Overview

About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

We accept stays less than 14 nights; however, due to Hawaii zoning laws we can only have one rental in any 30 day period. Therefore it is necessary for us to have a minimum rate of $1225 plus taxes, damage insurance and cleaning fee, which is good for up to a 14 night stay. We accept major credit cards, E-Checks, PayPal and Square Cash (Cash.me/$makaha317). Please see the rates section for full details. Also feel free to visit our website at www.makahashores317(dot)com for more information not contained here on VRBO.

On the island of Oahu lies Makaha Beach, the jewel of the west coast. Makaha Beach is famous for winter surfing, diving caves, turtles, dolphins, whales, and amazing sunsets. It is rarely crowded, always has a cool breeze, and doesn't have the humidity found elsewhere on the island. Makaha is home to the Waianae Mountain Range, producing a stunning landscape where mountains meet sea. Some of the best hiking and views on Oahu can be found in the Waianae range. Makaha also has outstanding golfing.

The Makaha Shores condominiums sit toward the north end of Makaha Beach, the only building on the beach. Very rare among Oahu's beachfront condos, Unit 317 is an end unit with windows on 3 sides. That means you have incredible views not just from the living room, but also from the bedroom, plus great light and ventilation. What also makes 317 unique is waves that crash right next to the lanai, so you see and hear them from everywhere inside. The position on the end of the building makes 317 very private and quiet, and gives you views of not only the beach but also the stunning mountain right across the street. The huge 200 square foot wrap-around lanai is perfect for beachside dining, and you have your own covered parking spot. The building has a lovely pool and BBQ area as well as a coin-operated laundry.

Unit 317 is a one bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a full-sized convertible sofa to accommodate up to 4 guests. Check out our website at www.makahashores317(dot)com for much more info.

What makes this condo unique

Makaha is the jewel of Oahu's Leeward Coast. Makaha Beach Park is famous for winter surfing, hosting an international surfing competition every year. It is known for snorkeling and diving, with rich coral reefs, diving caves, whales, dolphins and turtles who flock to a 'cleaning station' where fish nibble algae off them. It is also where locals go for amazing sunsets. It is rarely crowded, always has a cool breeze, and doesn't have the humidity found elsewhere on the island. At the secluded north point of the beach sits a private home that has built a natural pool into the rocks that fills from the surf, which they invite the public to enjoy.

Makaha is home to the Waianae Mountain Range, producing a stunning landscape where mountains meet sea. Some of the best hiking and views on Oahu can be found in the Waianae range. Makaha also has two outstanding golf courses, the Makaha Resort & Golf Club and Ko Olina Golf Club, and is near many other beach parks, Makua Cave, Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii Water Park and Wild Side Specialty Tours.!

My home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

I love Makaha beach! It is a swimmers paradise in the summer (I love swimming in the ocean) and a surfers paradise in the winter. After staying in this condo twice, I don't want to stay anywhere else.If you are a nature lover and would like to get a feel of the old Hawaii combined with modern essentials, this is as good as it gets on Oahu. This condo also has the best views and breezes in the building and I can feel the TLC the owners put into this place! I love Kahumana restaurant, all their produce is grown organically on their farm.

A Plus for those who cook at home / nature lovers

  • 5 of 5

Do you crave open windows, nature, ocean waves crashing 24/7, and a private spot away from the city? Then this is the place for you. Oceanfront doesn't even describe this place - it feels like the balcony is in the middle of the ocean. It might be the best view we will ever have from a rental, ever. The pool is heated and very clean, grounds are cleaned daily by an on-site manager. The condo was not only very clean, but stocked with extras like 2 boogie boards, beach chairs, plenty of towels, extra sheets, 2 Roku/Netflix TV's with some cable channels, a blender, paper filter style coffee maker, toaster, french press, and plenty of pots and pans. It was nice having a few leftover groceries left behind like spices, rice, etc, and we did the same for the next guests. If you drive further West, you hit the end of the road, and will see some amazing coastline. The mountains meet the ocean here, and it's just breathtaking. We've been to Kauai 3 times before this Oahu trip, and we were looking for a place to stay that felt more like nature than Honolulu - we would suggest this place for sure. Thanks so much!!!

Great View! Great Location! Clean & Comfortable! Great Deal!

  • 5 of 5

Spent 2 weeks here and it felt like home. First of all you are right on the water. You have an awesome view with a very private feeling. Go to sleep and wake up to the sound of the waves. Room has great air flow which keeps it comfortable Being on the west side, away from the busy commercialism and tourists was refreshing and relaxing. The locals were friendly and helpful. One of the managers (all of them very friendly) of the condo shared with us how we could swim with the dolphins from shore. We did it 4 times and it was awesome. Go to Makua beach (across from Makua cave) at 7am and wait for the fins of the dolphins going north and then head out about 30 yards or so into the water and you cam almost touch them. Water is about 20-30 ft deep but crystal clear so you can see the bottom. Was awesome. Time your trips to the other parts of the island around the traffic and its not too bad but can get a little slow coming and going through Waianae. We had an awesome time and this condo was a big part of it. Hope to return!

Comfortable, private, and away from the busy tourist activity.

  • 4 of 5

We went here in part for our anniversary...it was a wonderful and relaxing stay! From the lanai overlooking the beach, we saw dolphins, surfers, and snorkelers enjoying the water. We met some wonderful residents poolside, and enjoyed feeling like we were locals instead of harried tourists. The sunsets were spectacular, and at night the stars and moon were bright and sparkly. A few times, we saw bioluminescent squid in the waves breaking on the beach at night...unexpected and intriguing! We were close to hiking trails, and snorkeling was perfect from the State Park beach next to us...which was never crowded. We saw many types of fish and some turtles lazily swimming beneath us. The breeze flowed through from 3 sides of the unit, and kept us pretty comfortable. The sound of the surf was all around...sort of "white-noise". We traveled all over the island, did some hiking and exploring, and it always was nice to come "home". In nearby Waianai, there were stores to meet grocery and personal needs, and some nice restaurants too. We liked Cochitas...a Columbian/Puerto Rican restaurant recommended by residents. But we usually bought local foods to prepare ourselves. "Big-Time" shopping is available also, about 30 minutes away...and also the intersection to go to the North Shore. We got souvenirs at the "Swap Meet" at Aloha Stadium (Halewa Stadium on the signs).

The unit was clean and bright, and the bed was a comfortable memory foam type. We used our Netflix and Amazon accounts on the TVs, and watched the Seahawks!! Everything we needed was supplied in the way of cookware and beach supplies (towels, chair, umbrella)...hairdryer, and a coin-op laundry. The beach was easy to access, and we felt like we had plenty of privacy as we sat on the lanai to eat, read, or star gaze. The owners were great to work with, and the staff attending the property were nice folks...and nice to visit with.

Traffic is slow...but you're on vacation, so just give yourself time to go at a sea-turtle's pace. We liked hiking up to Manoa Falls (above Waikiki) and Makapu'u Point lighthouse on the northeast of the island. We also drove almost all of the cross-mauka roads and along the perimeter of the island...gorgeous!! There is a lot of history at Pearl Harbor, and many old gun placements and lookouts from the 1940s and 1950s all over. We liked the local farmers' markets...the fruit is fantastic, and the avocados are the size of softballs!

Come enjoy Makaha!

Trip of a lifetime!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful condo with the ocean right off the lanai. Everything in the condo was clean and well cared for and the owners have thought of everything to make your stay easy and relaxing. Well stocked with kitchen tools and dishes for a quiet dinner on the lanai and lots of information on the local eateries and things to do when you want to go out. Awesome beach for swimming, snorkeling, or surfing! Nice pool at the condo too for a quick dip. Friendly management. Our first trip to Hawaii and we have to say we enjoyed being in this area of the island; less rain, not as humid, away from big city but close enough to drive anywhere, not so touristy as other parts, genuinely friendly locals. Loved it!
