About Alan Heyntsen

We are an active family that enjoys music, church, entertaining, outdoors and sports. We are busy with sports of 2 teens and are actively involved in our community.

Alan Heyntsen purchased this house in 2003

Why Alan Heyntsen chose Northwest & Islands

Lake Whatcom is a beautiful, clean lake. I grew up on this lake in the summer time months and once my husband and I were married we continued to camp and enjoy what Lake Whatcom had to offer. Our family has yearly met at the lake and we were very lucky and blessed to find this house which can extend the same excitement and enjoyment to others.

What makes this house unique

Morning peacefullness, a walk on the treadmill and then breakfast with fresh pancakes. An early morning kayak or peddle boat trip, or coffee on the deck watching the fish jump. Campfires and star gazing are also memorable.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Terri, thank you so much for opening your home to us. What a perfect setting for our ladies' weekend retreat - from the home's layout, bedroom options, great kitchen and the fabulous patio with the outdoor fireplace, we couldn't have imagined anything more ideal. You were so accomodating insuring there was enough bedding, linens, life jackets, etc. to suit our group's needs, and the house was immaculate for our arrival. As for the waterfront location, it was serene, peaceful, and offered great swimming and paddling opportunities for those that could steal themselves away from the fireplace ( the rest of us enjoyed the waterfront hot tub!) Thanks again for your hospitality - we will definately be looking to return in the not-too-distant future!

Great for a group of friends!!

  • 5 of 5

A group of 11 adults and 3 dogs had a fantastic time here at Alan's house! It was in a more secluded end of the lake, we had a great time on the outdoor deck, and the hot tub was perfect during the snowy weather. All of the rooms allowed each person a place to sleep, and it was close to Mt Baker and to Bellingham! We would love to come back here during the summer to enjoy the lake and to find the zip line!

Great Holiday Get-together

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a wonderful two night stay at this lake front property. The house is well setup to take advantage of the space if offers. Even though temperatures outside were well below freezing we had a fun time using the hot tub, outdoor fireplace, and even the zip-line!

We all commented that we'd enjoy coming back in the summer. Alan and Terri were very communicative, answering all my questions and even offering to sand the driveway after it snowed. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Lovely weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing Labor day getaway here - 2 days was not enough! A group of 11 of us were relaxing, visiting family in Bellingham, and celebrating the upcoming birth of my first child. The house was amazingly spacious and well laid out. The covered deck with the fireplace is perfect for year-round fun. Being right on the lake, there was no reason to leave. We spent one day just kayaking and canoeing around. One person even caught a super tiny fish right off the dock!

I will mention that 2 of the bedrooms with queen sized beds are connected. Couples needing a bit more privacy should be aware. That being said everyone had a bed and no one had to sleep on the couch which made everyone happy.

The owners were incredibly nice and great at communicating. We also found the neighbors to be quite pleasant and friendly. We had an amazing time and would love to come back!

Perfect Lake Cabin Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 9 friends had a wonderful weekend at this lake house. Played some golf at the very nearby Sudden Valley Golf Course and spent a lot of time relaxing by the lake. The house had everything we needed and the kayaks were a nice bonus! It was also close enough to Bellingham that we could all take Ubers into town for an evening. The owners were lovely hosts as well.

Everyone had a great time, and I would recommend it for anyone looking to have a nice get away with friends or family.

Such a wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

WOW! I honestly have nothing but great things to say about our stay here. Communication with Alan was excellent from start to finish and he helped answer all of our questions- very much appreciated! The location of the house is serene and beautiful- pictures can never quite do justice to actually being there ;) The view from the porch and hot tub is wonderful, and we spent lots of time just taking in the scenery. The house is very spacious- we had 12 people and more than enough room- the whole property was just a great fit for our group. The kitchen is roomy, and we had no trouble having 3 of us in there cooking different things for mealtimes (there was also a barbecue grill out back that we used and it worked well). Everything we used in the house worked great and we had no issues- TV’s, shower, dishwasher, washer/dryer, kitchen appliances, etc. There were plenty of games and books and movies stocked around the house. The back porch/covered seating area with a fireplace is possibly my favorite part (And there was even wood cut and stacked for the fireplace when we arrived, which was very nice)! It was also convenient to have an outdoor fridge/mini-kitchen area back there as well... we spent a lot of time out there. Hot tub was very relaxing, and Alan kindly came by one of the days to show us how to take care of the hot tub/chlorine levels, etc.

We are already excited to book this again for next year!!

Fantastic stay right on the lake

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful location to spend a weekend or longer. This was a base camp for a bachelor party and the hot tub was fantastic! The kitchen was top-notch, and the sleeping arrangements for a larger party was just fine. Communication with the hosts was excellent, and we encountered no problems. I would totally recommend staying here!

Water skiing and jet skiing are allowed on the lake, but there is no rental outlet for these features. You will have to use your own boat. Lake Whatcom now has an invasive species fee and inspection, and also requires a Discover Pass to legally launch your boat. We are located on the very south end of the lake in a no wake zone. It takes a couple of minutes to get to the ski zone.
