedrooms side by side. The bedroom on the front of the house is smaller and has a dresser. The bedroom on the back of the house is larger and has both a dresser and the desk.

The kitchen is also really nice with a brand new stove. There is also a coffeemaker and a kettle.

The bathroom is also renovated with tiles and that is where you find the washer dryer. The towels were soft and new as well.
