We are an active family of 4 that enjoys music, church, entertaining, outdoors and sports.
Alan Heyntsen purchased this House in 2003
Why Alan Heyntsen chose Whatcom County
Lake Whatcom is a beautiful, clean lake. I grew up on this lake in the summer time months and once my husband and I were married we continued to camp and enjoy what Lake Whatcom had to offer. Our family has yearly met at the lake and we were very lucky and blessed to find this house which can extend the same excitement and enjoyment to others.
What makes this House unique
Morning peacefullness, a walk on the treadmill and then breakfast with fresh pancakes. An early morning kayak or peddle boat trip, or coffee on the deck watching the fish jump. Campfires and star gazing are also memorable.

Great for Large Groups
Went here for a weekend getaway with a group of ladies. Kitchen is well stocked for basic cooking needs, and there’s an outdoor kitchen for extra prep! It was a rainy weekend so the fireplaces were a welcomed touch. Lots of blankets and towels available and perfect for the large group. Property Managers are very responsive and instructions for checkin/checkout are simple and clear. We loved staying here and had a blast!
Such a Wonderful Weekend Getaway
We had such a wonderful time here! The home is perfectly located, it's quiet and right on the water with a gorgeous view of the lake. The stars came out for us both nights we were there, and there isn't much light pollution in the area so the view was stunning. It was the perfect size for our group and we all such a wonderful time. The kitchen is amply stocked with dishes, utensils, cookware, and serving dishes. I hadn't been able to pack things for baking, and I was happy to find that there were all the necessities for what I was needing to make. There were extra blankets and towels throughout the home and everything was clearly marked as to what was inside the closets. The home was nice and warm when we got there and very welcoming. Though it was cold, the outdoor area was very well set up for ease of use and enjoyment. Thank you so much to our hosts! We couldn't have asked for a better set up!
Beautiful view, nice kitchen, great getaway!
This is a quaint getaway location with all the basics. It won't wow you with luxury (family room furniture and beds are not particularly comfortable and the TV is kind of broken), but for what we cared about most, this place had in spades: a beautiful view, privacy, a hot tub, a lake, room to sleep a large group, and proximity to Bellingham and Mt. Baker. It also has a cool covered "outdoor living room" with a table and chairs, a sitting area, and a fireplace, which would be amazing for summer visits. Also, the owner was very respectful, responsive, and pleasant to deal with. Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommend it!
Thank you for your review. We are glad that you had a good stay. In addressing the issues at hand. Some of the family room furniture is from the 1962 Seattle World's fair ( including the couch and the spiral staircase) and is part of the history of the home. We have not really had issues with the comfort of the beds. We have different ages, styles, and firmness throughout the house in each of the beds to accommodate personal preference. We also have many different mattress toppers/pads that can be used to adjust the firmness. The 48 inch television got knocked over Christmas Eve, and lost 2 inches of vision on the right hand side border. This does not seem to affect the function nor viewing of the program. The television will be replaced soon. Thank you
Wonderful lake get away!
We had our Christmas at this lovely home! We had a tree and the owners had it decorated for winter. The cozy gas fireplace warmed us up after a trip to Mt. Baker. The kids (as well as the adults) took advantage of the hot tub which sits very near the lake. What a view!! We used the outdoor fireplace in the covered outdoor patio many times. Winter or summer, this is a great place for families, retreats, girls' weekends or whatever! Owners were very helpful and polite.
Great for a group of friends!!
A group of 11 adults and 3 dogs had a fantastic time here at Alan's house! It was in a more secluded end of the lake, we had a great time on the outdoor deck, and the hot tub was perfect during the snowy weather. All of the rooms allowed each person a place to sleep, and it was close to Mt Baker and to Bellingham! We would love to come back here during the summer to enjoy the lake and to find the zip line!
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay at
Lake Whatcom. While it is gorgeous during winter, it is equally as beautiful in summer. We can show you the zip line during summer weather!
Thank you for your stay...

Great Holiday Get-together
My friends and I had a wonderful two night stay at this lake front property. The house is well setup to take advantage of the space if offers. Even though temperatures outside were well below freezing we had a fun time using the hot tub, outdoor fireplace, and even the zip-line!
We all commented that we'd enjoy coming back in the summer. Alan and Terri were very communicative, answering all my questions and even offering to sand the driveway after it snowed. I would not hesitate to stay here again!
We are happy that you had an enjoyable time!
Come back again:)

Water skiing and jet skiing are allowed on the lake, but there is no rental outlet for these features. You will have to use your own boat. Lake Whatcom now has an invasive species fee and inspection, and also requires a Discover Pass to legally launch your boat. We are located on the very south end of the lake in a no wake zone. It takes a couple of minutes to get to the ski zone.
