About Mark Weitekamper
Hi. My name is Shannon. My husband Mark and I bought this lovely house in South Haven in the fall of 2010. We've poured love into this home. We've renovated it with real barn wood floors, a warm gas fireplace, an all new bathroom, and a funky and comfy decor that isn't like every other cottage on the block with a Gone Fishin' sign. We will enjoy it part of the time, and we want you to enjoy it the rest of the time.
Mark Weitekamper purchased this House in 2010
Why Mark Weitekamper chose South Haven Charter Township
I grew up spending every summer in South Haven and loved every minute of it. Body surfing in the waves, playing Capture the Flag, making sand castles during the Blueberry Festival, riding my banana seat bike to get penny candy at the corner store that has been there as long as I can remember. I always thought when I had a family, I would buy a place in South Haven to let my kid love those same experiences. Well, I now have that kid. So, I had to make good on that promise to myself.
What makes this House unique
Take a short walk to the beach with coffee in hand first thing in the morning. Take a ten minute walk to one of two parks with your kids or the dogs in the afternoon. Play badminton or ladder ball in the big yard. Take a secret shortcut to the bridge (you'll figure it out when you get there) and be at one of the great downtown restaurants ten minutes later. Read a book by the fire. Play poker at the big oak table that can seat ten or more. Uncork a bottle of red wine and relax on the deck. Watch Jaws with your friends while eating endless bags of microwave popcorn.

Very pleasant stay!
The home was convenient for walking to the beach and exploring downtown South Haven. Home was very comfortable for the five adults. Would recommend to anyone staying in South Haven.
Look no further, this is an amazing place!!
This spacious and tidy house is lacking nothing. Perfect for a group of 8 or less. Right by the beach and downtown South Haven. Everything is walking distance. The house is super clean and has all the essentials. We literally had zero complaints. It was also the first time we had a cool little game to play in the guest book. You have to hide a dollar bill and leave a neat clue for the next guest to find it. Unique and fun!! Thank you, Mark, for trusting us with your home. -The Thibodeaux Family from Southaven, Mississippi
Perfect home base for our fall visit!
This home was very comfortable for our two families. Loved that the kitchen/dining/living space was open concept. Bedrooms were all a good size, and bathrooms were updated. Well stocked kitchen. We walked to downtown and it's only a couple blocks from Oak Beach. This is a great property!
Cozy and well stocked
Roomy, comfortable cottage with open spaces made socializing while cooking easy. Well stocked kitchen, paper products included made packing easier. Clean, updated bathrooms were pretty. Mark made it so comfortable and easy to stay here! Thank you!
Our family vacation in South Haven was great! Staying at Soft Landing was wonderful.
Staying at Soft Landing was wonderful.
We had enough room for our grandchildren to play, our grown children to sit around and catch up, and for us grandparents to enjoy the back deck and watch the Black Sqirrels play.
( I've never seen a black squirrel before!) The beds were all comfy, we loved the Themes in each room, and the house was so clean and roomy. We were so close to town and all the beaches. We enjoyed the deck when the sun went down and we utilized the kitchen, which had everything you need, when we didn't feel like eating out. What I like the most was the kitchen was open to the living, dining area, and our family of 8 sat around and shared stories and laughs. We made wonderful memories to take with us. Thank you Mark and Shannon for your hospitality! ~ The Cristel family
Great beach house
We had a wonderful stay at this house! Truly the location could not have been better. We might suggest an outdoor furniture upgrade as the chairs were rickety and, indeed, one broke right out from underneath us. That was the only downside and we truly enjoyed our weekend away!
Did you know? South Haven boasts seven public beaches. But Oak Street Beach at the end of our street is one of the best kept secrets and only two blocks away! Roast marshmallows around the outdoor fire pit; Rainy day? Visit the Air Zoo one hour away in Portage, or take a short ride to one of the two South Haven wineries; Drink cider and devour fresh doughnuts at Mcintosh Apple Orchards; Pick blueberries, raspberries (yes, that's how it's spelled; I couldn't believe it either), cherries...you name it...at one of the local farms; bike the Kal-Haven trail that starts less than a mile from where you are staying; walk to the marina where you'll find charter fishing, sunset cruises, canoe rentals, and more; golf at one of the three courses in town; visit the GingerMan Raceway; check out the Fall color tour; Winter Get-Away? Try snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice skating at the local outdoor rink. I could go on, but just how much do you think you can fit into a week anyway?
