I care for my tenants, like my own friends
Max purchased this house in 2011
It is quite, pleasant ocean breeze, beautiful birds, and very nice neighbors .
It is happy homes, several weddings, close to shops, schools, la Jolla village, movie, ice -skating, walking trail and surfing.
Landlord is pleasant and easy to deal with. Home is comfortable and spacious with a unique view overlooking Bird rock and ocean. Eat and play in the backyard with picturesque scenery behind. Great for surfers! Check the waves before heading out. Loves living here for one year!
The moment I entered the home, I knew what a jewel we had found- a classic mid-century modern home in almost original condition. Max the owner confirmed that it was architect-designed in 1955 to maximize the ocean views. Despite the summer weather, the temperature was perfect for sleeping. We awakened rested to enjoy coffee on the covered porch overlooking the water. We never tired of the hummingbirds that hovered over the hedge. This house was my favorite thing about La Jolla, which I have visited numerous times because my son lives in the area. We were joined by my husband's adult children for a family vacation. The arrangement of the bedrooms offered privacy for everyone, and the living areas were spacious and comfortable for socializing.
Others have commented on the need for upgrading the furnishing, but it contributed to the vacation house feel. Considering the million dollar view, the comfort factor, and the historic character of the home, this rental was an incredible value.
We did have a problem one day with the water backing up in the showers, but Max had a plumber at work promptly, with no disruption to us.
We would love to stay here again!
My group of 13 enjoyed our stay at this house. The house itself was very cozy and comfortable. What amazed us about this property was the amazing view of the downtown and beaches from the living room! The bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen was nice. It really accommodated our gigantic party. Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely recommend staying here. The furniture and bed linens need to be updated but otherwise it was still nice. The view from the patio is breathtaking and its the bed room in the house! The landlord was very helpful and responded quickly to our questions.
This house has very beautiful ocean view. The deck is big enough for >10 people to hang out.
It is very convenient for a get-together between families and friends.
The kitchen has most cookware you need and enough plates and folks.
The rooms are in general clean and cozy without any smell.
The beds are fine, although there is minor stain on the pillow cases.
I will consider this house again if we have another vacation in San Diego.
The major reason I didn't give five star is that for a big house like this, I encourage the landlord to provide a checklist of the supplies, like towel paper, trash bags, handsoap, etc. In that case everyone can prepare what they need for the stay efficiently, and it is easier for the maintenance as well.
The property is located in a very nice neighborhood and has great views of the Pacific ocean. The house is conveniently located to all major attractions in San Diego and the property owner was very accommodating and friendly.
Overall, our group of 12 had an enjoyable time at this La Jolla property. The view was amazing and it was in a very quiet/peaceful neighborhood. While it was still reasonably close to the beach (15-20 min), it was difficult to get to because it was way at the top of the hill/mountain side and there were many different turns and roads to be made to get to the house. While our stay was definitely a good one, there are some improvements that I believe could be made to make this a 5 star rating. The house itself and the furniture, pots, linens were quite out dated and seem to have been there for a long time. It seems that not much has changed since the others left their reviews before me. However, the outdoor furniture and the kitchen table seem to be relatively new. There also seemed to be the beginning of some construction going on with the house where the owner was adding another level to it. It's not great to look at from the outside but none of the construction affected our stay. Furthermore, while none of this ultimately makes or a break a stay, I think with some upgrades and a little remodeling the home would be absolutely gorgeous. Some new paint on the walls, newer furniture and decorations, and other touch ups here and there would just add to the experience in my opinion.
As I mentioned, our stay was enjoyable and the owner was very accommodating. I have no complaints really besides the fact that if the house was more modernized and fresh it would have elevated my rating to the highest level. I would still consider staying here again because it was very comfortable and the view was just amazing.
