Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

We call it Tumalo Pines because our house is nestled on 20 private, forested acres 'toward Tumalo' but just five miles northwest of Bend.

Watch the morning sun light up the Three Sisters Mountain range, cup of coffee in hand as you walk the property with the deer. Relax in the sun on one of three separate decks as many species of birds come to the feeders. Grill meals on the terrace while enjoying a glass of wine in front of the large outdoor fireplace. Star-gaze from the 6-person hot tub.

The house has an open floor plan with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a laundry room. The fully-equipped kitchen is open to the great room. The comfortable beds and quiet country nights make for great sleeping. Listen for the owls and coyotes.

It's hard to believe you're only five miles from Bend with its gourmet restaurants and shopping. And, located here on the West-side, there's easy access to Mt Bachelor and the surrounding national forests with their miles of trails for hiking and biking. And, the house is located on one of the prime touring routes so bring your road bike!

Whatever it is that brings you to Bend, be it the rivers and lakes for great fly fishing, golfing in the good weather on any of the 30+ courses within 30 miles of the house, or just relaxing and reading books on the deck, you'll find that our house is wonderful base for your Central Oregon vacation.

Keywords: Privacy, country setting, amid 20 acres of open pine and juniper forest, 5 minutes northwest of Bend, single-story, newer 3 bedroom home.

About Doug Wold

We value the experience of simply being at Tumalo Pines as much if not more than all of the things we do while we're there.

Doug Wold purchased this house in 2003

Why Doug Wold chose Bend

I grew up on the wet side of the Cascades and came to love the Central Oregon high desert with its dry climate, dramatic seasons and sun as a kid. Bend has long been 'the place to go' for many Oregonians for the climate and instant access to a myriad of outdoor activites. Adding to that the many good restaurants and all the shopping and services one would need makes it an ideal location. There's a reason so many people love Bend.

What makes this house unique

The setting is beautiful and amazingly peaceful. The open forest, views and privacy feel like you are much further out of town than just five miles.

Enjoyed the wildlife and country setting close to Bend

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this very comfortable house. It was nice to be near Tumalo instead of Bend for a change, and Bend was only 15 min away when we wanted to go out to eat or shop. Doug is extremely easy to reach and he answered our questions promptly. We really enjoyed watching all the the birds and chipmunks at the feeders. We would definitely stay there again.

Amazingly Amazing Great Time

  • 5 of 5

Always wonderful to be at Doug's home in Tumalo! This is our 3rd year in a row spending a week of summer vacation in Doug's relaxing vacation home with the roomy and pleasant environment. My family asks me in already in January to make sure I make reservations for the summer. My family and myself had the best time ever. Great location for wherever one of us wants to spend the day....hiking, biking, site seeing, running, and/or fishing. A must stay for anyone who is looking for a perfect place to land for their vacation. Ken Bern

Beautiful property just outside of Bend

  • 5 of 5

Literally less than 10 minutes from downtown Bend but the country setting lets you feel like you're hours away. Large deck & patio, outdoor fireplace, great living room, plenty of dining room seating and a wonderful kitchen. This property was amazing for our group, 4 adults & 2 kids. Relaxing outside, watching chipmunks play while grilling really made our trip to Bend so much more enjoyable. Having young kids can be tough when travelling. This property had the space and opportunity for us to enjoy our time, Above all this property had to offer, the owner is extremely responsive and kind.

Thank you for letting us rent your beautiful home.

A #4 as it was almost perfect.

The property is beautiful w view of the snow topped Sisters. Love the 3 porches, fire place and bird feeders. Nice washer and dryer. The high desert is warm in daytime so best to be out and about. Attic fan cooling sufficient for evening.
